Salako01: I am from that local government you mentioned and I'm a teacher as well. I can tell you factually that almost all the schools comply even that ADS you mentioned have to sent some of their students back to their various houses because they are not putting on their nose mask. |

If the effects of Covid 19 virus illness are similar in Nigeria to other countries, school-aged children are unlikely to develop severe symptoms even if they contract the virus and test positive. That is the good news, with respect to this very hasty reopening of schools in Oyo State, Nigeria, and other parts of the world where this tentative reopening of schools has been implemented. The BAD news, however, is that there has been virtually NO Covid virus testing to speak of, for the general population of Nigeria, thus far. With no Covid 19 testing results available to inform Nigeria's political leadership about the TRUE extent of the contagion's spread in Nigeria, it is virtually CERTAIN that a hasty reopening of schools now in Nigeria, WILL result in a silent, initially undetected proliferation of the virus among school children, of which only a tiny minority will exhibit clinical symptoms of the virus illness. With an unknown number of infected, asymptomatic and contagious students freely mingling with their classmates, their teachers and other staff, it is entirely possible that an EXPLOSIVE resurgence of the Corona virus illness could erupt among teaching and general staff, in schools that have been hastily re-opened, and this scenario, if it unfolds, would necessitate a hurried reversal of the school reopening policy, simply to save lives, and try to contain the reinvigorated spread of Covid 19 in Nigeria. My personal view here is certainly a minority opinion, going by the majority of the enthusiastic comments in this discussion thus far, and I also pray my projections do NOT come to pass. That said, however, the sobering resurgence of Covid 19 illness and death in the USA, serves as a dire warning to the entire world leadership, that a HASTY reopening of society due to economical or educational priorities, and WITHOUT mass testing, COULD turn out to be a the recipe for a disaster akin to that which is decimating the population of Brazil even as these words are typed. Oyo state, Nigeria, by hurriedly reopening its schools with ZERO Covid 19 testing in place, has become the canary in the coal mine, in that the consequences of that decision to reopen schools, will now serve as a preemptive lesson to all other states of the federation that are on course to reopen schools, for better, and most hopefully not for worse. In conclusion, I humbly yet passionately remind His Excellency President Muhamadu Buhari, Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, that his every history-forging decision during this time of a still-raging global pandemic, MUST be guided PRIMARILY by the advice of the local and international medical community, who in turn are continuously informed by worldwide epidemiological data gathered in real time, scanty though it may be in the absence of widespread virus testing for Nigeria's general population. One observable and indisputable index that quantifies and maps a spreading contagion, is of course hospital admission data, which can be gauged and extrapolated using a variety of statistical models. Among the salient hallmarks of true leadership, is the readiness to CHANGE COURSE, if unfolding events so dictate, meaning that if society's phased reopening triggers escalating virus casualty spikes in Nigeria, reversion to partial lock-down MAY become the lesser of several evils, and thus the only viable path for Nigeria to take as an interim measure, all things considered. God bless His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May your conscience, be your guide sir. |

Its just a matter of time so many of them will dump the face mask, then you will see NCDC increasing the number of covid 19 patient in the state. In reality, don't believe this covid 19 stuff patient is high the way NCDC is raising false alarm This practice will reveal the truth that we have been wasting our time and making the masses to suffer undue hardship. |
