finally there is no religious tolerance over there. it is a just media and paper sophisticated tolerance.... there is deep seated mistrust if not Muslims in lagos east won't be asking to occupying the senatorial seat... akintola won't be questioning why ekiti has all her commissioners nearly Christian without sharing the slot 50:50. those who live by propaganda dies by propaganda. 9 Likes |

BoboNkiti19: Under normal circumstances, there will be such but it's minimal, hence this famous proverb in Yoruba land - Iwalesin (meaning behavior is religion, if I get the translation well). I'm a Christian, some years back I worked in a farm, I'm a night staff, we don't have anywhere to sleep at night, except inside mosque. Will I say because I'm a Christian, I won't sleep in a mosque? what will happen to me? Like I said there will be such in everywhere but it's just minimal, check the guy family, there will be Christians in his family, will he pick up arms against his family? reason why religion can never divide Yorubas. Even the kings don't have religion, they go to mosque, church and attend traditional festivals. 17 Likes |

MelesZenawi: Oga, how many times will we tell you that, Yorubas are thinkers, we don't all think in the same way, there will be many people that will not think like that and will opt in for another possible solution. The likes of kanu cannot control 1000, Yorubas, that the truth! That Anglican and catholic dominate east doesn't mean they two are the best. Shey Catholics that bow down to Mary or Anglican that faces the pulpit and bow down sometimes. I went to Anglican so I know what I'm saying, tho they're very much preferable than Catholics. And by the way, Yorubas ain't the one that started penticostals. So what exactly are you saying? 10 Likes |

Do you know how many Muslims in Yorubaland that have Christian spouses, parents, siblings, cousins, uncles, business associates and friends? The Yorubas are tolerant because the Yoruba worldviews promote heterogeneity over homogeneity. Yorubas believe in diversifications of views. Tranquillity360: 10 Likes |

MelesZenawi: Your orthodox pastor/rev/bishop too dey deceive you but you think say you sharp. Do you pay tithes and offering, if yes, then congratulations you’ve been hustled. Christianity also is peganism, no different from Sango worship, it’s just the Roman/Euro version of it, that’s all. Islam is no better either but it’s good that Islam only recognises one God, unlike Christianity which recognises 3 gods lol haha Where Islam goes wrong is it’s practice of Jihad and religious killings, what’s the difference btw Jihad and making human sacrifices? 6 Likes |

As a matter of fact, most Yorubas (whether they go to church or mosques) haven't discarded their Traditional beliefs. They just modified them. It took me many years to fully understand this concept. 5 Likes |

Pentecostal Christianity and fanatic Islam has become a threat to such tolerance. I'm a Christian, I have an uncle who converted to a Muslim out of freewill. Every year we travel to celebrate Ileya with him. Until we change to a Pentecostal church whose pastor started saying all sort about the feast, which my mum believe and had to stop us from the annual visit. 4 Likes |

Yoruba's are theist, the psychological hold the traditional believe had on them is greater than what 70 years of colonisation could erode. That belief has helped the yoruba's to associate with people that has different beliefs. |

True, we used to be very tolerant towards religion because its in our DNA, but some Yoruba people of today are becoming strange. I have to firstly, complain about today's christians, most especially, the so called pentecostals. There religious doctrines are more or less like the islamic extremists. I could remember growing up in the late 70s abd early 80s in lagos, surulere to be precised, all religous festivities were celebrated by all irrespective of your religion. Our parents bought cloths for us to celebrate with our friends. I for one was born into a christian family, both parents, my maternal side are muslims while my paternals are majorly christian those in both there are some who are of different religions. We all celebrated together. But what do we have today, the christians, who were the most tolerant then are the worse today. I still remember the way we always wait yo taste the foods brought to our house during salah and taste the delicious ram(meeen, that meat is sweeeeet). Then, we don't throw away any food because of fear of being poisoned or because of some religious beliefs but what do you have today. Some pastors openly preaching that you should not eat ram meat on salah days or you should not mix with 'uneven yoke'. Meanwhile, marrying a muslim woman has always been a problem(especially in places like ilorin), though in lagos it was really that serious because of the 'civilization'. By and large, the religious tolerant has really helped us as a people and I will wish this generation will open their eyes and not allow fundamentalist or extremists who preach what fovurs or boost their ego allow some foreign religions to bring our culture to ruins. 8 Likes |
i
finally there is no religious tolerance over there. it is a just media and paper sophisticated tolerance....You failed to see the clear picture, in yoruba land, blood is thicker than water, family come's first, irrespective of your religion and beliefs, humanity comes first. The yoruba's will always respect your view but will never change from his/her way. The yoruba's will never force a religion on you, we always belief in IPIN, KADARA ati AYANMO 9 Likes |

MelesZenawi: All churches commercialise and monetise Christianity, sit down there and continue to be mumu while your religious leaders are busy laughing to the bank, buying private jets. This goes on worldwide and not exclusive to Nigeria. 1 Like |
