Unfortunately land mass is not one of determinants in actualization of a country. The bolded is a misconception of elementary level. Lagos will collapse if Nigeria disintegrates.

Those southeast states you mentioned contributes more to the national treasury than most of those orobo states. In saner climes you are rated by how viable you are economically than how much landmass you have. May be you should have mentioned Lagos since its the smallest, state like Rivers is not even up to any northern states if am not mistaken when you talk of landmass but economically contributes in multiples more than the whole Northampton Nigeria put together . Your basses for states to be merged because of landmass is not cogent.
