Is it possible to have a Research Assistant offer that stated 16hrs per week and still get Teaching Assistant of 20hrs per week? Someone said Research Assistant is towards personal research as a student and it won't count as part of eligible 20hrs per week and there are people that have Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant together. Please I need an experienced clarification. Thanks. |

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm planning on applying for graduate certificate programmes for September fall 2020 in canada. Some schools shows availability for some courses for September fall 2020, my question is that can I still apply and get admitted? Or I rather apply towards January? I'll sincerely appreciate a response from anyone. Thank you. God bless. |

Tonyodg: No you don't require a police character certificate for study permit application if you haven't lived for more than six (6) months in another country. It will end in praise. 4 Likes |

Hassan19: January is your best bet here as most schools are closed for fall 2020 admissions. There is no need to rush, apply for winter intake and package your visa application tightly. It will end in praise. |

owolabia:Its really a good news but but seems mostly for Students/Applicants whose program is gonna be done online or has bin transferred to Online Mode What is the the hope of an applicant whose Program is strictly in-person (No Virtual Class) and its Head of Dept. says: You will be required to be on campus to complete the requirements for so so program this fall and if you do not already have a VISA then you will not be permitted to partake in so so program in September 2020. Unfortunately, the next available intake will be September 2021 Is it a Miracle that should be expected , cos of this challenge of Travel restrictions & September 2021 as an Option is out of it.. |

Dont know about yours but Not for mine. For my MPA in Usask, I am allowed to take 6 credit courses ( which is two 3cu courses) per term . I have correspondences from school to back the above up. quote author=olearypo post=91725286] You need to take at least 3 courses per semester to maintain full time status [/quote] |

From my knowledge, you can work full time on campus during school hours. But not more than 20hrs off campus. milkytins: |

Hello my Ogas, my study permit has been submitted since May for summer session and still in process ever since. No update at all. My LOA expires this month. I just received another LOA from my school for the fall semester yesterday. I intend to start my classes online but how do i go about it since I have a pending application with IRCC since May.Do I raise a webform to inform them about the new LOA or what do I do? So that my study permit can be fast tracked since I intend studying online this fall. 1 Like |

The Truth is that it depends on the school that you are applying to, Some schools will overlook most of your weakness and concentrate on your research proposal and see if they can supervise you, as long as you are paying "FEES".... Once again, it greatly depend on the school but when you contact the school always expatiate on the need for Scholarship/funding for the PHD, PHD is practically a JOB! Good Luck eben1991: |

CIC NEWS CANADA IMMIGRATION NEWSLETTER CIC News / 2020 / July / Canada makes huge changes to help international students Canada makes huge changes to help international students Canada will fast-track study permit processing and is introducing a temporary 2-stage study permit process. July 14, 2020 By Kareem El-Assal IRCC has just announced several major changes to help international students pursue their education in Canada. International students offer significant social and economic benefits which is why Canada seeks to attract them to the country. Prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada hosted over 640,000 international students. In a news release issued today, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said that it will help international students as follows: IRCC will prioritize the processing of study permits for students who have submitted a completed application online so that their permits are processed as soon as possible IRCC is introducing a temporary 2-stage approval process for international students who can not yet submit a completed study permit application and who want to begin their Canadian educational program online. This temporary process is available to students who want to begin their program this fall and who submit their study permit application by September 15, 2020 As previously reported by CIC News in May, IRCC is also enabling students to begin their Canadian studies online while they are still abroad and having that time count towards their Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility so long as they have submitted a study permit application and if at least 50 per cent of the program is completed in Canada. See if you are eligible to study in Canada in fall 2020 Why IRCC is helping international students IRCC says it is rolling out these measures to help students begin their programs in time for the fall 2020 academic year. IRCC recognizes that the global coronavirus crisis is creating uncertainty for international students. In addition, the pandemic has impacted IRCC’s ability to process study permits. However these new changes will help students begin their programs online this fall at a Canadian designated learning institution (DLI). There are numerous benefits to IRCC’s changes. Benefits to international students International students can take comfort in being able to start their Canadian program online which will protect their health and safety and enable them to achieve their various study, career, and immigration objectives. If they wish to begin their Canadian studies this fall, IRCC will do its best to process their study permit as soon as it can. Even if the student is unable to submit a completed study permit application, IRCC will pre-approve them if they meet the conditions outlined below. Students want to come to Canada due to its high-quality of education. In addition, they are attracted by the opportunities to work in Canada during and after their studies, and potentially obtain permanent residence to become the Canadian citizens of the future. IRCC’s new policies are meant to help international students pursue such goals. See if you are eligible to study in Canada in fall 2020 How to get a pre-approval for a study permit IRCC will provide an approval-in-principle for study permits if students pass the first stage. To pass the first stage, study permit applicants must show that: They have been accepted at a Canadian designated learning institution Have enough funds to support their education in Canada Meet all other study permit requirements After passing this stage, students can begin their studies online while still overseas and still have this period count towards their PGWP eligibility and duration (as long as they eventually obtain a study permit). To receive a final approval for a study permit, students will need to complete the application process including submitting biometrics and necessary documents such as a medical exam and police certificate. Upon receiving final approval for their study permit. 1 Like |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Nobody: 3:42pm On Jul 15, 2020 |
Please don't start online classes if you don't have a study permit approval. You can't bully IRCC into giving you a visa. While I agree a that it may end up being easier to get a study permit to Canada now, I have a number of comments I'd consider cocky and unnecessary here on this thread. Don't let internet strangers push you to making a $10,000 mistake. School unless they clearly state otherwise won't refund you for courses you took online because you couldn't get a study permit to complete the program. My simple advice, apply for your VISA/Permit, wait for the decision and defer your admission when necessary. 3 Likes |

please, a friend got an offer for admission, it was stated that she must have a coop work permit to complete the program. pls what does this mean, and will it affect the study visa chance? thank u |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Lekiboboe: 4:49pm On Jul 15, 2020 |
koonleh:This has nothing to do with her Study Visa Chances, and its not a must, except a co-op is an integral part of the program she got admitted for. If a Program has a Co-op component, that means when the students get to the Point of Entry in Canada i.e Airport (after getting an Approval), she will be issued two different work permit , 1. Normal Work Permit 2. Co-op work permit but note that, there are cases the VISA OFFICER would forget to issue a second work permit (co-op) and just give only the normal work permit, so kindly inform the officer immediately and ask for the second work permit. So while this person is applying online for a Canada study Visa, in the Questionnaire part of the application, she will be asked " Is there a Work Component in ur program "?. If the program has that, that She will answer. " yes", She stating yes means that she alrdy have a letter from that school stating that the program has a Work Component (Co-op), the letter mostly comes together with the Letter of Acceptance/Admission Letter. When this happens, she would need to split the Co-op Letter from the Letter of Acceptance the School Sent to Her, so she can upload the Evidence of Co-op letter in its appropriate uploading section. So its when she gets to the Uploading of documents/form section, she would see a column which says, Evidence of Work Requirement in Study that's where she gonna upload that Co-Oop Letter.. (Reason why she is seeing this is cos she said YES that her Program has a work Component in the Questionnaire) SO having a Co-op is not a must, except a co-op is a compulsory course component of that course, and if the school says she must have a Co-op work permit, they would be the one to give that person a Letter that will be presented at the Point of Entry in CANADA to get a Co-op Open Work Permit. 14 Likes 2 Shares |
