Sir like I said, I have paid the £1000 upfront fee, what are the next step to be taking and how will I go about for the okay to board (OTB) document, and sir like how much will have I have to hold as an student going to Cyprus, because am sponsoring myself, thirdly am I to convert the money into euro before departing of I can make use of Nigeria bank ATM in Cyprus I’m using Access and stanbic bank.

You will wait for the university to confirm your payment, then they will issue you an unconditional acceptance letter and tuition fee payment receipt. Then you will be needing those two documents for either Visa or OKTB.

and how will I go about for the okay to board (OTB) document,

This requires mainly: the unconditional acceptance letter, payment of tuition, international passport and original Olevel result and a Turkish airline return flight ticket. Meanwhile, for the upcoming semester as I stated before Turkish airline and immigration are yet to clarify on OKTB policy or visa regulations considering the country of applicants. So kindly wait and take time to study Turkish embassy website Abuja.

North Cyprus (TRNC) does not have a stipulated amount that a new student must have at the time of arrival, unlike South Cyprus that stipulates 2000 euro. But for TRNC, I encourage you to have cash that can pay for 1-year accommodation fees and some living expenses, so in case you are asked upon arrival or have an urgent need, you can present so much amount on the average 2000$.

The official currency of TRNC is Turkish lira which is used by stores, taxi, and 98% of outlets except for payment of Tuition fee which is often in Foreign currency.
However, different cities in TRNC tends to price accommodation in a different currency. For instance; Girne (the tourist city of TRNC) charges British pounds for accommodation, Lefkosia (capital city, where your school is located), most tenants demand Euro while Famagusta (student city where EMU is located) uses Turkish lira.

You can just convert your money to USD or EURO mainly for accommodation payment, while other lifestyle spendings will be TL. Yes, those Access bank and Stanbic ATM cards work and each bank has its own exchange rate and monthly/daily withdrawal limit.

To save money and help yourself/sponsor, I encourage you to check out quite cheaper apartment outside that you can share with another student maybe 2 bed flat that can be shared roomwise. This way you will have savings and pay comparably less.

Let me give you an estimated bill; note that this is based on the current situation and can change anytime, so take it as rough estimates:

-----Per year undergraduate tuition of CIU is 3100 euro and undergraduate is 4 years, meaning 12,400 euro if no increases.
-----Average accommodation cost in the location where CIU is located will be 1900 euro per year if shared; x times 4 will be 7600 euro provided no increases.
-----If you cook your food and live normal/average student lifestyle (excluding gambling, alcohol, smoking and other related vices); you can spend 130 euro monthly on average which may set to around 1600 euro per year.

----In school, you may need to buy some books, photocopy, flex and related.....so you can keep that like 600 euro per year on average

So these estimates exclude travelling abroad, visa to another country in case you want to have some vacations, shoes/wears and spending on man or woman in case you fall in love

So in 4 years: 12,400 + 7600 +6400 +2400 = nearly 29K euro which could be nearly 12.5 million naira (considering current exchange rate). So you can do the maths and see how much you already paid, how much you have ready to foot the bills.

Word of advice and pathway: Ensure that at least you or your parents/sponsor are financially ready. Jobs are scarce in various countries and in most cases, the wages from jobs likely won't be enough to foot all (entire) educational bills. Please take note this is not just about Cyprus but in many developed countries, I have firsthand experience personally as a student in other countries and also sponsoring younger ones in countries like Canada and with students, I have recruited to other nations. So be prepared.

----You can focus more on your education, get remarkable grades and apply for additional scholarships while still studying

----Internet and electricity is available and cheap in Cyprus; make use of these in a legal way to learn demanding skills beyond your degree so that it can give you career leverage and financial freedom. Don't just go and get CGPA of 4.999 (high results) without developing skills/experience that makes you competitive (this type of skills may not be available or less structured in the university, so you will learn on your own some time with guidance).

----Join reputable associations, internships and start-ups related to your field before you graduate to improve your networking.

You are allowed to bring in maximum 10,000 euros to Cyprus but beyond that, you have to declare at point of entry. However, I encourage you to travel with little money while the rest can be sent over to you or yourself via bank transaction. You can open banks in Cyprus and transfer to yourself..this way you can avoid stories that touch the kidney.

Yes, there are restaurants and stores selling African food materials and Nigeria specifically, seems they are expensive. Except for last year, it's nearly 10 years I eat Nigerian food well and it's too pepperish and almost lost my tongue........A restaurant few kilometres to my house sell like 10-15$ per plate (TL equivalent) .........You are encouraged to take along Nigerian food materials when travelling. Also, learn to eat foreign food.

Both ministries to avoid stories. Ministry of education is the main one but sometime just to avoid delay you can take also to MFA.

Sir I have a friend who is also interested in applying for CIU but his WASC result isn’t that good, is there anything that could be done to assist

Does your friend has at least 5 credits including maths and English ?

The result is bad, not good at all sir

Then your friend should go and sit down and re-write the exam if is that bad to get university ready results.

If the students cannot pass the major Olevel subjects successfully such students does not have a business to be in the university for now.......I don’t know how the student will pass university courses.

Good morning guys. I have paid my initial deposit of 1000 euro last week Friday and my school have replied my mail that the money has reflected in the account on Tuesday, and since then I have been expecting them to send my acceptance letter and school fees receipt to me, please,I will like to know the days it normally take schools to send acceptance letter after the initial payment. (CIU)
