For RGU students, did you also get this mail? This was for applicants of Social Work... "In preparation of you joining RGU on Monday 28 September 2020, I want to update you with the plans that we have made in order to provide you with the best and safest start to your learning with RGU. With the current government guidance and social distancing requirements, blended teaching in semester 1 will primarily be delivered digitally, with on-campus experiences being delivered for some cohorts. We intend to transition to normal on campus teaching activity following government guidance in semester two. For students in any cohort who, for whatever personal/health reason are currently unable to attend campus, we want to assure you that you can engage fully with all essential teaching and learning entirely online. Our detailed semester 1 timetable will be issued late August, however a broad indication of the likely minimum timetabled on-campus teaching and learning activity is: Postgraduate MSc Social Work Stage 1 - One 4 hour block per week on-campus Stage 2 - not timetabled to be on campus Our campus will be open with measures in place to keep you safe. Students will be able to attend campus for activities including use of our study spaces and access to our support services. Full details of how to access campus will be provided in the university welcome/induction scheduled online in the week of 21 September, prior to week 1 of teaching. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in September. We will continue to update our coronavirus FAQ webpages with the latest guidance, and we will keep in touch as our preparations continue to ensure you have the information and support so that you are ready for the new academic session. We look forward to welcoming you to academic session 2020-21. Note: The current proposed arrangements will be reviewed in line with further guidance on the COVID situation. The teaching on-campus stated is a minimum and may be increased according to updating rules and regulations." |

mattfeuter: Na wa o when a school take responsibility it means they have set out measures in order not to put students at risk. You will be sent out of the place if you don't obey the rules or you will sit with police. Thank God oyibo no dey waste time with police. If you are migrant the go back to your country if you want to put people at risk thats why the UK Govt have said once you enter their country give them the address of where you're staying. Comprehension should be that hard now. 1 Like |

Aprokodaughter: What are you on about? you’re talking about something different. This is where personal responsibility comes into place. Unis cannot monitor students 24/7, and yes as I’ve mentioned earlier, they can only put measures in place I.e sanitizers, Hand Washing stations, Social distancing rules etc and hope people will use their common sense. |

Can some people already in UK give us hints on how to secure accommodation (outside campus), hotel booking etc because of this quarantine measures. Your contributions will be highly appreciated |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by duchess90(f): 12:29pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
About quarantine measures, speak with your school and see how they can help, some schools may have temporary accommodation you can use for the 14days perhaps at a reduced price compared to hotels, and with no further contract after the quarantine period so you can leave. Another option is an affordable Air B n B (using your schools postcode as a search location), i am sure there will be guidance on Air B n Bs too. On general accommodation, alot of links have been given here if you go through previous threads; rightmove, zoopla, openrent, gumtree etc. The advice is to have a look for what suits your budget before you leave, send emails or call the landlords or agents directly(inform them that you aren't in the country yet and try to stall abit till you arrive the UK to physically view the accommodation) and if satisfied then pay. To reduce the torture of seeing the accommodation you like being taken, look through a couple of weeks before leaving. An extra tip is to double check the distance of the accommodation to your prospective schools so you can save on transport and remember to read through the rental agreement and ask questions on anything you aren't comfortable with. Others can add... Cheers bayosegun: |

Hi all, I could link anyone going to Keele or Staffordshire University with a private landlord for cheap quarantine or longer term accommodation. You can DM if interested. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 1:44pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
As a married woman, you're not obliged to change your name if you don't want to (UKVI understands this) and it doesn't affect your marital status when filling forms. You can use your maiden name and tick the married box. Since your maiden name is on all your documents (including passport and account) and you don't want to get a new passport in your husband's last name, just fill in your maiden name on your visa application form and select married and input your husband's details. In this case, you don't need your wedding certificate except your hubby is applying with you since all your legal documents have the same name on them. EkeneMiriam: 1 Like |

Yes it’s okay. They will know from your student ID number and name (written on the offer letter that you give to the bank). You can also send them the telex copy to fasten the confirmation gracedforever: |

@Stenon thanks for your relentless support and advice as always. From what you quoted below, the 24 months after studies then means there is still a pending tuition balance to be paid right? Can that allow you access the psw visa when the degree hasn't been completed with a certificate been issued? Would any institution issue a certificate without full payment of the tuition fee? Can tuition balance be spread into the placement year so the payment doesn't overweigh someone? The summer holiday period can avail a typical 9ja hustler how much on the average during this long holiday for January intake? STENON: 1 Like |

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 6:38pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
You won't be allowed to graduate without offsetting your tuition balance. Without graduating, you won't be able to take advantage of the PSW. You won't get your certificate with pending tuition payments. There are deadlines for tuition payments and extending tuition from prior study years to the placement year is unlikely. Failure to meet all payment deadlines might result in the school reporting you to UKVI which will lead to a curtailment of your visa. How much you make during summer holidays depends on how many hours you're able to work and that largely depends on the industry (hospitality, care, nightlife) you work in. i.e. if you're able to work 40 hours/week at minimum wage during summer holidays, that will be 40 hours * £9.20 = £368 weekly. buddie: |

@mimilyrics Thanks so much for your prompt response. And there would be 15% tax and NI deductions from those earnings right? mimilyrics: 1 Like |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 7:07pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
This will be calculated using your tax code and I can't be definite about how much will be deducted but as long as you're below the personal income threshold, you'll only pay something little for NI and nothing for tax.
