Crazy. In Kenya, there are plenty of housing for any housing budget. Kenuya landlord will almost beg you to go into their house. Everywhere is TO LET sign.

The only problem we have is affordability - forcing those poor to live in slums - where rent is 5 or max 10 dollars. But there are house for 20, 30,40,50,100, name it....until you get to more than 5,000 dollars.

There is enough houses for every amount you want. If you start housing hunting - you'll see so many empty house in a day and will move in the same day.

What landlords do in kenya is to build huge apartments...

On Saturday - I was going to somewhere in Industrial Area - and found myself lost in the pipeline - this is like 2kms of 10 floor building packed like sardines - each room probably cost 40-50 dollars a month.

Nairobi Eastland - is those cheap apartments - and host 2/3 of Nairobi - like 2-3m in very small SQ Km.
