2023: Yerima Says President Of Igbo Extraction Will Stabilize Nigeria by Showbby28: 9:54am On Jul 10, 2020 |
National President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum ( AYCF) ,Alhaji Shettima Yerima, has pleaded with the northern power brokers to consider supporting a candidate of Igbo extraction for the 2023 election for peace and stability sake in the country . This is even as he declared support for former Governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the North’s most preferred presidential candidate , revealing that International Community and many Consultative forums in the north are also rooting for Kalu . THE NIGERIA DAILY recalls that Yerima is a member of the coalition that wanted Igbo people sent packing from the North in 2017. He is also a member of the coalition that established Operation Shege Ka Fasa, the northern version of the regional security outfit that was raised by the South-West, Amotekun In an exclusive interview granted to THE NIGERIA DAILY on Thursday night in Abuja , Yerima also defended the North saying that political pundits and opinion builders are not always right in their description and perception of the North. According to the Arewa leader , “ those thinking that we don’t like the Igbo and the North will not support them for 2023 presidency are totally wrong . The whole country cannot function without its part and the South East is part of the whole . “Notwithstanding the fact that the North still need another term after President Buhari; the right, honourable and just thing to do is to support South East achieve their presidential goal in 2023. It will help to stabilize the country. The country need healing and greater unity and the best thing to do is to give total support to the people of the South East . “The South-West has had their complete tenure through President Olusegun Obasanjo, South-South had had a tenure through President Goodluck Jonathan and South-East has not gotten it in the new dispensation. Speaking further, he noted that “South East being among the three regional power blocks and geopolitical structures to which the British relinquished power at independence in 1960 need a seat at the Centre “So to have another president in 2023 that is not Igbo would be unjust, inequitable and unfair. With the presidency having by national consensus rotated between the north and the southwest, 2023 should be the turn of the Igbos. There is no just, fair and equitable reason to delay the rotation of the presidency to the southeast by another presidential election in 2023.” He said The Arewa Leader said that every Nigerian is entitled to his ambition, adding that doing the right thing is his utmost concern . ” We are talking of doing the right thing here . We shouldn’t just be buried in our ambition, we should also consider posterity, stability and unity of this country . When you talk of ally , you talk about those who have been with us since inception. You talk about those that the North considers as loyal brothers . Don’t think that the North will look the other way when the chips are down . As long as I know, many Consultative forums in the North are rooting for Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He is detribalized enough to have the trust of entire Nigerians . He has the wherewithal and capacity to turn the economy of this country around. I can assure you that he is the most preferred candidate of the North from the entire south. Even as a devout Christian, we know how he accommodated muslims in his state when he was governor. We knew how he built several mosques for them . Even the international community are rooting for him, so the North is not the only people in this. https://thenigeriadaily.com/2020/07/10/2023-yerima-says-president-of-igbo-extraction-will-stabilize-nigeria/ 3 Likes 2 Shares

We don't think so Mr Yerima, in fact, giving an Igbo man the presidency in this skewed atmosphere where tribalism is the order of the day will be counter productive to the Igbo. The Igbo thinks differently from all others and aims for excellence, with the constitution as wrong as the one Nigeria practice, and with the federal structure made to favor the north, it will be mission impossible to save Nigeria. Hold your presidency while we aim for our own. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Yerima should kindly shove his Almajiri opinion up his a*s. Ndigbo don't want presidency, we want out. Stop playing on our collective intelligences with this stale outdated line. Presidency that will benefit Uzor kalu and maybe a dozen of his friends as against the interest of 70 million igbos huh? We don't want any presid1otic bragging rights, we want Biafra, we want something lasting.. QED. 4 Likes |

Las Las, una go still carry the presidency come Enugu come dey beg I just dey laugh afonja and their naivity cum gullibility. They think they stand a chance in 2023. Tifnubu is just wasting his time. What happened to Abiola will be a child's play compared to how they will humilate him. Those that fail to learn from history are bound to repeat the same mistakes of the past. The North will never support an afonja who is popular among his people, rather they will support one who is weak and unpopular. In the first republic, Awo had a god status among the afonjas, but the Northerners used another unpopular afonja in the person of Akintola to humilate him and threw him into jail. Awo was so desperate to rule Nigeria but they ensured he never realised his ambition till he In 1993, Abiola was the most popular afonja alive, he was rich, well connected and desperate to rule Nigeria. The same Northerners were also desperate to ensure he never rules Nigeria and Abiola was arrested, humiliated and died in controversial circumstances while in prison. In 1999, the afonjas were bruised and frustrated, out of pity, the North decided to compensate them with the presidency. The afonjas decided to support Olu Falae to represent them. They went behind and released OBJ from prison. The same OBJ afonjas hated with passion then because they felt he couldn't use his power as military president to support Awo but instead went with Shagari who the North wanted. Obasanjo won while the afonja choice, Olu Falae suffered a crushing defeat. Anyone who is smart will easily decide a pattern here. Now, Tifnubu has become very popular among afonjas and he is desperate to rule (the same traits that Awo and Abiola had) and no one needs a soothsayer to decipher what will happen come 2023. Osinbajo, Fashola or even Fayemi has a brighter chance of ruling Nigeria than Tifnubu. They will keep using him and making him comfortable enough to live in a fool's paradise until the eleventh hour when he thinks nothing can stop him, then the cabals will strike and bring him to his knees. I don't know why it is difficult for people to see what is already obvious. Northerners will rather continue ruling than allow another afonja to rule after OBJ's 8 years as president and Osinbajo's 8 years as vice. An afonja president will not bring any benefit whatsoever to the polity. Bookmark this post today and resurrect it in 2023 10 Likes 3 Shares |

I don't want the Presidency abi President, what I want is outright Freedom. Same masters of the game are already projecting their own version of Igbo President for us. After drowning Nigeria in debts you want to bring in a President that will spend most of the time servicing those foreign debt without working for his people. As they did with Obasanjo in 1999 8 Likes 3 Shares |

RTSC: Ojiofor: Ojiofor:You are not an igbo man Dude, We know ourselves.. We know what we want. The igbos of today want out, the division is actually between the best strategy to go about it. They are divided between two opinions, half want restructuring, believing it will buy us some time to straregize our eventual pullout. the other half want out outright pullout of biafra and damn the consequence. No group of igbos wants any business with presidency, as at this July 2020. This is why I laugh when I hear people from zamfara and Ogbomosho tyring to dangle a stale unwanted meat to our faces let them eat their presid1ocy, we are officially done with project Nigeria. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Commonsense99: This is the problem with igbos, they're never with one voice. Get presidency, you should all support one person then you can pull enough resources to your place before pulling out for Biafra. Is it by commenting on Nairaland that biafra will be given? Support Igbo presidency and pull more resources to you. Nnamdi kanu cannot do anything about secession for now, Nigeria is a sovereign democratic nation. Think and get the presidency first then start working towards achieving your eventual pull out of the country. Commenting, protest, even war cannot bring Biafra no leader will allow it so he won't be termed "weak". I am Yoruba but it is better for Igbos to SPEAK With one voice stop all these unwise division amongst yourselves. Play the politics the Nigerian way! gather your people and support one person. Stop all these tribal nonsense and name calling as though you're kids. Just my humble opinion. 4 Likes |
