It's painful. Really painful to just have a good sum lying fallow in my savings account hanging on to a tiny thread of 3.75%interest. But what can one do?

Thank you sir for this information

But investments like this must require a huge sum of money to venture in.

What’s the minimum to investment in REIT ?

With N4 you can buy 1 unit of updc REIT. The beauty of shares is that you don't need huge capital. The minimum of 1 unit is what you can buy.

If you were in my shoes what will you do?
What will your investment advise to me be?

I'm young (below 30), single, live within my means, able to save 90 - 100k monthly, have a savings of about 1.1m, stay in a small town in southern Nigeria.

In the nearest future (3 - 6months) I plan to invest the savings in fixed income funds or reputable new fintech apps (NOT agritechs) because they're convenient for a millenial like me.
I'm also considering real estate (buy land for appreciation), agric (rent large farm, hire a laborer or two, plant and sell veggies bi-weekly with high demand in the south), cryptocurrency (buy bitcoin with a small fraction of my savings and keep for long term), equity (buy shares of sound listed companies)

My Likely big future spending (6months - 12 months)
Car (I work 7am to 6pm in a small city - no keke Maruwa in the day - I always dread a rainy day)
Self development (professional certification or MBA)
Marriage

I'm just overthinking - i will welcome our suggestions from wealth of experience. Especially from our respected posters ogaahib, pa Emma and barryton

Thanks

First thing is, try to live below your means not even within. That's the most important headstart.

Some people may be mocking you but them no go Sabi say u dey boil rice for fire. You go multiply your seeds faster

can someone please give me a brief explanation?

A 1M in say a 15% bond tenured for 5 years would mean that you would get 150k (15% of 1M) every year for 5 years and also get your initial principal (1M) upon maturity.

However, interest is paid twice a year (75k each) for sovereign bonds and sukuks. I believe saving bonds is quarterly though

Read some pages back on this thread, mutual fund and stocks threads. I'm sure if you read like one really looking for solutions you will make very good investment decisions without regrets. All the best.

REIT own residential, industrial and Commercial properties etc Malls, multi storey car parks, event centers, luxury apartment buildings, office buildings, shopping complex , entertainment centres etc

Real Estate Investment Trust. We have 3 publicly quoted REITs in Nigeria

1 UPDC REIT, has properties in choice areas worth over N23 billion and about N4 billion invested in bonds

2 Union Homes REIT has properties worth N10 billion and N1 billion in liquid assets

3 SFS REIT has properties worth N2.2 billion and N500 million in liquid....

Others REITs are private owned.

You may not be able to fullquidy own a property located in Ikoyi that earns rents in dollars, but when you have REIT you can derive the benefits of such investments.

An investor got over N20 million from his Investments in UPDC REIT in 2019
Please of the three listed above which offers the best return long term and how liquid are they in the stock market? Thank you

It is somewhat crazy. I have guys with MSc Data Analytics, Cybersecurity etc with no jobs. So it is making the IT story less interesting at the moment.

I PM'd you.

Fidelity Bank PLC.

When you get there, ask for a HYSA account.

Any questions?
