I want to talk about faith. Of what use is faith in spite of evidence, or the lack thereof? I need rational answers.

Faith is knowledge which You Act on or with, but people keep saying and defining or redefining it with many words and no Practical Use or Beneficial Use!

Faith in Jesus is Based on the Personal Knowing of The Lord, Jesus.

You do not know mr incredible hulk, personally, beyond what you were told by Comics.

faith is a collection of all works done in trust and obedience to God's commandments serving as evidence of your claim to believe.

Your faith is the evidence of your claim to believe

How do you tell truth from falsehood?.

Hope you know it is possible to have faith in a lie and be devoted to it..

If it is true ,it would be evident...

I Expressly Said, Personally, meaning, in Person.

I know Him Personally, For the Benefit of myself, above and beyond what is written of Him whether New Testament, Old Testament, Middle Testament, Out of Testament or No Testament!

And my Conclusion Remains the Same.

So you believe that sometimes in the past ,the creator of the universe impregnated another man's wife ..to give birth to a man that was killed by the Romans for treason..you have faith in this story..

Are you saying that you just suspended your mental capacity for this story?

Faith indeed.

Assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld! Hebrew 11:1

Several decades ago a man observes flying creatures and how they're about the carry heavy objects off the ground despite the gravitational force on the earth surface. He began dreaming of a day when a flying vessel carrying people will become a reality just like
trains moving on rail,
cars moving on road,
boats moving on sea!

Himself and others after him kept building on that dream until today that humans now travel to the US from Africa within few hours through the air (sky), Well that is what true FAITH looks like!

The difference here is a higher intelligent being (God) brought the vision and promised that it will become a reality because some humans will be touched by his spirit to start working on the seemingly unbelievable project.

So when you see this happening, you don't need to see the one who made the promise anymore since you're an eyewitness of the fulfilment of his promise! smiley

I am Clearly Saying, That the Mighty Creator of Man, in Show of His Mightiness to man and the whole world, Did What Has Never Been Done.

In That He Shows The World, That if He Wills it, A Virgin Shall be With Child, Even Though she did not have sex.

An Action of which Has Never Be Done Before and He is Still Keeping it Personal to Him, Alone Today.

Which is what A Mighty God Must Do.

Further, it is Consistent with All His Mighty Actions, which is that, They Are all, First of a Kind and Last of a Kind, at the Same Time; Never Before Seen, Never After Seen.

Exactly as A Mighty Shall Do!

Which "god?" Which "commandments?"

I know of a god that looks like a unicorn and farts rainbows, and the first commandment from this god is: "Anyone who believes in me is a fool"

That god and those commandments? I am guessing no.

Be more specific.

Jesus Christ is the New Covenant agreement that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised to the Nations. This agreement comes complete with blessings, curses, a seal, eligibility requirements, promises, and commandments.
According to Jesus Christ, the agreement, if you love Him, you will submit to His lead(through the Spirit of God) and you must obey His commandments, in order to remain in His love.
When you obey His commandments, you do the works that He commands you and as a result you grow your faith in Him.

When you tell yourself that you would complete your PhD for example, even where all the odds are against you completing it, and without any real evidence that you will, when you believe and continue to read, that is Faith.

Actually, that's action and a history of your own ability… say you have a history of getting Bs to A and you have an interest in your subject material. You study, listen take notes - pass tests. Your "faith" is confidence in yourself to accomplish your goal.

Some people have an irrational view of themselves and this might lead to “faith” in their abilities - even though there is no evidence for it - like some of these folks

But the truth is that this never happened as it is a fabrication by the Romans to mock the creator of heaven and earth... You fell for it..

In my Sleep I can still answer that You Yourself Do Not know if it is a Fabrication or not, for a Truth, for you and I were not there, when it happened.

Which is why I answered that Such Acts Will Be Consistent to the Acts of A God, Who should not Only Do the Possibilities but the Impossibles as Well!!! cheesy

Look.. you already submit to a lot of things you don't like/understand or even agree with on a regular basis. You submit to bad government even when deep down you wish you could do something about it. You submit to driving on bad roads even though you would rather not.

The point is when you have the Spirit of God living inside of you and the rule says that the only way to benefit faith-wise is to submit to His lead, what do you do? Refuse knowing you gain nothing from it?

You can only refuse for so long before you probably drain yourself out , rendering your entire journey towards God meaningless. If you are truly born again, you spent all that time working on obedience in order to get the Spirit of God to come live in you, what have you got to loose?

This is where religion makes people into irresponsible and illogical creatures, in my opinion of course. I am confident you are a "good" person, and if we encountered each other in person, notwithstanding anything religion, we would probably buy drinks and enjoy a wonderful time together.

But then along comes religion. You advocate fully buying into something, without checking it out. But ask yourself, do you do that in any other aspect of your life? Would you send five million naira to a complete stranger because he says "trust me", in the promise of a ten-fold return? Or buy a house without first having it inspected? Of buy a car without checking out how reliable it is? Would you send your children to a school that you did not check out first? Or cross a major express road without looking both ways?

Please, ponder the folly of accepting anything before some form of validation or examination.

Your mistake is that you think faith just comes without checking or inspection. If there is no reason to believe, then it is useless.

In John 6v45, we read jesus saying that WHOEVER wants to do the will of God or has been taught by God would know if his words are true or not and they would come to him. This means that they would be convinced.
There is a certain form of knowledge you have that triggers faith. Faith usually does not need so much rational reasoning before coming alive, but rational reasons could be part of its ingredients.

Even when jesus was recorded as saying to Thomas, blessed are those who have not seen but believe. That belief is still not blind faith, it comes from understanding the scriptures that the messaiah should die and rise again for the hope of Israel to become realized.
Thomas should have understood the scriptures that jesus would rise again, even without seeing. Apart from the scriptures, Thomas had also seen the miracles of jesus, and heard the teachings of jesus, and concluded that jesus was the messiah, if jesus was the Messiah and jesus said he would die and rise again, then Thomas should have faith ( even without further evidence or without seeing) that jesus would rise again from the dead.

It's difficult, but I tried to explain Biblical Faith there, it is not blind or totally without rational as many atheists and even Christians assume.

Faith, is a currency, used in the Kingdom of Heaven. Without faith, it is impossible to have a meaningful transaction with Godhead. The lack of faith, puts you at a disadvantage when dealing with God.

Every human being, including you of course, daily exercises some form, level and/or type of faith.

Exactly, confidence in yourself, in God, or in something, for certain reasons, is what is called Faith.
Even if they have irrational views of themselves, it is still Faith, but not faith on solid grounds.
Faith in jesus or God to me, is based on solid grounds, if the words of jesus when applied to my life for instance, turn things around for me as compared to my previous ways, then I can say that I have some reasons for my faith( they may not be completely rational reasons and they may be subjective, but at least they are also not totally irrational as well nor am I without reasons for believing).
