A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend the burial of late Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile until the conclusion of investigations into the circumstances that led to her death.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) had announced Saturday that the late Arotile, Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, who died on July 14, will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on July 23.

It also said Arotile, who was 24 years until her death, was knocked down by her former schoolmate who was excited to see her at the NAF Base in Kaduna.

But Adegboruwa, a human rights lawyer in a statement on Sunday, said there is no point in rushing her burial until a proper investigation is concluded so that Nigerians can know the truth about how she died.

The statement reads: “The sudden death of Tolulope Arotile has caused a national mourning in this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is tragic, painful and gruesome. The inconsistent stories emerging from the Nigerian Air Force has not helped to douse the suspicions.

“The least we expect is a proper investigation, followed with a Coroner’s Inquest, including an independent autopsy report.

“There is no point in rushing to bury her in the light emerging revelations.

“These are the questions:

Who drove the car?
Where did the accident happen?
Where was Arotile going to?
A reversing car means it had passed her, so was she trekking?
Was she blindfolded not to see the reversing car to escape?
Were her legs tied?
What kind of medical treatment did she receive?
In which hospital was she treated?
Who called her out from her rest after a successful air combat on bandits?
Why are there inconsistent statements from the Nigerian Air Force, being released in bits and pieces?
“Many more questions indeed. .I urge the President to direct a full investigation into her death, to suspend the burial plans until the conclusion of the investigations.”

Like he's talking to someone who has a half-grain of sense left inside their head.

That poor girl was assassinated by Boko Haram for conducting such devastating air strikes against them.

The way and ease of Tolulope Arotile's assassination should give right-thinking Nigerians an inkling of the nature of the insurgency in the northeast, of how deeply embedded inside the Nigerian government and armed forces high command are the tentacles of Boko Haram/ISWAP, and of the reason why this war against terror will never be won by the current administration.

So many government officials are illegally (treasonably) profiting from this war, an equally high if not higher number of them along with northern leaders of opinion/religious thought are sympathetic with the ideological bent of extremist Islam.

she's an asset and a special soldier, she shouldn't just die like a chicken and quickly be swept away

under normal circumstances this is a federal case for SSS & DI

I really don't think it's a clear case of accident, most likely murder but investigation may be classified cos it might be obvious it's linked to her been instrumental to the North operations

rogue elements would have taken advantage of her been hospitalized and introduce lethal options into her treatment and hinge it on the hapless classmate, who by now will be under lots of threat and anguish that a simple knowdown could av resulted to his friends demise

obvious from the narratives of the millitary authorities .... they have flooded the media space with pinning her death on the classmate, something an independent coroner inquest could upturn

the millitary seem biased and compromised in quick steps and conclusion on this matter.

And considering her poor parents status, who couldn't afford some private diggings, this matter is handled shoddily and done

another option is to involve foreign aid, through discreet means, some clandestine ops could delve in but it's all a matter of connection and money.

Nonetheless I think this case could shed light on the dark secrets behind failures in the fight against insurgencies and rogue elements in the armed forces.

Tolulope will be buried on the 23rd as scheduled and Buhari won't order any investigation into anything. Nigerian military is securely now in the hands of the fulanis and this one of the reasons
why Mr Buhari was so desperate to rule Nigeria again. He has achieved that objective and to some extents, he has secured Nigeria for his ethnic fulanis.

Any Southerner that is still serving in the Nigeria Military as presently constituted,such a fellow is only walking in the valley of the shadow of death!

If we EVER HAD/HAVE a president.

Presently, we only have an empty presidential office at Abuja. The whole story of a reversing car heating her from behind that made such an impact that will kill her on the spot is not adding up. At what speed will a reversing car be that would have such an impact that would kill her is what I cannot figure out. Was she standing on the middle of the road or after the said car that passed her, started reversing, then, she left the walk/padestran area and jumped on a reversing car? The said driver who killed her, why did he/she not blast the horn of the car to draw her attention?

The truth has not been said.

Be also informed that Yorubas are spread all over the geopolitical areas of Nigeria. They were unfortunately cut out to all the geopolitical areas during the unfavourable division at the time the military coupists were ruling.

The Six Yoruba states aren't the only area inhabited by Yorubas. The noninclusive Yoruba states are Kwara, Kogi, .....some Yoruba communities are also cut off such as Yorubas in Delta State, Edo State....

Yorubas have branches in the north, East and South unlike other ethnic groups....

Justice must be done in the killing of Arotile.....no shoddy burial please....

May God rest her soul.....cut in her prime...... I really feel for her family.......read on LindaIkeji the classmate doesn't have a driver's licence.......probably a learner.......So many unanswered questions .......they should pls investigate......that will help her family heal.
