Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ghana

According to the UNCTAD's World Investment Report 2020, FDI flows in Ghana decreased from 3 million to USD 2,3 million between 2018 and 2019. The FDI stock reached USD 38,5 million in 2019. Mining and oil exploration are the main sectors that attract most of the FDI . The country hosts annual summits (Ghana Investment Summit) to position itself as hub in West Africa for foreign investors. China has the highest number of investment projects registered with Ghanaian institutions, followed by India, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Turkey, Mauritania and France.

Top performer based on what. We are attracting top talent from silicon valley with top dollar because we are making it very easy to do business. Last year were were no 56 world wide. This year we should be top 50.

Those guys would have gone anywhere including Ghana - but like most of large multinational - they are choosing Kenya.

In that regard Nairobi is competing with Joburg.
