Edopesin: I know a lot of people would find it hard to believe but Dessers is just a poor man's Kane. On the same level as prime Harry Kane. It was the same thing I said of Leandro Trossard when he played for Genk, and everyone laughed. But this season he is the best player at Brighton and one of the best playmakers in the EPL. When you watch a player, you check for more than goals, this is how you'll know a player that can thrive at any team. Haaland is nowhere, I repeat, nowhere near Dessers. 1 Like |

all the parties - the player, the Neapolitan club and also Gerard Lopez - met last night in Sardinia to continue concrete discussions about the transfer of the Nigerian centre-forward, who recently changed agents. The meeting was confirmed by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who said the Italian club are determined to complete the transfer quickly and carry out the player's medical check-ups in the coming days and even hours. The team added that the weekend was decisive as Osimhen asked Lille not to pursue negotiations with other interested clubs, wishing to join the Italian club for good after a long reflection and discussions with Gerard Lopez. His choice was based on Napoli's strong desire to attract him into its ranks, from the president to coach Gennaro Gattuso, who was prepared to lower his salary to facilitate the 21-year-old's arrival. If negotiations are still to continue today, the French newspaper reports that Lille are asking their Neapolitan counterpart for 81 million euros, which would make the Nigerian the biggest sale in the club's history (ahead of Nicolas Pépé's 80 million) but also the biggest purchase in Naples' history. In Italy, Osimhen could earn six to seven times his current salary at Lille (estimated at €80,000 gross per month). 1 Like |

Onomah really needs to apply himself to make himself the undisputed first choice AM of this Fulham side, before they get to the EPL, if he keeps alternating between CM, DM and AM, he would be lost if Fulham gets promoted, because both Seri and Anguissa have had great seasons out on loan. |

Ayo Akinola scores brace as Toronto FC hold 10-man DC United Shina Oludare | @Sportingshina The Reds could not get past Ben Olsen’s men despite racing into a two-goal lead courtesy of the Nigerian prospect Toronto FC played out a 2-2 draw with DC United in their opening game of the MLS is Back Tournament played inside ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex Ayo Akinola’s double powered Greg Vanney’s men to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but DC United levelled the scores in the last 45 minutes despite having one of their players sent off. Akinola put the Reds ahead after 12 minutes with a screamer after receiving the ball from Alejandro Pozuelo, the 20-year-old unleashed a powerful shot past goalkeeper Bill Hamid. A minute before the half-time break, he completed his brace with Pozuelo providing the assist again. Pozuelo won possession in the attacking third with a high press before racing towards the back post where Akinola was wide open for the simplest of finishes. DC United looked to be dead and buried before the half-time whistle after Junior Moreno was sent off by referee Fotis Bazakos for a second caution. Nevertheless, that did not deter Ben Olsen’s side as they braved the odds in the second-half to ensure that the game ended on a no winner, no vanquished note. Debutant Federico Higuain pulled one back for the Black and Red in the 84th minute – four minutes after replacing Ulises Segura. He wasted no time making an impression, scoring a delightful chip before Frederic Brilliant headed home the equaliser past goalkeeper Quentin Westberg in the 91st minute. Akinola could have sealed the winner for Vanney’s team but Hamid deflected away his header – which also robbed him of the chance of completing a hat-trick. Toronto FC come up against Montreal Impact, who bowed 1-0 to New England Revolution, in their next game on July 16. Born to Nigerian parents in Detroit, the forward - who has represented the United States at the U15, U17 and U20level - is eligible to play for the Americans, Canada and Nigeria at senior level. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had reached out to him to switch his allegiance to his fatherland, however, Akinola’s response was that he would make his choice at a later stage. Fulham lack urgency and don't seem to break with any conviction. They need to win and they are playing like they need a draw. Tega substituted for another midfielder getting tired but was probably one of thier better players indisputably if not best. Fulham lack urgency and are not going to win thus game. |
