Money that will still be looted by our agbada wearing corrupt politicians. This will surely make nigeria's greedy landlords to increase their rents instead of adding only the firs 6%. |

igboamakaaa: Dont take my post "personal", l just used your own post "as a Reference" to generalise such thinking and l am sure you know exactly what l am saying in my post. I did not say ANYTHING about your Personal circumstances, financially or otherwise, whether you paid everyone on Nairaland or not (and l could not have done so since l dont know you "personally" and cant even verify all those your 'online claims' ). We are here on Nairaland when people, most;y from the S/East said all sorts of things about Omoyele Sowore, just because he is a Yoruba Man. His idea that Nigeria needs a #RevolutionNow, that was trashed back then, is the same idea that everyone is now requesting for, so the question that arise is: WHY WAS HE BEING TRASHED BACK THEM and why were the People of the South East saying locking him up indefinitely, was a positive thing, that he deserved it and all sorts of nonsense? How has that tribalistic approach helped we Nigerians? Dont try to rewrite History, the internet never forgets!, the records are stll littered al over Nairaland and other Social Media and if you push it too far, l can easily pull up a few of such posts for you, just here on Nairaland. And l bet you to show me the post where the SW people snitched on him, as you wrongly claim. You guys will be doing what is Evil, you know it is Evil but afterwards, you dont want to be associated with that Evil that you did! Why not just refuse to do Evil, so that you wont be associated with Evil? When we x-ray the problem of this country, properly and honestly, it will dawn on all of us that it is not a "Geographical Problem" but a "Human Problem" and people like me dont understand why the Igbos ALWAYS reduce the problem of Nigeria to "Let Biafra Go". I am not against Biafra going but l can say with confidence that it does not solve the problem we see among Igbos in Alaigbo nor anywhere in Nigeria, Problems which will also raise their ugly head in that Biafra. I agree that Nigeria is not properly governed and it is even worse, under the current Jihadist in Aso Rock but 96% of Nigeria's problems are caused by Nigerians, these Problems are in every Local Govt Area of Nigeria and among every Nigeria, from the North to the East to the West and South South. Just look at the sheer evil going on in NDDC right now? Can we blame restructuring or "Let Biafra go" for that? Can we blame Northerners for that? Can we blame Buhari for that? If we say let the South South be a separate country today, is it not the Akpabios, the Daniel Pondei, Cairo Ojugo, the Joi Nunnehs of this world that will be Rulling the place? Will the looting and under-development had stopped? What about the South East, is it not the same Rogues representing you at the National Assembly, as Governors, as LGA Chairmen, etc, the same Rogues in the Public Service, that would be governing the place? Ditto for all other regiosn of the country and that is why l said, "Geaographical Expression called Nigeria" is not our major problem, if it is at all but it is THE PEOPLE, (Nigerians) that are creating the problems for us. Granted, the terrorists "foreign" Fulani Herdsmen, especially under this Buhari, has become a very unsustainable Parasite and a danger to life in Southern Nigeria. But that is just one of the many problems. Having the right people in Power, is the first step and this cannot be achieved without a Revolution, reason being that the leeches are from every tribe and every location in Nigeria. If we can get rid of the leeches in power, it wil be a starting point to a sustainable Regionalism that will solve our problem and yields required results. But just asking for Balkanisation of Nigeria at every opportunit and problem, makes it look like an unreasoned fixation borne out of lack of understanding of the real issues at stake. The earlier that we all realise that using tribalism and the barometer for our thinking and decision making will not help us, the better and faster we can all sit down together and chase away dem Babylonians making life diffuclt for everyone, including those who think they live in Banana Island. May God help us. |

Yeah right! Nigerians will never fight back. That’s why your leaders treat y’all like animals. What’s happening in Nigeria would never happen in any other country on the planet without the masses rising up to drive the leaders out of power. I have said this several times before, and I will keep saying it, Nigerians are the most docile people on the planet. Compared to Nigeria, Egypt was a paradise but the masses rose up and drove Mubarak out of power. Same with Libya. O pari tamdun: |

I hope that they continue finding new ways of taxing us. Why? Firstly, so that those who always retort that those leaving to better countries pay a lot in tax will realize why people would decide to do that. At the end of the day, they see the benefit of the taxes in infrastructure, healthcare systems, security, insurance and all the tenets of a functioning society. When we start paying comparable taxes and still do not have the basics like good roads and stable electricity, I hope those people start using the little intelligence they have to realize the folly of their words. Secondly, the average Nigerian is corrupt and narcissistic. We only think about enriching ourselves and are willing to go to any length to protect what we cherish. When corrupt politicians steal the nation's wealth we don't react not because we can't but because we feel it does not affect us personally in any way. The nation is a vague, transient and nebulous concept in our mind which seems far away. Such direct taxes that are visible and clear to see will erode our laid back attitudes and make us pay more attention to the policies politicians propose and eventually hold them accountable to their promises. I recently read about the French revolution (la guillotine baby) and the resonant effect it had on other nations (itself being an effect of the American revolution). Baby steps but we will get there eventually. |
