I had similar experience in 2015. I was asked to pay#100000 get a job as a contract staff in an oil company. I was discouraged by almost everybody because I was asking them to lend me money. Even my closet lecturer back then in school discouraged me. Thank God for two of my brothers who raised 50k each 4 me. Today I'm a happy man because I'm very comfortable. To God b d glory

Sometime around march ending, about 3 marketers called to say they needed a 100 thousand litres of diesel between them at the rate of 150 naira. I headed to the creek in excitement struggling to meet up the demand in time, only to hear of lockdown after i have cook just 5 thousand litres. The thing pain me eh. Finally, God did it.

I lost a big job opportunity (Federal government job) February this year as a result of mistrust. I was told to bring 300k to buy the job slot even though I had the money I was suspicious I was going to be duped, but then I informed my friend who jumped at the offer, paid the money and to my almost surprise was actually called for training.

Funny and foolish of me right? Add yours.

Some few yrs ago, I paid for my sister and got the employment letter in a week. Ii can't count friends who got this job and each paid 350k.

Another time we paid through same guy but it never happened.

There was a slot advertised to me for 1.5m last year, the guy who paid got it and earns over 250k at the moment.

It does work but there are crooks.

Going by your story and speaking on experience of two close pals of mine. That one is called for training doesn't guarantee one gets the job

It could still be a scam. Have seen it

Yet, we are quick to abuse those in government. I would say be glad you did not pay however, your post is an opposite because you actually support payment to secure a government job.

I don't know why this made the front page.

That's what I was thinking as well. where is the mortality?
That's how my former boss was blaming Buhari, few months later he was sacked for stealing company properties.
I don't blame Nigerian leadership, I blame the individual country men

If you hadn't held back because of being scammed you actually saw/had no problem of buying the slot; in other words using connections/cutting corners.

Nigeria has now rotten that there is no remedy i think the same Government job that my dad said he applied for back then and he was interviewed immediately and after that they told him to come and collect his letter in the next 2 weeks.
Just imagine, I don't think with the way this country is going there is hope for the next generations

Nigeria/Africa will never be better as long as we are rationalising connections, cutting corners & paying for slots as being divine intervention when they are purely forms of corruption. Same way this is rationalized & accepted by society, so also will cyber-fraud be accepted in the not too distant future.

Well OP I commend you for being true & not hypocritical. cool
God Bless.

It usually work for some, while for others it doesn't but it's all depends on many factors as well as how lucky you are as an individual. Before now, I used to think its all one big package scam till I was proven wrong. To the extend if anyone ask me for money now for any job slot now, I might rush and pay.

There is nothing foolish about being careful. I have a friend who has lost over 1m to this crap. You never know what evil may befall you ahead. I know of someobe too who paid, got the job and it wasnt until afyer 6 months did he start recieving his salary.
