I think we still have honest, responsible and contented Nigerians, these set of people should be in the minority. I am looking at about 30% of our population.

My opinion though

If we have about 30% of honest and responsible people in Nigeria, the country will be better than this. By my own assessment and projection, we might not have more than 10% of such people.

Massive liquidity in the system. I wonder how the cbn intends to mop up funds in the system. Inflation will only rise higher and dollar will keep rising. That’s the only end result

if u dont increase rate to attract naira investment...people will buy up all available dollar hence spiking rates and devaluation come in and inflation

Thanks, I could wait further till August, i currently have $20k USD i bought at an average of N366/$, currently if i sell, i could make N2.1 million profit but i i intend to wait further for dollar to hit N520 so i will get around N3m profit.

I keep watching the updates everyday, i was badly burnt in 2016 but i have my three eyes open now.

What did I do.

I converted all the dollars ( $1 = 458)

I intend to convert it back to dollars by the end of September when CBN starts selling to BDC at $1=400-420.

You can make a gain of 400, 000 naira in 2 months with this simple strategy.

Treasury Bill is short term, while bond is medium to long term.

Treasury Bill is a money market instrument, while is a capital market debt instrument.

With the current low returns from Treasury Bills, banks will be forced to loan out more money to customers and businesses, provided they are viable and won't lead to an increase in non performing loans.

I was at first bank today to make enquiries about the bond, the first branch I went to said they know nothing about it, checked with stanbic, they are well informed and gave me a form, still not pleased with first bank ignorance, went to my branch with intent to move funds out, then they said no o, we can help you make enquiries, later this evening, I got a call to come on Monday to fill the form. I'm hoping the auction scale through and not stalled by them

Increasing TBills rate to control inflation is a short term solution.
Next year, people will have more money after making profits from the increased rates. Will you increase rates again?
I have an hypothesis that sweet quick solutions like this tend to hurt an economy in the long term. Banks have trillions to put in T-bills and make free money.
Its like postponing the doomsday. Nigeria's economy defies known principles.

Very sad, shameful, what many of us detest but is a bitter truth.
Ours is a system run by crooks, the people, largely ignorant seem to have no choice than to be led like a sheep to the slaughter.

I am 34 yrs and relocated as a single man to Canada last year. I must say one of the mistakes I made was not converting my entire money to USD and save it in my Dorm account before i left. I travelled with $13,000USD and left about 5.4m in my account. I have been getting an interest on the money ever since I left. Right now I don't intend to change it to to any USD. Initially, I was thinking I should convert it to USD and probably use it as down payment for a house here but I have decided that I will invest the money in Nigeria. My plan is to invest it through the compound interest method and add more money to the investment as time goes on. I don't intend to live in Canada forever but I want this 5.4m to be the basis so that after 15 to 20yrs, I can fall back on something when I return to Nigeria. My bosses in the house, Pls what will be your advice. I will indeed like to target the interstate compounding investments. Thanks.

My 2 cents is use the money for down payment of a house in Canada, then when you decided to comeback to Nigeria, sell the house, use proceeds for your Nigeria return and also remaining to maybe purchase a cheaper property in Canada...remember a house mostly appreciates even faster than the compound interest rule

Buying a house in Canada is not really an investment you are just saving your money. Coz u would av to pay other expenses to maintain the house. If you are buying a rental property apartment yes that makes sense u can get cash flow from the apartment house. Alternatively,
u may invest in bonds and keep compounding the interest to beat inflation.The funny thing is the Canadian dollars does not lose its value that much against the naira . N300 to 1 cad my 2cents
