DAVIDMOE:

Probably cos the demand & application for Post-Graduate Program (PGD/PGC, M.SC, PH.D) in Canada is high smiley

As regards Undergraduate/First Degree,
Each university in Canada has its own policy regarding admission requirements. The admission requirements will usually be available on the educational institution’s website, or the university will have to be contacted directly for the admission requirements of the program you are interested in.

However, as a general rule, Nigerian undergraduate students wanting to study in Canada are expected to have a WAEC or NECO result with at least five/six credits including English and Mathematics.

First and foremost, you need to secure Admission into any of the Canada's DLI (Designated Learning Institute).

Visit the link below for schools offering Bachelor's in Psychology, google them one by one and check their respective websites for information in their intakes, requirements etc.

https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Psychology&program_level_merged=Bachelor%27s%2FFirst+professional+degree&program_language=ENGLISH

Once that is done, gather the required documents, fill out the forms and proceed for the visa application

Your Sponsor will be solely responsible for your tuition and upkeep throughout the 4 years duration of your study & stay in Canada

There is nothing easy about admission (Engineering, I.T. etc.), its about if you are doing the right thing to get an admission into a Canadian University and if there is a Progression (I.e the subjects in ur High School Transcript "WAEC/NECO" is related to the Psychology Undergraduate u are going for in Canada). If am right u should be an ART Student

Another factor to consider is ur Age, Age Bracket for Undergraduate Admission in Canada is between 17-22 (not too sure on this)

Do await more info from those who have gotten Undergraduate Admission into Canada

All da best!

Please house, I'd appreciate some explanations on this subject. Severally, I've heard people emphasize that Canadian Universities only accept 2.1 for Masters programme, while on the other hand, some 2.2 CGPA( say 3.41/5 up to .49) end up getting 3.0/4.0 or above after WES evaluation which is the minimum acceptable CGPA for most Universities. Do these Universities grant admission with evaluated result or our naija result?

I asked this cos my brother's CGPA which was initially 2.96/5 came out 2.98/4 after evaluation, and he's currently running his Masters in the US. I think i should be able to run a master's programme with CGPA of 3.46/5 after WES evaluation. Please someone should throw more light on this before I make the wrong decision.

U are welcome @Nomsy33

If u are a NIGERIAN, u don't need an English Test to apply for a Grad.DIPLOMA in Canada, NIGERIA is an English Speaking Country & ur medium of instruction from the University/Polytechnic is English etc. .

IELTS (English Test) for admission in Canada are meant for countries whose language or official language is not ENGLISH e.g India, China, Philippine , Vietnam etc.

It is when you want to apply for PERMANENT RESIDENCY (PR) ,that's when u would need to do a compulsory ENGLISH TEST (IELTS)

So go ahead and apply for the Grad. Diploma , just make sure the program u are applying for aligns/relate to ur English & Literary Studies
or
aligns/relate to ur Work Experience (most esp. If the job u are doing is not related to the course u studied) so u can show career progression
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by YemmyPOG: 10:40pm On Jul 18, 2020
That should be 1190.4 x 10 = $11900.40 for 30 credit course.
I don't know what the term "auditing course" mean though.

hapila:
Thank you @ Yemmy for your response for example 30 credits hours course will be how much now?

Well I can't recommend a school for u, u will need to do a research (google) on the following schools and programs, so u can come into conclusion to the schools that suits u or u settle for a program ur CGPA can accommodate

Though with this CGPA, u shouldn't have problem applying for a Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in a College and gaining admission
But
am not too sure about this CPGA for a PGD in Universities with ur grade cos many of them require a 3.0 CGPA to apply, but ur research on the schools will clarify that

The following schools are;

Humber College, Ontario

PGC in Creative Book Publishing

PGC in Creative Writing - Comic Scriptwriting

PGC in Creative Writing - Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry

PGC in School of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)

- Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language
@
McGill University, Quebec

-Master's Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL)
@
University of Regina, Saskatchewan

-Graduate Diploma in Language & Literacy Education
@
York University, Ontario

-Graduate Diploma in Translation
@
McGill University, Quebec

You and I know the message behind that your question, but it's fine. We move forward.

For the records, I've been reading up since the past few weeks and was about applying for PGD/PGC in some canadian colleges, but fortunately/unfortunately the discussion I had with my brother this night changed the whole arrangement. He's of the opinion that being the same organisation(WES), though in different countries, i should be able to get 3.0/4 and above with my G.P which qualifies me for Masters programme. By the way, I've also read in other threads that WES evaluation tends to take G.P higher, their standard is expected to be the same all over the world regardless of school procedures. I just want to be clarified on whether school judges one with their CGPA before WES evaluation or after the evaluation, that's all biko.

If this was how you answered your university exam questions, certainly you wouldn't be where you are today. Rather than investing the same energy in providing answers, you chose to make mockery of the situation. Keep it up Mr know it all. Like I Said earlier, may you also be treated same way in your time of need, EOD!

In fact see what you should do ... Pay 40k for wes evaluation, den use it and apply for masters admission with $100cad. Finally you sit and wait for like 4-5months to find out if you will be issued the admission with the wes calculation.

Good luck..

Hello,

Many thanks for your suggestion.

So I noticed the following grounds where one can raise a CSE:

You have submitted an application at a visa office abroad.
The information you seek is not available on E-cas.
Your application has exceeded normal processing times. We will not respond to your enquiry if the application is within normal processing times. Information on processing times.
You wish to report important changes regarding your application, such as births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, changes in address, changes in employment, acquisition of a new educational credential, results of an approved language test.

Uploading these documents do not particularly fit under one of the grounds. Can I upload all the same without it counting against me in my application? Cos I have read in previous posts that those Nairobi people can be vindictive.

You can upload your hubby's proof of business registration certificate via webform if you didn't include one in your application. It doesn't affect your application negatively either it will help present your case in a better way of not been rejected based on insufficient documents.

I hope this information helps.

It will end in praise

Is the WES course by course ICAP evaluation a requirement by your university of interest? If no, then you submitting it won't matter in your application. Admission requirements for US and Canadian schools are very different, I applied to University of Regina with my WES 3.4/4.0 GPA and was rejected, mind you WES was and still is among their requirements.
If the school you want is requesting for a WES evaluated Transcript and your WES Transcript is within their cutoff, mostly 3.0/4.0, go ahead and apply. But if they are not, and you apply with the WES Transcript hoping to get an advantage, you just wasted your money.

This is based on my personal experience and I might be wrong.

Goodluck.

Good evening nairalanders, please I have a little concern.
I got accepted in Conestoga college for a postgraduate nursing programme for this fall and I am to resume on the 8th of September.
But due to my inability to completely find all the necessary documents for the visa application and the short time frame when I eventually had them which was first week of July.
I opted to apply for a defferal to the winter session 2021.
Now the thing is I have sent them a mail since July 7 and till date I have not gotten a feedback yet from them and mind you I have already paid part school fees.
I am getting a bit worked up, hope I don't lose on both ends cause now I didn't submit my application again.
Please I would be utterly grateful, if I get a response on this.
Is this how Conestoga does
Thanks

Please can a person that requires a co-op work permit apply to start class online.
And the mode of delivery for this fall is hybrid which is both remote and in person

Lol@ new moniker, you want to bully my moniker because to you, am new here? People like you are the reason Nigeria is the way it is today, shame on you!

For the records again, I've been a registered member of this Forum since 2008 contributing to the growth of some threads here within my capacity. The contractor that handled our building project 4 years ago was gotten through NL, I personally contacted him and he did an excellent job. My children were born in the US through the loaded information we shared in this forum. Finally, my brother is currently running his Masters abroad, courtesy of NL information. What can you deduce from the above? I am not your mate here!!! You're not even up to a year here and you're already feeling on top of the world, simply because you're privilleged to know more than some people at the moment. Pride goes before a fall dear, be mindful of the way you address people regardless of their status and how you see them. I chose this moniker for privacy sake, hope you can now rest?

PS: I am not a bro.

God bless you so much for this explanation, It's enough for me and am grateful. Truth is, the response I got the first time I enquired about the possibility of getting admission with my G.P, automatically zeroed my mind on Universities, hence I started reading up on colleges that offer my course, and was considering Conestoga before my brother came up with that idea. All I needed was an assurance that am on the right track, only for that guy to show up with his mockery-infested-ITK attitude. Whatever that means undecided
