Biafra is not a bad idea. Following the total failure of the Nigerian state it is inevitable that regions would seek for divorce from these unhealthy relationship. Yet I strongly oppose to a BIAFRAN nation. As a result of these reasons. 1. UNITY: before you seek for a divorce you must have made consensual agreement with your partner in fulfilment to your decision. This is one area igbos have had issues. 90% of igbos living outside igbo land are strongly against the idea of abandoning there investment for a dreamland that might not even come. Theres no ethnic group that is as disunited as the igbo people. An Ebonyi man for instance sees himself as different from an Anambra man. The list goes on. 2 RESOURCE CONTROL : These is one question igbos seem to dulge because deep inside there hearts they see these as a big challenge. The idea of who takes what. If biafra is granted which region would produce leadership. Is easy to call names but igbos would always fight for these. The call for imolites to attain authority over anambra and so on... 3. POPULATION : Igbos have failed to understand that if igbos should return home now. The five eastern state is too small to occupy igbos living outside. Only Christmas alone. Is a pointer of the verse population that is seen. It would be difficult or almost impossible to deal with there demands. Drop your comments I would like to hear your opinion. We currently have All these problems Plus 20,000 more in Nigeria, if getting biafra reduces it to only this four, Then it's a massive progress 28 Likes 3 Shares |

vivilafrosh: Are Nigerians united? Are Igbos,Yorubas and Hausas united? If there is there is no unity in Nigeria, but there is Nigeria, then there is no reason why there cant be Biafra, no matter the level of unity amongst Igbos 2 RESOURCE CONTROL : These is one question igbos seem to dulge because deep inside there hearts they see these as a big challenge. The idea of who takes what. If biafra is granted which region would produce leadership. Is easy to call names but igbos would always fight for these. The call for imolites to attain authority over anambra and so on... In Biafra, there will be full resource control. When people control their resources, the issue of who leads wont be so important [3. POPULATION : Igbos have failed to understand that if igbos should return home now. The five eastern state is too small to occupy igbos living outside. Only Christmas alone. Is a pointer of the verse population that is seen. It would be difficult or almost impossible to deal with there demands. Lagos is by far the smallest state in Nigeria. But Lagos has over 20 million people. If just Lagos can contain more than 20 million people, then just Abia state, which is twice the size of Lagos State, can contain more than 40 million Igbos. 29 Likes 3 Shares |

vivilafrosh:your first paragraph is rubbish. Who told you igbo don't is not United. Who told that 90% of igbo outside igbo land is afraid of losing his property and don't support biafra. Do you think they are happy living in another man's land. Who told you ebonyi man sees himself differently. Mr. Man or what you could yourself I am igbo man from ebonyi state and I live outside igbo land and attend my village meetings in abuja so carry your propaganda out of this place. Any igbo man that don't support biafra is a thief like most Nigerians politicians who is benefiting from Nigeria. To be sincere are you proud of this country 25 Likes 5 Shares |

That is why the Igbos want Niger delta to be part of them so much that Ojukwu forcefully included we Niger deltans to their Biafra. Nnamdi also doing the same thing Ojukwu did. But just like we rejected Biafra, we will continue to reject fraudulent Biafra as we wish the Igbos goodluck in their Biafra struggle. We support and respect their struggle. But the Igbos should know Niger deltans will not gain anything in Biafra! Absolutely nothing. This is the reality. Niger deltans republic is the best thing that can happen to we the Niger deltans. That’s the truth. We have the landmass, we have the access to the sea, we have agricultural, we have mineral resources, not just oil even uranium was discovered in Akwa Ibom, we have the beautiful cities and beaches. Why will a Niger deltan join Biafra were you have igbos become 60% of the said Biafra? They will dominate the Senate, Job opportunities, the markets, and so on!!! Ask yourself how many Niger deltans in Igbo land and how many Igbos in Niger delta?? God bless Niger delta republic. We wish you goodluck in your Biafra 14 Likes |

vivilafrosh: This topic has being overflogged afonja and obsession with BiAfra As for population ; is Lagos not the smallest state in the South west? How come it contains over 22milion people people with just a landmass of just 1200km2 yet it is not even pop ulated enough there are still empty land in badagri, epe and ikorodu. egbema L.G.A in imo alone is bigger than Lagos state (check it out). All the Southeast state are five times bigger than Lagos. Igbos are not united abi? 6 Likes 1 Share |

kingzizzy: This is precisely why a lot of the criticism directed at the leaders in Lagos are unfair. 20 million people in such a small area and some people are still packing their belongings right for the next trip with Ekenedili Chukwu. If you can lead Lagos successfully, leading Nigeria shouldn't be a problem. 2 Likes |

Guestlander: That Lagos is overpopulated and congested is mainly down to the Nigerian political-economy in place since the late 60s to date! It’s a consequence of being greedy, avaricious, clever-by-half, and vindictive! If you want Lagos decongested, support the secession of Ndigbo from your ‘one Nigeria’ then you’d stop seeing Ekene heading to Lagos filled with the ‘hated’ Igbo! Instead, you and your darling Fulani compatriots will keep Lagos all to yourselves....i’m sure you’ll both get on like a house on fire! Remember, the ‘one Nigeria’ you see today is what your parents fought for, so you’re in no position to complain, insofar as the people in those Ekene still remain Nigerians’! 8 Likes 2 Shares |

What really does ikwerri add to Biafra ? Abia is close to the sea than ikwerri , you don't even have the oil ....yet na una shout our oil pass .... When ijaws start dealing with u in the Niger Delta republic like they did in the old rivers , with etche and oyibo plus ndoni with igbos in Biafra ...u would have another obi wali begging igbos for help again 3 Likes 2 Shares |

PROUDIGBO: This is funny and sad at the same time. Ibadan was the happening place for the old western region and I believe Enugu and the other regional capitals served the same purpose for their various regions. Ibadan got a TV station before Lagos and it was the largest city in all of west Africa. Everything changed when the military came, destroyed the regions and concentrated power in Lagos. Abuja today is serving the same purpose. The regions were basically stymied and made subservient to the center up till today. Your story is sad because it was an ibo dictator who set the ball rolling. If only he knew the consequences of his actions on his own people. 11 Likes 1 Share |

IkwerrePikin: There is no country that comes without people agitating for it. It has never happened that a country comes out of nowhere without some people agitating for it. Nobody is agitating for Niger Delta Republic. In 1966, a young Ijaw man called Adaka Boro armed some men and came out to declare a Niger Delta Republic for his Ijaw people. Him and his men were easily captured in less than two weeks because he had no support. To this day, nobody even knows the Ijaw Ijaw territory he was declaring Niger Delta Republic. Whatever the so called Niger Delta people feared about Ojukwu and Biafra, they got 10 times worse in Nigeria. Their oil wealth has been shared by more number of people in Nigeria than Biafra, they remain poor, marginalised and get a paltry 13% derivation. I actually hope that the many tribes of the Niger Delta can come together and agitate for Niger Delta Republic. But everybody knows that it is impossible because nothing actually brings them together. An Ibibio man doesn't know anything about a Bini man same as an Ijaw man knows nothing Ogojaman. Lets hope they all come together some day and unite beyond having Oil and access to the sea because if they dont, both their access to the Sea and Oil will only be for the benefit of Northern Nigeria 5 Likes 1 Share |

Guestlander: Unfortunately, no area in Nigeria had the incredible advantage Lagos had for being the capital of Nigeria since 1914 that Nigeria was created. Look at the incredible development Abuja had from being designated Federal Capital of Nigeria If the British had not made Lagos the capital of their Colonial Nigeria, maybe nobody would be their packing their belongings on Ekene dili Chukwu to go to Lagos because it would have been just another coastal wasteland 2 Likes |

mrvitalis: Your comments shows lack of proper information. Why is the capital of Rivers state called “Port” Harcourt? The port there is because of the sea port in Port harcourt and where is it located? “Ikwerre” land. If you don’t know Ikwerre produce hundreds of thousands of crude oil per day. We and the ijaws are not enemies, we live together peacefully as Niger deltans. Ikwerre population is 45% of rivers state not to talk about our brothers Ekpeye and Ogba people which makes us 62% of rivers population. Only Ikwerre,Ogba, and Ekpeye vote is more than Imo state vote. 2 Likes |

Guestlander: While not holding brief for Ironsi (i see him as the same naive and eager-to-please 'one Nigerian' Igbo like his kinsfolk Zik and later, GEJ), there were other dictators from other ethnicities that subsequently came after him! You're zeroing in on his actions while ignoring the subsequent actions/inactions of those that followed. Why couldn't they rectify the 'sin' he committed, or was said 'sin' made immutable and written in the stars for all ages? I believe, as naive as Ironsi was, that he promulgated the unification decree for command-and-control purposes, since they were under military rule at the time and he needed to have the commanders he sent to the regions to be answerable to him. I agree with you though that, had he used a cyrstal ball to look into the future and see the later ramifications of his action, that he would probably not have gone ahead with it. But as they say, hindsight is twenty-twenty vision innit? 1 Like |

PROUDIGBO: You don't need a crystal ball to know that a unitary system is doomed to fail in a country like Nigeria. The British did not even contemplate it when they were leaving. As for why other dictators after Ironsi did not reverse what he did. Why should they? He basically handed the entire country over to the North and you want them to reject it? 3 Likes |

IspitonCowards:3 actually nice reply. All these people do is create and analyse imaginary problems for us with no solutions to nigeria current problems. All the time they keep saying igbo is not united yet they united to fight a war for 3 solid years losing 3m people 50 years later they are still united in the same purpose. If this is not unity then what is it ? The name biafra alone draws the attention of every igboman from every walk of life. From the poor to the rich. From the saint to the sinner, from the low and mighty. biafra is the only topic a rich and man can talk about mutuatlly with all having a say. And to think all this people shouting our resources. I have not seen us fight over resources in another man's land. Take for instance when coal was in vogue did anyone hear that any two igbo men , state , community etc fought over it ? 9 Likes 1 Share |

Your opinion is baseless and without any facts. Unity beggars on the best, now let me remind you that Igbos are not disunited in any way, let me also remind you that Igbo Land have enough Land that can Carter for any kind of surge in Population growth or massive migration to Igbo Land. Deal with it, with or without Biafra Igbos are Strategically relocating back and creating different cities in the South East. It is no longer business as Usual, you guys should get to work and start adjusting because Igbos the light of Nigeria will soon leave and there will total darkness in Nigeria. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: Reasons Why BIAFRA Would Be Difficult (opinion) by Macphenson: 5:28am On Jul 25, 2020 |
IkwerrePikin: Ojukwu did not forcefully include Niger Delta in his struggle. He called for a meeting including all regions asking them the way forward. When he asked them the name the country will bear, a Niger Delta man told him that the name Biafra was already in existence as the Bight of Biafra, that's how the name was adopted. His second in command was a Niger Delta man. You are a Niger Delta man, with all the water bodies surrounding you, and all the ports around your region, yet when you people want to import car, you are tactically forced to import from Lagos ports. Why is it so easy for your oil to be moved out through seas in your region but difficult for cargoes carrying cars and other goods to dock in your port. Nobody needs your oil. I am from Imo state and we have oil. Today it has been proven that Imo state has the highest gas reserve in the country, so you can see nobody is interested in your cursed oil. Take a look at Abuja and compare with your region that the money to develop Abuja came from, and have a proper thinking about yourself. Today Buhari is building refinery in his state when there's no oil there, yet no refinery is functional in the region that has the oil. ARE YOU REALLY FROM NIGER DELTA? 9 Likes 2 Shares |
