“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela
STEM education for young girls has been overlooked in many places around the world, but 2017 Mandela Fellow Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu is working hard to change that. As the founder and CEO of Edufun Technik, she is providing STEM learning and resources to schools and students in eastern Nigeria.

While we might be celebrate this lady for her contribution for the East , I still think it is a celebration of failure and backwardness of the entire nation

Imagine the type of toys we are expected to encourage in this day. I know some people will ask that we "start small and the journey of a thousand miles doesn't start in a day". People, that's a lame excuse.
First, we must agree that there is technological innovation every day and a technological gadget you got last year becomes obsolete before the next year. Take your phones and cars for example.

So if we produce a toy in 2017, that has gone obsolete since 30 years ago, of what benefit is it? On what bigger platform do you want to be recognized? Who will buy it? It's a total rubbish
As in, just look at that contraption called robot in 2020

To make it in technology, you must aim for tomorrow.

Secondly, what has been happening to all the people Nigerian governments have been sending on scholarship since 1999? The Niger-Delta militants, the university scholars, the NNPC scholars? What contributions have they brought back home?
What has the government herself done to encourage technology?
Why is production so expensive is Nigeria?

What is edufun about

EDUFUN TECHNIK is an educational organisation that specializes in creating educational solutions for children and youths to help them to plan and learn through play method, practice, hands-on and learner/child centered method of training while allowing them to immerse themselves in the world of technology and specifically (STEM) education through the STEM LAB. It is our vision to stir up the love of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in children and youths from primary school to tertiary educational level.

Their program is aimed at developing learners’ logical thinking and creativity. It also encourages innovative thinking while introducing them to a successful foundation in the field of STEM at a very early age. Human resource of course is one of the major problems many institutions are facing as regards catering for the vacuum created by inadequate STEM personnel. Therefore apart from the over 200 models covering different fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics which we have imported from STEM appreciative nations like the USA and CHINA to spur up and graduate our state to the world STEM standard with relative results of bringing our industrialization and economic productivity to the world view point and attraction.
Students are extremely curious and impressionable, so instilling an interest at an early age could spark a lasting desire to pursue a career in any field. Most students in our higher institutions today do not know exactly which career or course to choose but just chose by sentiments, peers and parent’s influence. Through STEM Lab students will be exposed to ways of choosing the right careers as they themselves will discover their innate abilities and potentials. By the time a student is ready to enter the work force, they must have acquired enough knowledge to make invaluable contributions to our nation’s STEM industries.
