smallsmall: Maybe you didn't read my comment on the post, i suggested having it inside. I raised the question because she was not satisfy with my response and the position of the door. The door can also be put outside if that is what she is thinking then i will now explain to her the negatives of it. This similar situation has been dictated by clients umpteen times. Some wanted it outside while some inside some don't want it at all while some will never take a design without it. |

ArcToyin:A similar issue to this is that of Guest bedroom. Some think it should be accessed from the Living room, others think it should be from the Ante room thereby blocking the room from the main house. My question now is " what should be the right practice?" |

Good morning house... 1. Is 100,000 a reasonable price to pay for workmanship to plaster a 4 bd apartment in and out? Or what's a fair price? 2. Is it advisable to plaster during this raining season? |

I got you wrong, perhaps due to how you phrase it. We have builder, engineer and co here, you will surely get the right info. Just provide the dimension. God will help you too as you try to help your friend Desanta: |

rusep: I suggest that the best way to go is to dig SOAKAWAY now since what you done before is septic and concrete, and then link the formal. Or open the septic, evacuate the waste and now do it well. Hope that will help For assistance call 08038899130 Building Engineering |

rusep: It is not clear how you built the system but I can guess the soakaway is not soaking away water. It is just a storage tank. At the base the water will not soak away faster than it is filled by the household water use because the base will be blocked by settled effluent/sludge but funny enough, ground water especially during rainy season can collect into the tank. The solution is simple. You need to make the tank soak away water from the sides and not the base. So empty the tanks, crack the sides and place pipes (bevel the pipes) so the pipes are facing upwards. Do this from the middle of the tank and a bit nearer to the top of the tank. See attached photo. Sorry, I can't find clear photos. Don't forget to cement the base. Leaving the base not cemented is useless for the intended purpose. All it does is let in rain water into the tank. 1 Like

diordaves:Why do you insist the base be sealed and why do you recommended pipes in the wall instead? |

kunlebonik: Thanks for your response, I already dig the soakaway, the problem is the soakaway is not soaking anything, infact is the one bringing water from the ground. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by diordaves(m): 9:33pm On Jul 17, 2020 |
tonididdy: As you can see from the poster, leaving the base unsealed is useless in letting water out of the tank. But very effective in letting ground water into the tank especially during the rainy season. So the base is better sealed or else water will get into the tank during rainy season and can't go out. In such a scenario, the soakaway is just a storage tank. It is not soaking away waste water. It will get filled in no time. But you need to construct the tank in a way the tank can soak away waste water. The best way is to place pipes by the side as I've already illustrated. The pipes are placed buried into the soil slanted facing upwards and cemented/plastered together with the walls of the tank to hold the pipes in place. This way the pipes lead the waste water straight into the soil. Because the pipes are slanted upwards, ground water if any at that depth (the upper part of the tank) cannot upwardly flow into the tank. Again waste water as from the middle of the tank is free of sludge, so sludge can't block the pipes unlike the base where settled sludge at the bottom can block the base. I hope this helps. 2 Likes |

tonididdy: It is very possible in Niger Delta and parts of Lagos. Think well water. During continuous rain, wells in Niger Delta can fill to the brim just from ground water (water table). |

Hi good people, my site is close to water. Do I need foundation beam or I should just do my normal foundation and put membrane before German floor? |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by chemicool: 12:44am On Jul 18, 2020 |
My question please, if you dig the ground for up to 6 feet on my site, you will have a normal well full of water. How can I go about my foundation in such a land? Not a wetland really. Please I need urgent answer because work will start soon. |
