NDakota:
First off, congrats, man.

You went in and passed out of NYSC in one piece. And you were able to save much with little pay. Kudos, you've built something solid that will serve you whatever you do...

What you have developed is called financial discipline.

It's rare to see Nigerian youths with this skill these days.

My advice to you?

I don't give business or investment advice. But I can tell you what not to do...

...Never EVER go back to Abia. You'll kill the little dreams you have if you get back to that backwater.

I left Abia a few years ago, and it's been the best decision of my life so far.

Ota is close to Lagos. Whatever you start there has a 10X chance of gaining more traction than whatever you start in Abia.

#500,000 isn't a lot of money. Stay put and grow tha tmoney where you made it from!
thanks so much, I really appreciate. I know Abia is currently not good for business, and I have thought about it severally, and always get convinced things will change by then my business will have been well established, and secondly their are people making cool money in Abia...

My brother, what is the shame in doing legitimate work like riding bike? Between you and hushpuppi, who has more prestige and whose head is carrying international shame and disgrace?

It is your money and you worked for it. That's all that counts. Even in my farm last year, I joined the villagers contracted for the harvest to bring in the corn. They only knew I was the owner of the farm when I put my hands in my pocket and brought out the cash to pay them.

No shame in legitimate work.
yeah no shame in legitimacy, I do encourage myself with words like *bros if they see you begging they will laugh you more " while playing Burna boy ( dangote)... thanks so much, I really appreciate.

Op read about risevest. They just got into techstars. They help Nigerians make dollar based investments. You can bet on them. Don't listen to anyone telling you to use that money for any business.

Barbing salon is a good one as well as the laundry, but I advice you learn the skill before you open it,why because you need the pure knowledge even if you will put someone to manage it for you. Then another thing is if that place has population. And your outlet is large enough. You can use a part of the money to start a drink shop in whole sale. When your money grows you keep expanding your drink shop maybe you rent a bigger shop for it then. Okirika is a good business too if you stay in a student's or well populated area, you will be opening bails each week, its another money making machine. Well-done dear and may God guide you.

Dont try any of these hustle becos you will regret it.
You need an hustle that can bring you daily income and not all this real estate or forex stuff that will drain you and also not realistic.
Anyways before I tell u wat u can venture on , I will like to knw if u have any skill and how ur locality is? What people patronize the most and what they have but just few are into it. If possible tell me about the population and what occupation do most of them do.
I started my own business after NYSC but unlike urs, instead of working part time, I was learning skills and also serving.
I learnt how to make text books , how to bind project( hard cover) and upgraded my computer skill. Along the line, favour met with preparation some one told me about where I can put my skills into use and I went down to Taraba state to start my own ICT shop and Today I have anoda branch.

Lastly, I would advice u to visit abia state, see what they do there. Spend a week there and c what they have there that is not in ogun state

thanks Sir, I really appreciate.... I can paint, and I wanted to learn how to produce paint but had some medical complications then that made me change my mind and hustle... and no one does that in my area. my area is not all that populated like sango otta here but it's not shanty either, it's comparable to some places in Umuahia...

Am really going to be straight here. I was able to save #200,000 through a side hustle (riding okada) early last year (jan-may) while awaiting service and up to another 100k i used for service.

I abandoned the money in a fixed deposit account and moved on for nysc... During my nysc, i found my way to the secretariat which gave me chance to do small hustle. I got a factory work which was paying me 25-35k (with loads of stress and i was settling them at the secretariate with 7k). With that, i was able to save all my allowee(#310,250) except the first that was paid in camp cash.

I traveled home during the early corona virus lock down as corpers were advised to go home or any safe place and my factory work was back sliding as materials were costly in the market. >>>

Currently am done with nysc and left my work before the lock down, critically thinking of what next to do with my life. Contemplating on staying back at ogun (sango otta) where i served or going back to abia (my state) and start up fishery or piggery, or poultry, or computer center, or dry cleaning. Just lost in thought. I know how hard i worked to gather this money, i starved myself and deprived myself enjoyment, and the shame of a graduate riding okada (as my dad was financially ok before he died 2k17). I just don't want to carry two legs put for river talk say na testing..

thanks plenty, i really appreciate. I wanted to move to the state capital and start a dry cleaning and computer center but was contemplating if combining with him will be good...

Since you've been into transportation business (okada) before, I'd advise you use the money to get a nice and well maintained japanese car like Toyota. You can use the car for Taxi/Cab business. Transportation is very lucrative, especially in a city like Lagos... And the car would also double as a means of transportation for you.
