alexistaiwo: I also just remembered another annoying thing about the old guard- the misplaced and cringey soundtracks within the film. The sound guys too should be executed |

pu7pl3: Just admit that you lack creativity. Armoured piercing bullets, quick sand or lava traps are reasonable tools in incapacitating immortals. Please, stop mocking things you dont want to understand. |

My God! Some people can't stop mentioning my name! How many times in the past week?? Do they want to turn me into a star?? Anyway, I wonder if I should do a post about breakout movies tonight. I've got the trinity of breakout movies on my mind. 1 Like 1 Share |

GracieX3: You do realize that they were held captive in a RESEARCH FACILITY, as such, the villains location makes sense. Your so called creativity is quite laughable. |

The Old Guard 2020 I liked it. The acting was good, the characters were well fleshed out (some more than others) and the chemistry between the characters was quite visible. I like how the final boss was vanquished but overall I thought the could have improved the fight scenes. The fights in Atomic blond starring Charlize Theron were done better. The story isn't great and was predicable at times but at least it was enjoyable. The villain is also a cliché. I still don't know how I feel about the mythos of the movie being left surface level. At the end of the movie we still don't know where their powers come from. Why does someone lose their power? We also don't really know the full extent of their regenerative power. Can they regrow a limb or head? It would have been cool to see someone regrow a limb or something. Though they may be saving some answers for the sequel. I also think that the movie was too long. 10-15 minutes could have been cut from the movie without any detriment to the story. Overall I'm definitely look forward to the sequel if and when it comes out. 7.5/10 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Gmajor: This center of gravity has come again. Ogbeni, the keyword is "secure". A secure facility. That building was far from secure. A skyscraper in the middle of the city. wow. |

The truth is that a lot of people don't really know how to criticize movies. Oftentimes, you'll hear people say that a movie is filled with plot holes or that the characters don't make good decision and thus the movie is bad. Even in real life, people make poor decisions and unless the poor decisions are so bad, extremely unfantomanly or incredibly dumb, it doesn't necessarily make a movie bad. * Most people are not geniuses, thus, they make shitty plans and decisions * People get outsmarted thus thwarting their plans or decisions * Sometimes plans have to be made on the fly or amid stressful circumstances thereby jeopardizing the efficacy of the plan. Etc Movies require some suspension of disbelief in order for you to enjoy them. When you go through most movies with a fine tooth comb, you'll see a lot of things that don't make sense. Someone mentioned Avengers and the MCU recently on this thread as regards Old Guard, but I bet that the person doesn't admit that there are a lot of things in the MCU that doesn't make sense. For instance, why is everyone who doesn't have super powers not wear an Iron Man suit? 1 Like |

GracieX3: What makes you think the location is not secure? The black chick was only able to get into the facility because she had inside help. The room where the captives where held is behind a shit tonn of locks. The room has no window so it's not possible to jump in from outside. The also have dozens of security guards that are armed to he teeth. Simply because the movie didn't go the exact thing you want does not mean it was bad. |

Once upon a time in America 10/10 - Perfect in every way. I never thought I would see a picture I would hold in the same reverence as the godfather. The cinematography, the pacing, the acting and the resonating scores that just won't leave your head after you hear them are all reminiscent of the perfection Francis Ford Coppola achieved with the two godfathers. Unlike most gangster films, this movie depicts its characters from their adolescent years, you get to see the environment that shaped them into what they become and circumstances beyond their control that messes up their upbringings. It's about the characters, every one of them has a soul and could be felt throughout the film. It explores friendship and betrayal perfectly and doesn't shy away from violence and nudity while also portraying the objectification of woman (Feminists aren't going to like the women in this film) from the perspective of the characters it even goes as far as depicting rape in an explicit way. I don't find the movie lacking in any way, 3 hrs 40 mins long and I already watched it 3 times and counting. Rest in peace Ennio Morricone (1928 - 2020) A true legend. |

Gmajor: Internal logic! INTERNAL LOGIC!!! center of gravity, my nigga. Movies can never be 100% realistic or logical. This is even more true for science fiction movies like avengers and the old guard. However, even if a movie does not have to be 100% logical, it must adhere to its internal logic. ILLUSTRATION; In avengers, we have illogical things like Thor's hammer that can fly and produce lightning. Odin put a spell on the hammer such that only righteous people are worthy to lift the hammer. Now, if Thor uses his hammer to deflect a missile, it would be illogical in real life but still consistent with the internal logic of the film, as the hammer can produce immense lightning powers. However, if Black Widow lifts Thor's hammer, it would be against the internal logic of the film as only righteous people can wield the hammer. Applying internal logic to The Old Guard film; 1. How is it that these immortals who have lived for a thousand years could not even afford a decent/secure safe house? All that knowledge and wealth that could be accumulated within those many years....and they couldnt love-vendor out safe houses with laser security and reinforced walls? 2. How is it that the CEO of a billion dollar company (it must be because of its skyscraper building at a city centre) did not have helipad? Seriously. 3. The CEO must have been a genius since he said he was the youngest CEO in the pharmaceutical industry. Now, after seeing that there were immortals who were legendary soldiers, why didnt he take security measures after capturing 2 out of 4? If I knew that an immortal soldier could come for me, I would take my research to a far more secret/secure location. 4. Why did they assume that they were only 4 immortals. Surely, 4 out of 7 billion people is unlikely. The four were not even the same race meaning, there could be Asian or Black immortals spread across the world. I would keep my research top secret. Just look at the secrecy in the research and development of Iphones. Surely, a pharmacologist would be thinking about the spread of the immortality gene across the globe. ----------------------------------------------------------- Also try to understand the flaws of the movie before you claim that others do not know how to critique films 1. The movie was predictable and cliched. I knew that they were going to fight in the CEO's building last last 2. The soundtracks were cringey. How could they play a slow pop/RnB song before a fight scene? Generally, the song choices were ill-fitting. 3. The action scenes were mediocre. It lacked creativity. Someone mentioned better fight scenes in Atomic Blonde. Also why couldnt we get interesting fight scenes where they used their immortality? Like chopping off a hand and throwing it as a decoy? Surely the hand will grow back? Yay, Immortality ati regeneration. 4. Personally, the black girl was too ugly. Damn. I could find better looking used oloshos in alexistaiwo's ghetto. I know that you will disregard my comment and then claim that I like to argue. |

pu7pl3: Ogbeni, use sense. The lava option is to deal with immortals you want to terminate. You can still get DNA from quicksand. Simply cut off the flailing hand of the immortal victim as the nigga is sinking. |

Logic007: I have no lack of creativity, the movie was a "testing the waters" kind of movie obviously setting up something bigger that could kickstart a franchise and it was done well..a strong 7.5... But MC creativity logic from obalende says there should have been quicksand and Larva and the absence of those means the total failure of the movie
