Blackking98: It might take a long time to change that mentality but I believe it will change one day.we all know the truth. The similarity with Igbos is just too close almost 80%my question for my rivers brothers is simple though I don't support break up of Nigeria unlike the southeast igbos but if it eventually happens who will the rivers igboid people go with, the Igbos or the ijaws and ibibio to become minorities in the Niger delta ![]() 5 Likes |

[[s]quote author=Oghene1st post=91972511] Don't be a fool. There are three senatorial districts n Delta. Delta Central is purely for Urhobos, Delta North for the Igbo groups and Delta South for Ijaw (majority), Isoko, Itsekiri and Urhobo. The Deputy Senate President is from Delta Central. The population of Urhobos in Delta Central alone is 1.5m+ which is higher than the whole of Igbo groups in Delta North. If we are to include the Urhobos in Delta South, then .....[/quote][/s] Mister man in your Delta central we still have itsekiri and okpe kingdom people there or are you including okpe kingdom as Urhobo? Mr man Urhobo are not the majority in Delta state, they can only be majority when you count enuani, ika and ukwuani people differently but if you count them together they're the majority. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

I am Igbo from Anambra. I only got to know that there are tribes called Etche, Ikwerre and Ekpeye because I am schooling in Uniport. Here in Onitsha nobody knows what is Ikwerre or Etche. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Blackking98: You cannot expect a group of people who have changed their names from Umu to Rumu or Oma to easily accept to be Igbo. There was a post by selemempe on the eastern regional parliamentary secretaries in 1961. I saw one entry: J. O. Umolu [Igbo: Ikwerre]. In today's Ikwerre, the entry would have beeen J. O. Rumuolu or J. O. Omaolu. What a shame. 9 Likes 1 Share |

IkwerrePikin:The OP you quoted is Ipob from one of the five gully erosion ravaged states. He is not a Rivers man talk more of the ethnic group he claims. A frequent visitor to Nairaland should be able to discern their modus operandi by now. Their lifelong ambition has always been to steal the land and oil of Ikwere and other Rivers tribes which made 3 million of their ancestors perish as a result of their greed. 5 Likes |

Blackking98: Has there being any time in the silly history of Nigeria when Efik, Annang, or Oro passed as Ibibio? The problem with Nigerians is the high tendency to give wrong analogy due to pressure from ethnic bias. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Jakemedg:Yes I'm an ibibio boy. I've spent all my life in calabar, I speak Efik more than my native ibibio even though the languages are the same. Why are you splintering the ethnicities into tinier groups. Kalabari u mentioned is just another ijaw tribe. Efik, ibibio and Annang are the different tribes of the same ethnic group although we don't have an umbrella name. And finally when we say Niger Delta republic we refer to ibibio, ijaw, urhobo, bini, etc. Adding Igbo or Yoruba makes it Niger Delta ministry or Niger Delta commission like u have rn. Niger Delta republic we dream of is devoid of Igbo or Yoruba element. Please be guided. 6 Likes 1 Share |

35824L:A day without mentioning irrelevant ipob is a wasted day for you .This is not a Yoruba Vs Igbo thread. It's obvious you know nothing about etches, ikwerres, delta igbos also known as aniomas and other igbo clans so why don't you calm down and research on that using google or historical materials instead of displaying your ignorance here . 8 Likes |

Blackking98: I know it will not take long time for your true color to show up on this discuss. Only a fool will think the term Niger Delta is an exclusive domain of certain ethnicities in the shithole called Nigeria. Even certain goons who claim Niger Delta have little or nothing in relationship with the river. 5 Likes |

OfoIgbo:No one is forcing anyone to be Igbo. You don't choose your ethnic origin. You can choose what group you identify with though. Today, the opportunities that come with identifying as Igbo is so enormous that any Igbo clan that does otherwise will be suffocating itself. The few Ikwerres that have left Rivers state will easily see this just like Amaechi. Even outside Nigeria, all these Igbo clans easily blend in and make things easier for themselves. Only local folks domiciled entirely in Rivers still revel in those post Biafran war tales of survival. Igbos have risen to success all over the world through sheer hardwork and the grace of God. It's obvious and audible to all. Therefore, our saying that Ikwerres are Igbos isn't borne out of anything apart from ancestry and language. For God sake, what do I gain from claiming Ikwerres are Igbos? Nothing. It doesn't put food on my table nor open doors for me. Why didn't I claim the same for Ogonis and Andonis? Simply because they're not Igbos. The Kalabaris despite the level of intermarriage are still not called Igbos because they're not. 14 Likes 1 Share |
