Over 5,000 South African Police Service members and other security forces in the country have contracted the novel coronavirus.

Speaking on Friday, Police Minister Bheki Cele said 36 officers had died as a result of the disease.

He says hundreds of police stations across the country have had to be temporarily shut for decontamination after cases were reported.

South Africa currently has over 250,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The station is still open till now
