Even if you like the brand, the best thing is to wait till they release another one. The one they have now is the one they used to test the water.

For Netflix, he should use Godzilla king of monsters, Joker {2020) or Avengers Endgame to test it. Those got 4K options irrespective of region.

For YouTube own, let him select 4K in the filter option when searching for videos to watch, especially gaming ones. Once he's done search again with the 4k filter, choose several videos. Pause and check the quality of the video to see the max it can play at.
Adding this in case he starts saying he doesn't know how to check or doesn't apply them search filters. Cheers.
