Now I am so glad my happiness is not predicated on either being perfect, becoming perfect or having perfect circumstances. My mind is open to enjoying every little moment of my life.

It's my birthday next month. I'll be 32. It's crazy... I dropped religion at 21. There's been a whole lot of unlearning, weeding my mind of seeds planted carefully long time ago. It's tough, very tough...but everyday I'm grateful I stopped listening to fear.

Unfortunately, I also developed a negative/pessimistic outlook on life.. rarely taking my self or thoughts serious. My life has been a bit out of balance the past few years, hopefully I can get back on track.

I don't want to be known as an ex-Christian. I think there's more to me than that...and I'm hoping time will reveal more...

I resonate with all you have said and I am approaching that point where exchristian is not my identifier.

I feel you on the pessimism, its an easy track to take once the full force of reality dawns on you. How I learnt to deal with it is to remind myself that I am alive now and I will feel all the sensations and emotions of a normal human being, whether I care or not so why to live to enjoy it and apply myself to what I can. Also I am not eager to be dead because I have things I look forward to seeing even though they are not guaranteed to come to be, I still yearn for them.

It has fully dawned on me that talking about god is pointless. While I hold out the possibility of the existence of a god, I just get no satisfaction from any of the conversations or arguments, they feel bereft of real substance. No argument is going to convince me a god exists, if one does it is going to have to convince me itself. So I am done with god talks, it was fun though, it stretched my mind and gave my mind a good work out. Thanks to all who were gracious enough to engage, I appreciate you all.

I'd say you are worried and upset about unnecessary things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.

Humanism, def. If you do for those you see God whom you see not is pleased!

When a person forms images of God as you have done here, my Lord, they go looking for that image they formed, and when they don't find the image they formed, rather than accept that the image they formed might be faulty or wrong, they say the image that they formed does not exist. I wonder if that makes you think of a fool.

The smart ones, or non-fools, accept that the images seen from vantage points might look different, even depending on who's looking or how well they can see and how many vantage points they have looked from and how good they are at forming images of what they've seen from their vantage points, and would therefore look with their own eyes from as many vantage points as they can instead of forming images from one or a few vantage points or those images of vantage points made by others.
