Morning all, please I just landed a lecturing Job and have been offered appointment letter with my annual salary stated clearly. I just want to know if their is other incentives that follows apart from the annual salary. The appointment is that of a Federal University. Thanks as you reply. |
Re: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by chrisifeanyi: 1:14pm On Jul 06, 2020 |
Fonize: Is a consolidated salary so don't expect any other incentive. However, depending on the institution you can publish handouts for students and sale, some institutions share IGR to staff at some point. Make sure you join cooperative immediately. It will help you a lot. Have a sound moral principle to build your career on. Congrats! 2 Likes |

Fonize: What they offered in your offer letter isn't what you're going to be receiving. Trust me. There are other allowances not included. When I got my offer letter last year from a Federal University, I nearly turned it down. God being so kind, I made further enquiries and got to know that it's way higher than what was on my offer letter as they only indicate your annual basic salary on the offer letter leaving out your allowances which must be paid. Just ask your colleagues and you will see that I'm saying the truth. Don't be scared with what is there. It's actually higher than that 2 Likes |

Samakus: You are right. I was employed last year too and when I divided my annual basic salary I was shocked because I had another appointment which was a bit higher than the federal appointment. Luckily for me, I was told that there are allowances that are accrued but not in the appointment letter. I accepted and I was glad I did. 2 Likes |

UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA OFFICE OF THE BURSAR From: Bursar Our Ref: UNN/B/01/D/MIS To: University Community Date: July 6, 2020 MATTERS ARISING FROM PAYMENT OF JUNE 2020 SALARIES BY IPPIS Sequel to the complaints and issues arising from the payment of June Salaries, I wish to clear the air and notify our Staff appropriately on some of the reasons for the shortfall experienced by all of us. Third party deductions were fully implemented in June 2020 Payroll. These deductions like ICT was supposed to have commenced in February payroll but was not implemented until April 2020 payroll. The N4000 shortfall experienced by us all was because the omitted deduction for February and March was deducted in June 2020 Payroll. Our colleagues living on campus also had house rent and electricity bill deducted as was the practice from their salaries at source. Most staff in this category had not paid since February especially the Academics who did not enroll on IPPIS. Their outstanding liabilities deducted by IPPIS in June payroll were for 5 months. Salary advance deduction was implemented for applicable Staff in June payroll. This implies that if you were given salary advance by the University, the deduction commenced effective June 2020 payroll and will continue until the debt is cleared by the concerned staff. Cooperative deductions will commence in July payroll. It was not deducted in June payroll but this is only applicable to those who requested for this deduction under the faculty of Environmental Sciences Cooperative Society. In summary, if you had a N4000 Shortfall in June, it was for ICT deduction for February and March 2020. If you had a shortfall of N10, 000, it was for ICT deduction from February to June 2020. This is more applicable to the Academics not enrolled on IPPIS during the capturing exercise in December 2019. If you experienced more than the above stated amount, it is for house rent and electricity bill for Staff quarters based on the outstanding months the staff owes. The salaries are expected to return to normal in July 2020 Payroll under IPPIS since they have recovered all our outstanding deductions. We are also working round the clock with the IPPIS office to resolve the issue of pay slips and we are hopeful to be able to do so soonest especially in the implementation of emailing pay slips to the registered mailbox of staff.
