So then, privately owned, funded and managed Covenant University is nothing like the Islamic university which is being paid for my the governor of one of the poorest states in Nigeria. On the issue of this proposed university: it must be seen as a welcome Development. Education is Education.

May be titled Islamic university, but I am sure when completed, it will include Arts, technology and sciences in its courses of study.

I also know that it will have Christians lecturers among the facilitators of studies when in operation.

Christian students will also (perhaps) study there. So, why should both Christians and Muslims applaud the initiative?

This is not the first Islamic university, there's one in Abeokuta, crescent university owned by Prince Ajibola. There's one in Osborne and another in Ilorin so no big deal in this proposed one that would warrant a state governor to donate state for a private university located outside the state.

it seems you don't understand what he is saying, what he meant was that this Islamic university will be based on Islamic arts, law and philosophy, and not trying to bring others courses aside these. just like a covenant university that some have mentioned, accommodate science, technology and others courses that advance humanity.
in a nutshell, he is saying establishing Islamic university is not bad but they should try to accommodate science, technology and others to the growth of humanity

Good. Now as a private institution, he has every right to give any rules and regulations.

But a governor cannot fund such institution with state finance because he serves the public and last time I checked jigawa is not under any law saying it's only devoted to Islam.
