That weapon looks less heavy when compared to ak47 and looks easier to handle. You know when going to war, weight matters alot for your comfort and not to be distracted .
carries more ammo too

Since 2015 they’ve approved this... but men are still carrying aks
That’s the former DG of DICON and this is 5 years after... na AK47 still be standard issue..
Honestly those AKs our soldiers are carrying are eyesore, and they don't even look intimidating at all. Our Soldiers are using rusty Aks. Bokos, ISWAP, Bandits, Armed robbers, Cultist, Area boys are also using the same thing. Forget about the durability or ruggedity of the rifle, this is not what the Army of a big country like Nigeria supposed to be using.

Seconded.
I really never liked this awkward ak to start with, I heard it comes with only 30 rounds per magazine.
Another thing is that our soldiers to be retrained time from time cos you'll see a soldier mounting roadblock and can be in this road block posting for years and in those years never shot his gun or saw any fire fight, wouldn't them must have forgotten how to aim and shoot accurately.
Am of the opinion that in every 6 months depending on your corp to always go for retraining.

How I wish all necessary weapons and armour are made available some of this death would have been avoidable.. I watched the movie Outpost, u need to see the Mrap used by good Army

Bullet can hardly penetrate them, most soldiers took cover with them.. Makes me wonder maybe the movie was over exaggerated.. Cause the last attack, the Mrap looks pretty damaged..

And again no air support as usual, after exhausting bullets na to run, each magazine carried 60rounds, and they give u one extra making 120rounds per person. How will they engage enemies for hours with that without air support? If I want to die for my country lemme die honourable not stupidly

Let the battle be fair, no give me kpako sagamu go fight superior weapon

I don't know if I would ever make it into the army but if I do, I hope to give my best.
Having followed the happenings over the past years, from losing two cousins (a Colonel & a Lt Colonel), to seeing how soldiers and insurgents execute their captives, to seeing how our soldiers were shown on France 24 fleeing for their dare life's after been overpowered by the insurgents some four or five years ago.
I have come to realise we need snipers and am hoping and planning of being the most successful one if destiny prevails.
All the best to everyone, I wish we could all be commissioned this year.
Remember, he who runs lives to fight another day. Sometimes running (officially known as tactical withdrawal) is the best option. It happens everywhere and some successful war veterans have applied the approach. Even insurgents withdraw to regroup, restrategize and ultimately launch an offensive.
Finally, for those who will make it, if you want to live to tell the stories of sambisa, think like an insurgent and act like one in the theatre of war. If they give us guerrilla tactics we give em back the guerrilla style because sometimes what we would learn at jaji and Kaduna no go add up for North East and West.
Victory is from God alone.
And in him we put all our trust.

I have a friend that I'll call a brother. RC and SBS, if u hear the story the baba they talk. Baba dust that yarn that navy don't see frontline o.
If go no war, you'll drop ur Tavor and carry AK with kpako dey shoot those bastards.
The narrative is same with Airforce. Only good thing about Navy and Airforce is that they have better welfare for their officers. But last last, if ure drated to NE and ure in AFSF, your chances of survival is the same with Army guys o.

Actually, each magazine has 30 rounds. Most times they are being issued 2 Magazines for any kind of outing be it escort duties or road block and for a high security outing, the magazine number is increased to 3 or more I think. But know that anywhere they are posted or taken to, there will be an Armourer who would be in charge of arms and ammunition and would issues them as deem fit and I believe they have their Mode of operation when under heavy fire, there are always provision for that. what's the essence of taking over 6 magazine with you when you are not going alone or not wearing a combat jacket that can house them.

It should be under Infantry Corps. But I believe members of other Corps are allowed to take this course if they are recommended by their unit, especially when they display good marksmanship in the range, or normal weapons training.

Lol. Not easy to survive one oh, although dere dis lieutenant dat gave testimony in Church how RPG was fired on his vehicle from nearby Bushes n nothing happened to him.

Imagine being inside dis their Hilux combat vehicle, n d vehicle tyres hit a landmine n set d vehicle in explosion. Immediately after d vehicle exploded, bullets from bandits lying in nearby Bushes came hitting on d remaining survivals, do u think u would have a chance to escape?

People do escape sha, bur na luck. One of my friends brodas went MIA during on of their patrols. Man was missing for 3 days, prayers for house no be here guy. Him mumcy bin dey so sorrowful wen she heard d news. After serving in d NE for 3 years, he was posted to out.
It was in synagogue church of nations that the guy gave the testimony, I watched it.
It means the mrap especially that Nigerian brand is fake because i do see how it gets burnt and damages after taking some hits, that thing is meant to protect troops in this course .

I don't think so, the sniper rifle is not a very mobile weapon.. It's more like a long distance kind kg of weapon. Which infantry soldier will want to be carrying such around?

I think there are special people trained for that kind of weapon.

There is nothing like fake Mrap, the type of IED that are laid differs in there destructive capabilities. The materials used in making such bombs differs there are IEDs that can takeout a 10 tonne vehicle even an Armoured tank. I have seen a T-72 battle tank that was destroyed by IED back in 2014.
MRAPs are deployed to give a level of protection to troops and a chance at survival unlike light skin vehicles. That you're moving in an Mrap it doesn't guarantee that you can't lose your life or a a body part neither does it make the said MRAP fake. Every machine/equipment/material has a certain tolerance level, if the pressure created by an explosion exceeds the threshold of what the material can contain then definitely it will breakdown.

What I mean sir is that the course to become a sniper is an Infantry Corps course. Just as we have different Trade courses in EME, ST corps etc. Even the Amphibious course is an Infantry course.

Like if you want to be a military driver of different classes of vehicles, you must go through the driving Course at the school of ST in Benin anyone from any Corps can do the course to become a military driver, but it will be handled by ST.

Even the so called Special Forces training are also under Infantry too

Can't other combat corps go for the training like the artillery or armour?
