During my stay in kano, I worked there as a solvent plant operator in the old plant while we are testing running this new one.it get to a certain level when the company run out of soybean that's why I have to leave when they told me that they them self the didn't when they will receiving their other
The factory comprise of
1200 tonne per day of solvent plant
Refinery that refine the crude from solvent plant (the refinery is being run by Indians)
Laboratory for testing.
As a graduate of chemical engineer I really learnt a lot during my stay cos i was expose to real practical not book book book alone. It a nice place to work.

From your actual and objective analysis, does the factory cost $50 million dollars?

A big congrats to the man who initiated and completed that project...congrats to the people of Kano state. This is good investment.

N100m can not get you a 3 bedroom house in some parts of Abuja or Lagos.

N400m can not complete a fraction of that project. I know the temptation to raise eye brow and have doubts when certain amounts of money is mentioned. This is good project from someone with good vision.

I’ll take this factory in exchange for 3 breweries in my region.

I know I wasn’t mentioned but can I ask you..

How do you expect a fresh graduate who went there for work experience and someone who isn’t a cost analyst, an economist and a building engineer to answer that question??

We do not question the cost of Dino Melaye’s automobiles, we do not question the costs spent by Bello Mohammed and his children, we do not question the cost of abandoned metro rail projects in Rivers state, we do not question the cost of completing fly overs in Kano state!!!

It’s the cost of completing a vegetable oil factory that we will have to moan about.

Liesssss. Apart from gas that it is being piped from Ajaokuta to kaduna and Kano, which it is still at infant and kaduna refinery that is moribund, there is no any oil that is piped to the north. And FYI, not every northerner make money from oil, just very few of them. Kano has been a commerce center even before the amalgamation of Nigeria.

Where are the lies?
Oh! You agree to the AKK project but claim it's gas that's being piped. Isn't this gas from crude oil?

Aside the gas piping, how many northerners own oil blocks?
Who own more of the oil blocks in Nigeria?
Where are the MD's and GMD of our indigenous oil companies and subsidiaries from?

Check facts before coming here to say what you don't know.

By the way, your moniker makes it clear where you're coming from....
I'm not surprised.

I asked him because people were raising eyebrows about the cost because of just the few pictures that was uploaded. He has seen the entire facility and will have a better opinion than most people here.

He doesn't need to know the cost to the exact decimal, taking a look at something can give you a rough estimate of the cost. If you come to my clinic, I don't know the prices of many equipment, but from my knowledge and how our Consultants talk about the equipment, I can give a fair estimate.

Kano-based Businessman, Alhaji Isa Gerawa’s new 1,200-tonnes-per-day solvent extraction plant in Kano is slated to create no fewer than 5,000 jobs for the citizens.

The Chairman of Gerawa Global Oil Mills Nigeria Ltd. and, owners of the plant, Alhaji Gerawa highlighted that he has already invested 50 million U.S. dollars (about N18 billion) in the facility, adding that the investment was directed at expanding the soybean processing and vegetable oil refining plant in Kano.

I still think it’s a hard and an unfair question to ask someone like him or even an insider.

A contract executed by Julius Berger would cost different to one done by Raycon construction.

A 4 bedroom house built by Brabus would cost differently from one done by Spyder880. A lot depends on the materials used, procurement, cost of labour etc.

I really doubt the figures too.
How did he come about the credit facility? I mean it's not like soya beans oil is that competitive given the numerous cheaper alternatives.
How does such a factory ever tend to make profit?

I don't need the guy to come and necessarily tell us a price. A "it can be worth it" comment from the guy is enough to put doubters to rest.

You might even be underestimating him by saying he can't give a rough estimate. You'd be surprised by even seeing him listing some equipment that were not captured in the pictures which are far more expensive than what we are seeing here.

This is a forum, let the guy speak for himself.
