Why Did Azikwe Rejected A Joint Government With Awolowo? by Nobody: 10:48am On Jul 07, 2020 |
Why did Zik rejected a joint government with Awolowo only to accept a 2nd position to the north? Awolowo even humbled himself to GIVE Zik the prime minister and he will settle for the lesser post.. Why did Azikwe rejected a southern govt and went to form a government with the northerner govt? Why did Zik break the south unity at federal level to go join the north? More like Zik igbos brought the North into power and from there, they lost so much to the north. Why why why?? Because to form a government leaving out the biggest party with the most members of parliament would have been stupid. Npc was the biggest party and could had formed the government by themselves. Also i don't know if you realize it but ncnc was the only national party. Yorubas need to come straight with themselves about the ibos. I find it harder to like yorubas when they keep back stabbing and attacking the ibos. Azikiwe made his political fortunes in western Nigeria and he was a true nationalist. Se and sw need to get back to working with each other. 4 Likes |

FrLukas:You people are so short sighted ...u have shown tribalism and hatred to a man for years ... because u need him now u want him to form government with u ? When awolow sacked alafin of Oyo because he was friend with zik in 1955 he didn't think When he brought tribalism to make zik party to lose majority in South West ..he didn't think No body was willing to negotiate with awolowo ...he was spoiling zik in front of the north and north in front of zik without knowing they were talking to Oga don't disgrace yourself here go and study history ...from 1950 down till date ...u would know every action igbos took against yorubas were revenge ...never did the igbo man start anything 5 Likes |

Because awolowo first betrayed zik, zik having realized the type of tribe you people are, accepted the north offer who he taught was the best since they offered him president without knowing they were even the worst.. Judgement: we should all separate because we can never work together, but if we leave,Biafra and odua will likely form alliance like we were before the British joined us together. 2 Likes |

Constantjohn: The bolded has again proved that free education policy in western region of Nigeria did more harm than good. It is said that he who comes for equity must come with clean hands. The question should be why would Action Group send two teams, one to Kaduna and another to Onicha to negotiate the same thing at the same time? Akintola and Rosiji to Kaduna while Awo and Ige to Onicha. One cannot go to steal smoked crayfish with a rat in the bag. 11 Likes |

Igbochief001: And how is the revenge quest going for you? So far, you've served a political party for over 20 years and you aren't even bold enough to ask your masters for a shot at the presidency despite the support you've given. I know that people like you will only believe the version of history you want to believe. I guess it helps you to get from one day to another psychologically. Which is ok, as long as you're making healthy choices. Just don't infect the younger generation with your illusions. Azikiwe installed an Igbo man in the Eastern region and then wanted to become the premier of Western region himself, being also an Igbo man and you want Awolowo or the Yorubas to sit down, fold their arms and be watching you, right? Well, Azikiwe didn't negotiate with Awolowo who was willing to bury the hatchet, sold the South to the North and guess who's crying about being a third class citizens in their own country? The people of Azikiwe. Guess the people who are leaving their own regions to the region of Awolowo to eek out a decent living? That's right, the people of Azikiwe. The people bent on a revenge mission according to you, against their perceived enemies who don't even know that their guests are fuming and frothing at the mouth against them. 12 Likes |

Zik mission was that he would be able to manipulate the North unlike Awolowo but it turned out that the Northern had forseen his mission ahead of time and they played alongside with him, hence he was rendered politically irrelevant with the Gov general post. Igbochief001: Azikiwe the foremost tribalist himself. You can twist history to make it sound better to you. But the truth will always be told. Azikiwe betrayed the South. Even Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana was shocked by the senseless move by Azikiwe. But obviously, Azikiwe put himself and his interest above his people. He couldn't let go his pain at not being the Premier of Western Nigeria, a largely Yoruba speaking area, which should be ruled by a Yoruba, hence the regional system of governance. He was so pained that he gave the highest position in the land, the prime ministership to Tafawa Balewa and settled for the errand boy position which was largely ceremonial. The same blind hate has been leading his people not to realize that they need the Yorubas more, now than ever. Tell yourself what makes you feel good. But at the end of the day, remind yourself that it's a lie. 9 Likes |
