A lady, Seyitan Babatayo, who accused musician, Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj, of rape has written a letter to the police withdrawing her petition.

This happened just as the police said it has been unable to establish a case of rape against the musician,

In a letter dated July 17, 2020 addressed to the Inspector-General of Police through her lawyer, Olamide Omileye, she said she was withdrawing from the case for personal reasons.

The letter read in part, “We hereby officially notify you of our client’s intention to withdraw and discontinue her petition against Mr. Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’Banj for personal reasons. Our client further humbly applies that the investigation and all other action that is currently being carried out by the police with respect to the statement.”

In his response to the letter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Umar Sanda, said investigation had discontinued due to lack of evidence.

The letter posted on Twitter by blogger, Kemi Olunloyo, read in part, “In view of the foregoing facts, investigation was discontinued as no substantial evidence to prove the allegation of rape against the suspect.”

Human rights group, Stand To End Rape Initiative popularly known as STER, said Seyitan decided to end the case without receiving any monetary compensation.

STER, which was actively in support of Seyitan’s quest for justice, thanked everyone.

The statement read in part, “On July 13, 2020, Ms. Babatayo informed STER that a private non-monetary agreement was reached with D’Banj’s team. We, therefore, present this statement as the full account of our stewardship on this matter.”

Seyitan had accused D’Banj of raping her at Glee Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos in December 2018, an allegation he has denied several times.

D’Banj had sued Seyitan for N1.5bn over the allegation, adding that it had caused him untold embarrassment and psychological trauma.

If a woman accused you of rape, hold yourself together and use every legal and media tool to clear your name. Suicide is NEVER an option lest false rape accusation become a new assasination tool.

By the way, it is inhuman to rape a woman even if she is naive just as it is inhuman to falsely accuse a man of rape.

She withdrew her accusation and petition.

The loudest silence here is the absence of an apology from her to D’banj on the very same social media where he was accused.

STER had no obligation to reveal that she reached a “private non-monetary agreement” with D’banj. They did anyway. It helps to throw dirt on D’banj’s small “win”. They however conveniently forgot to mention that Seyitan was the one who asked for a resolution and did this through Segalink.

Anyway, I particularly like the word “agreement” as opposed to “settlement”.

This chapter is closed.

Dense feminist witches have been wailing on twitter, since the news dropped.

Obviously, D'banj's lawsuit strangled her, as she had
1. No proof
2. No money for lawsuit & fine
3. Been led astray by selfish & senile twitter feminists

The better deal for her, was to settle out of court. Craze woman!

Edit: Seyitan apparently just released her own statement and clearly indicated that she was the one who contacted D'banj's team to settle out of court, with Segalink the facilitator. Craze woman!

I just hope, this issue of rape accusations will not become a trend among ladies to spite guys that jilt or offend them.

It now getting ridiculous and absurd.

Any lady that makes wrong accusations, should be sued for defamation of character.

RAPE is not a thing to joke with.

what court of law exactly are you talking about?! it didnt even get to that and she jejely withdrew her accusations.... THEREFORE if Dbanj is indeed innocent, he will STILL sue her for the ₦1.5B defamation of character. if he does not, then it will simply confirm exactly who paid her to keep quiet.

cool

She's gotten the fame she needed, and followership at the detriment of D'banj's dieing brand which he struggles to use in feeding his family, endorsement deal would be far from him now

I pity next generation men, these women are fast evolving and turning men to prey

*Hotel says she never lodged with them
*D'banj says he doesn't know her
*Police said she lacks any evidence
*Her only evidence is a WhatsApp message screenshot she sent to her own friend

Yet she is free walking about after saying D'banj broke into her locked hotel room to finger her

thats the power of money and it can only happen in naija..
dbanj cant easily pull such stunts even if he is richer than jeff bozz assuming it happened in advanced contries like u.k or u.s..
no amount of money would easily clear that case except he is innocent and that girl would be charged and arrested..
