NONNYG: I usually think about my family and friends. Then I think about all the craziness in Lagos, from danfo, arguing with conductor, climbing pole to fix light, the road side markets, funny incidents that I experienced, and I laugh. Sometimes I watch Nigerian news on my phone, just to hear the accent and see Lagos. Then I think about my life before I came to Germany, my childhood, how I suffered, how I got my visa. My best memory is usually about what happened after I got my visa. How I felt, the day I was traveling at the airport, the first day I landed in Germany, my first months in Germany, then I go back to my life in Nigeria. I tell you, it’s a great feeling. I just sit alone and laugh. Then I take a deep breath and say to myself “I’m here now, the storm is over, I can travel anywhere I want”. Nigeria feels like a shit hole when you’re living there, but when you live abroad, you’ll miss Nigeria. You don’t wish to go back there but you’ll just miss the simplicity of life in Nigeria. The sense of humor and friendliness. One story I never forget, is the day I got my admission letter after so many rejections. Then the day I was leaving Nigeria, how my family reacted, my experience at the airport. All the images flash before my eyes like a movie. 64 Likes 8 Shares |

Clicked: I'm not sure which section of the constitution it is mentioned but to renounce Nigerian citizenship will require the assent of the president. So effectively, you and your generations are Nigerians for life. 1 Like |

Another great memory is usually my NYSC days and job hunting. Walking around Ikeja with my CV, sweating under hot sun and wiping my face with dirty handkerchief, my face was so dark from the sun, drinking pure water on the road, then stopping at Ikeja under bridge to eat Eggroll and drink coke. Then I compare my pictures back then to now. And I’m like “damn, na me be dis?” My skin has really changed. 35 Likes 1 Share |

Danielhouston:Everything is time. Some people have seen things in life though. It's a great thing things have improved greatly and you're in a better place. You've got a chance to work you way up there and THINK STRAIGHT. Na you fit go somewhere with headphones to relax. The way you pour things directly from your heart into writing is remarkable. 6 Likes |

UrFears: From my experience, they are usually smarter than the Nigerian men. They are also very good at keeping secrets, that you’ll never know what’s going on in their life. You won’t even know when they get their papers. You’ll just hear that the Nigerian lady you studied with, has moved to Cologne and later you hear she’s married with 2 kids. There are lots of them dating white men. Not married, but dating. White men tend to love them, but I think it’s a fetish thing. The ones focused on marriage, tend to marry older white men in their late 30s and 40s. Some in their 50s. And the white men take care of them, financially. Especially those German men in Munich and Nürnberg with so much money. Some Nigerian ladies here are only interested in Nigerian men. The young white guys are not looking for marriage or to have kids any time soon. But they like to have sex with black women. You’ll hear them say stupid things like “I’ve never been with a black woman before, I want to try”. As if Black women are products you can “try” to see if you like or not. They objectify black women a lot. If you’re interested in German men, you should know that they are uncircumcised. So don’t be shocked when he gets naked and the head of his d*ck looks like a shower cap. They don’t cut their foreskin. It’s a common thing with EU men. So yeah, they date and marry white men and some of them would only be with a Nigerian man. If you’re a single Nigerian lady coming here, be open minded to other races and cultures. They don’t have to be German. There are men from all over the world, in Germany. Even if your husband is from another EU country, you will still get a residence permit and be able to live and work in Germany. 20 Likes 1 Share |

you4me: You earn $1000 a month. How much is rent? Health insurance? Internet? Food? Transportation? Telephone bill? Leisure? What if you have to pay fine? Remember you still have to pay tax. All from the $1000. And you want to save money for German blocked acct that is €10,000. Ok ooo 8 Likes 1 Share |

error4040: E-scooters were legally approved as a means of transportation in Germany last year. There are rules regarding speed limits, safety, and don’t ride them on the pavement or places with pedestrians. It has become a trend in Berlin and some people just want to ride a scooter because they can. They’re not going anywhere, they just want to have fun. You can buy your own scooter, though it’s expensive. People have accidents on that thing and it annoys me. Infact, it annoys everybody. If you want to offend people in Berlin, ride a scooter and park it anywhere. Those scooters you see on the streets are customized from certain companies. You cannot steal them. They have trackers and even if you steal them, you cannot operate them without an App. They only work via app, which you can use to unlock them. There are also cars and bicycles like this in Germany. An example is Car2go. These are cars you see on the street. You can only unlock them from the app, pay, and drive them. The car opens after you’ve activated them online. When you get to your destination, you can park them anywhere. Someone else can drive them from there. Everything you need is in the car. This is great for people who want to drive but don’t have a car. You can’t steal them either. 28 Likes 1 Share |
