Not true. Fred did well on his own when McTominay was injured for a long time. Fred did well with even Perreira.

The issue currently is that he is low in confidence to do what he can having been made a bench player. This same thing used to happen to Nani whenever Valencia was back for injury. Some players just can't compete.

Had to rely on counters after we got the first goal.

Pogba was involved many times in the buildup (when’re we were allowed to) and he seems to be getting that match fitness back.

If we have not scored by then, then we can lay siege in their half. But when we gift them the ball almost every time we try to attack in the early stages, their confidence grows. That's a dangerous thing to make your opponent believe they can do damage without being afraid for anything

McTominay got better but i believe it was mainly as a result of maturity than anything JM did different. McTominay's development curve might be a bit skewed because from youth team to senior team he has had to change position about 3 times. If he plays the same position for like2 seasons he would definitely improve enough to justify his place in the squad.

A bit like Fletcher that had to learn how to play as a CM in his 20s (after growing up a right winger) and was on the way to a very good United career when sickness struck.

How do you play out from the back when the opponent is encroaching in your box with 4 of them surrounding your DM and the rest marking every player your CB can easily pass to?
