and how sure are you your friends didnt use connection to secure the jobs? in this life nobody will tell you how he got in. you may be claiming tthey got it on merit but i bet you some of them were helped but they will never tell you the truth. merit in any federal govt job is very very few. babacha:
70% connection, lie, lie, lie. U just dey talk as if u be the HR. Na connection u take get that ur work?
Let me tell u some thing about federal goverment recruitment that u may not know. Federal goverment uses quarter system. They may take 20 or15 person from each state as the case may be. If u are from a state with more applicant, it becomes difficult for u and if u are from a state with few applicant, it becomes easy for u to get the job. Now let me give u live situation. In 2006 after my OND, NNPC advertise must of us with distinction and upper credit apply for the trainee operator position. Two of my course mate from Ebonyi state got the job, they are in warri refinery till today, . In 2010 NNPC advertise again, now we have graduated and most of us apply again. My friend from bayelsa and his elder brother got the job. He is in PH refinery. All this people did not have any connection, the question is, how many people from ebonyi or bayelsa state have upper credit or distinction that wrote NNPC aptitude test and pass? Very few, so they have more chance of getting the job compare to me and others from delta state. The competition is high in delta, u have to be the best. So if u are from delta state, u will be shouting connection, connection that is making u not to get the job. For NNPC, i will tell u that merit is more than connect, go and ask very well.
Note also that for 90% of connection to work for you, u have to meet the required qualification to apply for the job, and u have to pass the aptitude test so dat ur connection can have mouth to speak for u. If u fail aptitude test woefully, ur connection will be ashame to speak for u and that is why most people with connection are not getting the job.
Now let me expose those who are claiming that they have connection. Those with connection, tell us when the aptitude test will be coducted? Ask ur connection and tell us, those that ES has promise job, please ask ES and tell us. Nobody go answer the question ooo. Just watch.
Friend please prepare for the test if u are shortlisted and u will come here to share the good news

i agree with most of your points and disagree with a few, yes to a certain level number of ppl that do better in ur state affects ur general chances like i earlier pointed out which is the disadvantage of the federal character stuff which is where the grace and luck falls in. its possible that u did better than those your colleagues in the test and interview of nnpc those years but like u said ppl in ur state might have been far more competitive very true. where i have some issues is with the connection part...like someone once said...there are different types of connection, u have 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G etc them ...lool there are ppl with connection that would know everything about this recruitment but they dont have ppl that can influence e.g ppl with someone in HR in the agency but not the highest level, there are those who wont know much about the whole process just that they'll collect letter e.g people with someone in presidency and national assembly leadership and committee chairmen on local content and ppl the ES wants to specifically help, there are those with ppl who might be hustling to assist them they might know small of the happenings so its dependent on availability and how u perform that might determine how u enter (which is where a bulk of ppl who claim to have connection might fall under tho not 90%)...but like u said everyone hoping on merit should do their part an read and pass and be waiting for permutations and combinations) babacha:

This thread is not created for connections talk please. We are here to help each other with informations as regards our preparations and what to expect in the fourth coming aptitude test. Let's calm down abeg. That was how one certain Teddybear was disturbing people on the NNPC thread about connections talk but in the end many people I know got it on merit and they came hard on him and disgraced him out of that thread. Well, at the end both connections and merits will work very sure about it, remember there’s no recruitment in federal government that’s not influenced by politicians in Nigeria. The only thing is you must do your own part that’s do your best because Nigeria factor cannot swept all the positions advertised.
All that is required is some positions can only be occupied by competent people who knw what’s entails in those places equally federal character which is quota system must be respected.
So don’t be surprised each state have their pass marks differently and as such some people will get it easily than others.
Above all one must do his best to be able to secure the job, prayers and hardwork are the key to success ✌️ |

You guys should just thread softly, the competition hasn't started yet. At this stage, only luck could make one get shortlisted for the aptitude test. One might meet all the criteria but still not get shortlisted which means one has lost the battle even before the war starts. Let's just pray we get shortlisted and then start thinking of the next step. The ball is in your court only when you've been sent invitation to write aptitude test.
As for the merit part, I think for NCDMB to have remained anonymous in the newspaper publication, then you all should know they really mean business and not ready to entertain job lobbying by politicians or public servants. I won't be surprised if this recruitment is handled entirely by a third party outsource firm. Probably, NCDMB would only call us for offer at the end of the recruitment or just for interview.
For the quota system, this would also play a part in this recruitment but not to the extent of that of other FG agencies due to the location of the head office. I guess little number of northern applicants applied. You all know security is a major concern in the country. If unrest should happen in Niger Delta, a hausa man would be very vulnerable. I think this might be a factor while less application might be received from northern people. I see southern names dominating the employment list but every geopolitical zones would be represented.
As for those looking for past questions, this is the first time NCDMB is recruiting openly. We don't even know the recruitment firm handling it. I would just advise anyone not used to aptitude tests should go and study how to solve mathematics problems and master their shortcuts. Also Use of English should be mastered.
As for me, until I get shortlisted before I take this recruitment serious as that is when the power is transferred to me and not the recruiter. I see this recruitment coming to an end before the end of this year, 2020. NCDMB plans to bring all new and existing staff into the new edifice office this year. I think that's reason why they option for virtual test because of the urgency attached to this recruitment and moreover, the pandemic. So, the recruitment would most likely be a quick one and majorly full of merit candidates. The firm is just 10 years old, favouritism isn't that much there yet. Go to Twitter, you all will see this agency is transparent with all their dealings.
Good luck to everyone of us!! See you all in Local Content Tower come December. But before then, we should keep sharing necessary information as the recruitment advances. 18 Likes |

I heard someone saying the job is for southerners unfortunately federal government gives quota to all state through federal character although Niger Delta takes large share of the slot No dispute about that especially Bayelsa state Indigene.
Issues concerning insecurity we are not praying for that, NNPC can redeploys her staff who are northerners to Warri refinery or Port-harcourt refinery without considering any problem.
So if it comes to recruitment of this nature just prepare your mind to work in a multi-diverse society.
Let’s just be focusing on getting the job before any other talk.

I dont know why u still want to believe that connection is the only best way to get a job. Change that mind set if u want to make progress in ur job hunting Bro this is not about mindset. Nobody said there won't be merit. What we are saying is that there will be merit and they will also be connection. Take it or leave it, I strongly believe connection will be higher than merit as long as it is a federal government job.. It was in this same street we heard some politicians were given slot for NPOWER. NPower that pays just 30k they are still collecting slot. It was on this same street keyamo had a serious argument with the house concerning the 774000 jobs. Job that pays 20k. The reasons for the argument then was because thee house wanted to do some underground dealings and he wanted them to do everything in front of the world camera. So tell me what is now NDCMB that pays times 10 of what NPower pays and you think there won't be high level of connection. In as much as you wanna be optimistic, at least try and be pessimistic. After all you ain't a foreign individual that they will be telling you things like you are a kid. You are in Nigeria and you know what's going on in Nigeria. We see everything going on everyday which is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf Concerning this issue, I am not saying anything about it again and I want you all to know I am not trying to bring doubt on people. All what I am saying is that in as much as you are prayerful and hopeful, don't put your heart 100% in case you don't get it you won't be disappointed. 4 Likes |

I dont know why u still want to believe that connection is the only best way to get a job. Change that mind set if u want to make progress in ur job hunting Oga the way you are going on about this your pro merit activism is rather not it, allow people to shield themselves from the rocky terrain that is the Nigerian labour market especially as it relates to Federal govt recruitments. It has become a coping mechanism for applicant's mental health from the jungle out here, because for some people their grades/age already puts them at a disadvantage in the private sector. There's no one here that will not want to be a recipient/beneficiary of whatever the percentage slots of the merit candidates are. Because at the end of the day, the vast majority of us don't know anybody and as such we're only putting our hope on that. One thing we must not do is lie to ourselves or downplay the fact that connection plays a major role in federal government recruitments and that already stacks the odds against the numerous candidates who don't know anybody. Most of us here have participated in one or numerous govt recruitments and we all know what the popular outcome has always been, we only continue applying because we are hoping for that breakthrough. Personally, I have learnt that a lot of people will be shouting merit while pressing buttons in the background and that was evident in my time on the DPR thread where people were shouting merit up and down, but at the end of the day the story was different. This is not to dampen anyone's spirit, but just to let us know not to swallow every tale of merit with hook, line and sinker. And all the best to everyone in their endeavors and also in the course of the recruitment process. 5 Likes 1 Share |

This is not to dampen anyone's spirit, but just to let us know not to swallow every tale of merit with hook, line and sinker. And all the best to everyone in their endeavors and also in the course of the recruitment process. 2 Likes 1 Share |

You are right. Those shouting merit were the ones giving firsthand information. They ended up getting DPR job. Infact one of them said she met her appointment letter on the dinning table, a DPR boss brought it when she was not around. It is well. TheWizPhoenix:
Oga the way you are going on about this your pro merit activism is rather not it, allow people to shield themselves from the rocky terrain that is the Nigerian labour market especially as it relates to Federal govt recruitments.

This is not to dampen anyone's spirit, but just to let us know not to swallow every tale of merit with hook, line and sinker. And all the best to everyone in their endeavors and also in the course of the recruitment process. So we should start discussing connection here na, get my point clear, ur shouting connection, connection. That will not help any body here. How will u feel if a doctor tell u dat the chances of surviving what is disturbing is low, will it dampen ur spirit? And how will u feel if another doctor tell u dat what is disturbing u is a small tin to handle? Will dat lighting ur spirit? The power of the mind is very strong, if u give urself hope, u achieve great tins, but if u lose hope before the fight, u can never win. I dont care wat happen at the end after all not every one will get the job, but dont kill any body fighting spirit. Some times connection dont work d way u think. Let me tell u some tin that happen within this covid-19 period. Because of the fear of the outbreak of covid-19 in offshore facilities, my company have to tell many of us to stop work. My back to back is from the same community with the HR of my company and he is very close to the HR. He is the one that give me information of wat is going on. But to my surprise the company call me first to resume now that tins has normalised and he has not been called with his closeness and connection to the HR. Most times ur performance speak more than ur connection. Am not saying there is no connection. If u have worked in a private company, u find out that there more connection and man know man in the private company than the goverment company. But am not an advocate of connection. Because there are thousands of people out there lik me who dont have connection and i cant kill their fighting spirit. What i preach is "fight for it, u will get it, dont demoralise urself with the connection of others u already have the greatest connection in the world - God " am not forcing any body to accept my preaching, but that is what i preach. I give realistic hope to people. Thank u 6 Likes 1 Share |

@Nekkycee, Naciest and Babacha. Some one among you wrote something about aptitude test and APL collection. Is it that NCDMB did aptitude test only(without interview) in one of their past recruitments? Please who has answer to my question |
Re: OilandGasJobs Recruitment 2020 by nasiest(m): 10:02pm On Jul 30, 2020 |
I think it was DonShearer that wrote that and he said aptitude test comes before interview and then final shortlisting and that it happened within a month in the last recruitment. aeder:
