Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam have officially confirmed the signing of one-cap Nigeria international Maduka Okoye, who was on the books of German outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf in the recently concluded season.

Okoye has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with De Kasteelheren, with an option for another two seasons, subject to a medical examination.

The 20-year-old is currently behind Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa in Gernot Rohr's pecking order of goalkeepers but has targeted the Super Eagles number one position now that he has joined a top-flight club where he could feature for the first team.

In his first words after the deal was confirmed, Okoye told Sparta Rotterdam's official YouTube account when asked about his debut for the national team: "Crazy, big, important moment for myself. It's important for me to play here, it's
easier for me to get the number one spot for Nigeria, so I'll put everything into it and give everything".

There were a lot of clubs interested in signing the Super Eagle but he chose to move to Sparta Rotterdam.

"I think that this is the right spot for me, for my future, for preparing the next step, a bigger step and I just can't wait to get started with the guys.

"I got in contact with Sparta two months ago. They told me their plans for me and everything sounds great and that's why I chose here because I feel it's the right place for me and I feel home already."

On his expectations for the 2020-2021 season, Okoye stated : I expect a lot for myself, I have to work hard, fight for the number one spot and give my best to help the team and myself."

Okoye, who remains eligible to represent Germany at international level, played for the youth team of Bayer Leverkusen prior to his move to Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2017.

With all the suspense around Osimhen, Napoli fans will expect him to hit the ground running if he takes up the challenge. The boy has put lots of pressure on himself. I hope they won't be impatient with him if he fails to impress instantly.

Anguissa of Villareal has been a delight to watch with deft touches, his game has improved a lot in the mid field and I hope he moves to a better team where his development can be further enhanced.
Meanwhile in the present match of Villareal against Sociedad Chuks is on the bench

"THE GUY ON GREEN"
(The Man Who Had No Name...)

He was barely 13 when he lost his mum and as if that was not enough, 3months after losing his mum, his father lost his job.

The last among 7 siblings, be started hustling in the streets of Lagos at a young age...

His eldest brother sold newspapers, sisters sold oranges on the street while he was among those small children hawking bottled water along Ojota road in Lagos.

Life was hard living in one of Lagos biggest refuse dump sites in Olusosun, he still had a dream...a very valid dream..

His father wanted him to become a medical doctor but he dropped out of school to pursue his own dream of becoming a footballer but his father still supported him.

He kept playing street football and was only a youth player of the then Ultimate Strikers Academy, he never played.

In 2014 at age 16 he went for the Nigeria Under-17 team screening held in Abuja by coach Amuneke.

More than 2million players were in the Abuja stadium and they were both given 15mins to impress.

He scored 2goals in 15minutes but the tired Amuneke sent him away with the others.

But as they left, he heard Nigeria team doctor telling the coach Amuneke to try out "The guy on green"

Coach Amuneke turned and called out "The guy on green!!!"...he turned because he wore green, ran back and the coach said..."You no dey chop? why you lean like this...sit down!"

And that was how he got selected into the Under-17 WC team, he later went on to win the following...

• 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup
• 2015 FIFA U-17 Golden Boot (Highest Goal Scorer)
• 2015 FIFA Silver shoe award (Second Best Player)

Then the European big clubs came calling...
On January 5th 2017 he signed for Wolfsburg in Germany and he was supposed to start living his dream now right..Life got tougher for him.

The coach that brought him to Germany got sacked and he was injured in his right knee (a torn meniscus injury) and had to be operated 3 times.
After surgery, he started training to get fit, while training he had a shoulder injury that needed another surgery.

After surgery he came back to Nigeria to be with his family and get fitter before returning to Germany...He got better and even went to church for thanksgiving..

He was about to travel back to Germany,he had his bags packed when he woke and found himself in a hospital bed in Lagos.

Wolfsburg thought he didn't want to come back for pre-season and asked for doctors report and pictures which he did.

He was diagnosed of malaria and typhoid.

He got better, traveled back to Wolfsburg and for 3weeks he was quarantined away from the team.

Wolfsburg decided to loan him and he agreed because he wanted to play football, he even decided to play for the lower division of the German league but Belgian top division club came calling, ZULTE WAREGEM in Belgium wanted him on loan, so he went to train with them, they tested him and found out he still had malaria but the coach told him to keep training...

For 3weeks he trained, scoring goals in training and the coach promised him, they would sign him...

Finally an escape route but on the eve to the day he would be signed, his agent was called and told he wasn't needed again.

He went to Wolfsburg who relegated him to the Under-19 team to train so he could be fit to be loaned out later...

Whilst training, another club called It was the Belgian Champions CLUB BRUGGE, He was happy, went to Belgium where he passed his medical and the team doctor told him it's left for the club president to make the move official.

The deal was never made official as Club President turned him down AGAIN...He was broken!

He went back again to Germany, would wake up by 4am to cry, he told his agent not to worry about any transfer again so as to allow him stay and fight for his place in Germany but....

On a Wednesday morning, 5days to the closure of the European transfer market, he got a call It was a call from another Belgian Club, this time CHARLEROI FC, a voice introduced himself as the Club president and told him "Can you come to Charleroi, I want to sign you"

He left for Belgian on road with his agent and they spent 7hours, when he got to Belgium..HE GOT SIGNED.

For a player that hasn't scored a goal in 2yrs of turning pro...He scored 20goals in 36 app for the club and later left to join French Club Lille

He has been tearing up the French league.

"He is a beast...He has a lion heart"
- John Ogu

"He is the crown Prince to the throne of Nigerian attackers"
- Odion Ighalo

He is one the hottest top prospects in world football at the moment...

He is VICTOR JAMES OSIMHEN!!!

The story was posted by a guy on Twitter named sports dokita (odogwu) @Sports_Doctor2 and I decided to share here.

Newcastle United Interested In Signing Leicester City's Nigeria International Striker
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that English Premier League side Newcastle United have set the wheels in motion to sign Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho in the summer transfer window.

Whether or not a takeover is completed before the start of the upcoming season, the Magpies maintain an interest in the Nigeria international, who is represented by one of the most powerful agencies in the world, Stellar Group.

Stellar Group has close links with Newcastle United, as they handle the affairs of first-team stars Jonjo Shelvey, Ciaran Clark, Andy Carroll and Javier Manquillo per Transfermarkt.

Newcastle United are in the market for a striker and have identified Iheanacho as a top summer transfer target because of his Premier League experience, having spent about five years in England.

Iheanacho has rejuvenated his career this term and has forced his way into Leicester City's starting lineup since the restart, partnering Jamie Vardy in attack four times.

The 23-year-old is tied to The Foxes until the end of the 2021-2022 campaign.
