I shared it here because most here are lettered, can handled laconic expressions/viewpoints, and have real-world experiences. Growing up in the midwest.Detroit to be precise. It's only if you've lived through discrimination that you can understand what the African American communities had to endure. Detroit is a basket case of redlining at its worst and the impact of lobbying the government to break prosperous communities. I can't go into details but Detroit had a history of racial violence that lead to the "white flight" in the 1960s' The African American communities were never forgiven. Most of these things are better experienced than explained. Note: Your experiences shape your opinions. Someone that grew up in a diverse cosmopolitan location may have a different opinion. But one thing is clear. I never knew I was black until I got to America. Today Detroit is gentrified. Most blacks have become priced out of the new urban renewal going on. Dan Gilbert(the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers) owns nearly all the buildings in the city. It's now more white than I am used to. And most businesses are either owned by arabs or whites 5 Likes |

He seems to have done more for black Americans when you compare with the welfare state dependence the democrats created, which has had damning consequences. Conservatives hold dear to everything traditional including self preservation which the black American unfortunately doesn't fit into. It's a losing battle on both sides. 1 Like |

Nigsrdumb: Interesting I believe that it is PROGRESSIVE policies that will help black (and poor white) Americans the best Conservative policies as one who has an economics background is not the best policy to have It was under a "conservative policy president " that the American debt was tripled under his presidency, turning the world biggest creditor nation to biggest debtor nation in one presidency That was Reagan It was a Conservative thaf plunged America into two expensive wars, and at the same time implement steep tax cuts for the super rich and corporations to benefit from It was under a conservative president that the global financial crisis of 2008 happened And bailout were given I dont want to go on and on But Republican presidents since Reagan have been nothing but disaster I long for the day when america will have an FDR TO TRUMAN TO EISENHOWER TO JFK kind of succession of presidencies That was when America was at its greatest Reagan to me marked the beginning of the decline of the American empire Now we have Trump smh Supply side economics is a fraud It should be scrapped 1 Like |

DexterousOne: I don't think conservative policies plundered the economy, there was a bubble that was going to eventually pop due to the way the global lending system works with regards to finance. When I talk about conservatism, I'm interchangeably talking about both trad values and fiscal conservatism. I could argue about lower co operation taxes and how it benefits job creation, as well the need to maintain regional hegemon through different channels like wars etc. Anyway you are completely right about your analysis about black Americans. 1 Like |

Nigsrdumb: Trump has done nothing that benefits black Americans per se, if you classify policies that "benefit" lower income groups as those that benefit them. Trump is doing his utmost to repeal the ACA, which is flawed admittedly, but is so far the only thing Americans have that provides some form of a shield against medical bankruptcy. Abolishing the federal Department of Education is a key Republican plan, and Trump is currently actively diverting funds from the public school system (which benefits poorer citizens) to school choice programs. It was actually Clinton who started welfare reform in 1996, with the imposition of work requirements and limitation of benefits. 1 Like |

DexterousOne:Trickle-down economics too is crap. Reagan was economically illiterate. Making the rich richer does not trickle down to raise the working class up. In America, the rich get richer and the working class are replaceable and so forth. The gig economy and the battle against unionisation now being pushed vigorously through a conservative Supreme Court (check out the ruling in Janus vs. AFSCME, for instance) all tend to enhance inequality in America. There is a reason why enlightened societies departed from capitalism and embraced socialism and America is a good example of capitalism at its worst. This is the 21st century, but the relentless buildup of an underclass, of whatever racial composition, can have the same effects as it had in the 19th or early 20th centuries, in terms of the alienation of those left behind. Meanwhile, after Reagan cut taxes comprehensively, George Bush, a fellow Republican, was forced to come back and raise taxes. Government does have some basic functions to fill, of which it cannot be stripped, and these do cost money. 1 Like 1 Share |

Nigsrdumb: Ronald Reagan was the one who set in motion the conditions that put america in trouble decades down the line And yes he was a supposed "conservative " Union busting Tax cuts Rapid military spending Illegal operations abroad Rogue missions in America Corpotatisation of America Etc..... When you encourage tac cuts for the rich Legalise stock buybacks (yea that was Reagan too) and give wall street leeway to act as rogues You are setting in motion a bubble that is bound to bust. Since Reagan came and left, the boom/bust cycles have been coming for frequently That's the legacy of "conservatism" "Conservatives" that are racking up insane deficits |

If you, your father or forefathers have never been enslaved it will be ignorant of you to come out and say some blacks like Obama revel in victimhood. If you or your relatives never experienced slavery first hand ,please keep your mouth shut and dont ever deride the pathetic status of the Black Americans. A lion released after being caged for so long may never leave it's cage believing that it's still in bondage. The Facts: The easiest way to get Jailed in America is by being black, the easiest means of getting shot by the police is by being black. if you are black In the corporate world know that there is a ceiling in place for you, hence your chances of attaining the top spots are limited though not impossible. shogbenga: No, I don't think it is. I mean, it may or may not contribute; but it's a sensitive subject and no one would broach it with a ten foot pole in mainstream science. So we're left mostly with postulations and theories that have not been rigorously contested. The main takeaway is that when the Arabs and Europeans encountered sub-Saharan Africans in the 2nd millennium CE, most societies were in the Neolithic period. The likes of Egypt, the Levant, the Mesoamericas, Minoans, China, India, and quite a bit of Asia had passed that stage up to 4000 years prior. Meeting the Europeans felt like time travel. E b lyk say we jump class. Most of the issues face black African nations are challenges others had to resolve over thousands of years though painful, treacherous experiences. For instance, take sophisticated roads. The Romans didn't build their paved roads for aesthetic reasons. They developed it out of necessity to be able to move massive military forces within a short time to quell disturbances and expand their empire. They borrowed and improved on a similar system by the Persians. The Persians were content in staying in their motherland but conquered far and wide and needed good roads for rapid dissemination of information. It is said that messengers of the Persian Emperors (called King of Kings) were the fastest living things in the empire. Most things we celebrate as hallmarks of modern civilization were developed out of similar circumstances. Writing, libraries, theaters, tolerance, freedom of religion, right to protest, democracy, strong institutions, the fire service... Subconsciously we're aware of this. It's why sometimes you hear the average Joe say stuff like the British left too early. It's not because they like to be colonized and have fewer rights. It's because deep down we realize we were primary school students who go transferred to a PhD program at Princeton. No matter how intelligent we are, it's too big a sudden jump without preparation. And here's the anecdote on why it's not a color thing. The all- or mostly-black Nubians of present day Sudan. They revered the Egyptians who were their neighbors and rivals. They shared a lot and at a point, the Nubians conquered Egypt and had a short dynasty as the Black Pharoahs. In fact, there are more pyramids in Nubia than in Egypt. The Moors are another example. There isn't much scholarly work on why the Nubians didn't conquer southwards. There is some evidence they served as a trading intermediary between the primitive sub-Saharan tribes and Egypt, the Middle East and the Far East. Maybe it's because they had too much on their hands with the Egyptians and other Middle Eastern kingdoms. But the sub-Saharan tribes did not benefit from the Nubians and Middle Eastern civilizations and were unable to build their own advanced civilizations. Most declined, died out, and new settlers took their place. The current tribes in West, Central, Southern, and some parts of East Africa were relatively recent settlers. We may have died out as well like those who lived on these lands before us or broken the cycle. For better or worse, by coincidence, the Europeans expanded during out time and we were thrust into the spotlight with an all-new world system we were not prepared for and we're struggling. If you think about it, it shouldn't really be a surprise. Whether we'd adjust over time is up in the air. It's not like we're the only ones. But if we don't, we'd not be the first and it'd be no one's fault but ours. It's why I'm all for lay off the excuses and get sh*t done. This planet is unforgiving and humans are ruthless. We've had this kind of current stability before in antiquity. It never lasts. -Lord 10 Likes 1 Share |

Euro bond investors take note, the CBN and banks now have a backlog of settling foreign debt obligations, there is currently up to a six months delay or more. If you have Eurobonds investment or foreign currency denominated debt instrument, attempt to withdraw from it and give us an update.

Nigsrdumb: No. Blacks are less intelligent No. It will take brute force and dogged determination to propel blacks into the 21st century. Depends on how you use both terms. === Here's a recent pic of Koma women. It's not a Nollywood movie. Same pigmentation as the rest of us. Would you consider them inferior or less intelligent? If not, then our skin color shouldn't be the "problem." If you think they are, you just entered the mind of the average Caucasian/Asian/Arab Supremacist. Now, consider this thought exercise, if there were several tribes at the same developmental level as the Koma and Jibu and you aggregated them to form a country/nation: How quickly do you think they'd be able to build a Singapore? Do you think they'd be able to skip all of the issues endemic to current sub-Saharan African countries? I suppose it's interesting that while the rest of us are building skyscrapers, traveling in planes, using phones; we have neighbors residing in the same country who are stuck in the Neolithic. In 2020 no less. Now extrapolate that over hundreds and thousands of years. And skin color or superiority/inferiority themes fade into the background. === We have to realize where we were when the Europeans and Islamists came relative to the dominant powers then; where we are now relative to the current powers; and where we want to be as well as what it'd take. More importantly, we should understand that we don't have the luxury to dilly-dally, formulate and christen excuses, or keep stumbling over ourselves. WWII ended less than 100 years ago. The US, Russia, and China fought on the same side. Today, they're on each other's throats. All it takes is one mistimed move or error, and there'd be a Berlin Conference 2.0. Heaven help the African Americans. Dem fil say dem don suffer? Small testing the microphone when China do with COVID; who e affect pass for US? Blacks ba?! And this applies to all blacks: Stop coming up with reasons why you can't make progress. Adopt a "whatever it takes" mindset. -Lord 5 Likes 1 Share |
