RTSC:Baba calm down. U think those countries u mentioned are so jobless to pick up a fight with mere third world country (thanks to our looters/leaders) as ours? Since the creation of Nigeria, have we ever fought any international/conventional war before? What have we got that would make them ever take us as a threat? The funds channeled to that useless thing should have been forwarded to saving our sinking economy. |
Nigeria already has long range rockets. The Otomat systems on Nigerian warships are capable of 180km. even the Tucano prop planes we bought have AIM 9 missiles with 22 mile range. So what the OP is saying is that Nigeria is now seeking to produce indigenous missiles. As for France attacking Nigeria, forget it. The French are too invested here. They can seek to undermine us politically in the region but they are not yet mad enough to attack us. Any of their satellites that attacks us will get a bloody nose because Nigeria has more force projection capability than any of our neighbours. Nigeria is not where it should be, but only a fool wakes up a sleeping giant. Best let it sleep. Actually, it will be best not to wish for them to attack us. France is one of the most military advanced nations of the world n also a hub for satellite research projects in Europe. Most of the satellites used in west Africa were developed in France. Saying their satellite will receive a bloody noise is from our neighbors own which is heavily dependent on France is quite funny. We won't even stand a chance sef. European investments in Nigeria is usually temporary n can be sold off any time they want. They av more investments in their colonies than here. |

RTSC: Do you think if NATO n Nigeria should get into a confrontation our locally made missiles can hit their airstrikes? Mmmmmm we won't even get a chance against them. Lybia was more economically developed than Nigeria even though Nigeria has more oil than it. But truth be told, no country in Africa can stand NATO. So that should not be a favourable comparison. |

Bros France is a country that works on self interest. It's trade with Nigeria is €8.6bn greater than it's investments in Ivory Coast, South Africa and Senegal combined. There is no way they would put those investments jeopardy at a time when the US and UK it's main trading partners are no longer reliable sources and China is making inroads into it's traditional allies in Africa. Nigeria has always been a regional power. It does not have any wish to become a continental power and is well able to maintain its stance. France is a secondary global power but it acts always in it's financial interests. Always. |

EgusiShankly: I know that operational missile use is extremely limited and NNS Aradu has severely degraded but arms sources still list the following as part of Nigeria's arsenal AR-1 air-to-ground missile PL-9 AAM Swingfire Anti-tank guided missile Blowpipe Air defense system Strela 2 MANPAD Roland Air defense system Otomat Anti-ship missile Aspide Surface-to-air missile 9K114 Shturm air-to-ground missile Sea cat surface-to-air missile Exocet anti-ship missile Red Arrow 12E (‘Hongjian-12E’, or HJ-12E) man-portable anti-tank guided missile If you have information to the contrary, I would be happy to receive the benefit of it. |

Great development! The only issue is for this innovation to ultimately make it into service. The Nigerian security forces are fond of making technological innovations that are never heard of after the prototype phase. E.g. -Air beetle trainer aircraft -Igirigi APC - Gulma and Amebo UAVs - Farawa 2 trainer aircraft etc. |
Re: NASDRA And The Air Force Collaborate To Build Guided Missiles by VonSmallhausen: 11:08pm On Jul 11, 2020 |
BreconHills: Its tough to know what is functional or not, but one needs to bear in mind that these weapon systems consist of the Launchers and the missiles themselves. While the launchers are most likely still available, the missiles may have expired or have been expended in training or actual combat, and would need to be replaced. So the question is have we been replacing the missiles as and when due? |
