Apparently, it’s a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle). Built to look different from a typical sedan but uses the same unibody structure. Also less powerful than typical SUVs.

In my opinion changing from a 2008 MDX to a 2010 Venza is actually a downgrade. Changing to 2010 RX350 isn't much of an upgrade either.
The Venza is not an SUV, it is just a station wagon of the Camry which comes nowhere near the MDX. The RX is more reliable and you can bet on it to basically run forever with proper maintenance. Which makes it very very expensive and high resale value on the other hand.
My verdict is if you cant upgrade to something like 2014 RX or the MDX do not upgrade from a 2008 MDX to any 2010 Toyota (both the RX and the Venza are Toyota).
But if you must choose between the two choose the RX, but your pocket too go tell you the difference.

Forget about driving a dream car in the absence of efficient maintenance outfit. I had tried that in Nigeria once... I personally shipped in the car. Within a few short years, I had to park it in after it's been messed up. One, Nigerian mechanics did not even understand the kind of car it was, so much that the tiniest repair needed I had to ship parts in from Europe. After about two years doing that I decided to buy a Toyota product that everyone around understood. V6 too though.

Using a car in Nigeria is not by dreaming, unless that dream factors in maintenance and other practical aspects. And I have driven just too many cars to come to that conclusion. I think it's mostly people who haven't used enough number of cars that fixate on dream cars. For me, V6 minimum engine, leather upholstery, high horsepower and (if in Nigeria) very strong wheels and suspension system. I don't naturally care about fuel consumption since you can't always fidget about spending too much on fuel if you drive V6... That's about all I dream about with respect to cars. I use them to accomplish my other dreams and visions, cars are never my dream.

Thanks for the clarification. So the much needed upgrade would only be achieved if he buys something like a 2017 RX.
Some of my colleagues were disappointed when I told them I bought a 2006 Acura TSX last year. They said the model was too old. But they were shocked when I showed them it has more features than even a 2013 Corolla.

Very sturdy and reliable car. you wont regret it for sure.

The two are good but Lexus RX 350 is better with so many aesthetic and classic features. I will advise that you get at least Lexus RX 350 2011 model. The reason was that "Consumer protection" in the USA reported an issue with the dashboard for the year 2008-2010. I read about the flaws last year. I dont think lexus recalled any of the model maybe just because the issue is non-significant. So they encourage buyers to focus on 2011 upward.
