My brother, you said it all. The quality of Lagos alone can withstand West Africa. Do you know that the GDP of Lagos is the highest in West Africa.

It is not land mass anymore but mind mass, brain mass, knowledge mass and human capital mass.

Nigeria as a country made Lagos what it is today.

Hmmm lagos is the smallest followed by Anambra yet they are the economic backbone of the nation with respect to commerce.

Bakassi did not belong to Nigeria in the first place

https://www.nairaland.com/5627495/what-young-nigerians-should-learn#85735444

It belonged to the Efik people who later became Nigerians. Obong of Calabar and Queen Victoria of Great Briatin once signed a treaty that included Bakassi. One wonders which Cameroonian figurehead had whiff of the treaty.

...your response would get good support if it were true that the five states, or the region in itself, is a respectable economic performer.

You must find some other index with which to brand SE, land and economy ranking work against you. Lagos state is a tiny state but economic giant. The whole SW region is the top income earner for Nigeria and also the top culturally diverse society, and in land size the region is the biggest in the South.

So Ibos need to define new brandings, economic or geographic does not work well in your favour.
Which whole south west apart from Lagos can u even compare any south west state to akwa ibom.

keep dreaming. If we disintegtate lagos wont collapse. It would be the economy capital of the southwest....if we invest in waterways. That alone is enough to boost our economy.

I am not given to back and forth silly arguments with Yari.ba peeps. My grandfather told me "There is no need to argue about wrestling prowess where there is plenty of ground". its not about "those stuffs they say are only possible online"... before something is put online it has to already be in the mind and mentality of the person or group of people.

the fact that it is online is even worse, because it means they are re-writing Yoruba history and when an online search is done their answers will be in top 10 search results due to nai:ralands popularity.

Yorubas should never allow anyone re-write their history.

I'm even surprised no one has called out B:eyonce for using it too much.

True though. One of the problems we are facing is that our Obas, kings, traditional rulers etc who are supposed to be custodians of our history are mostly chasing after money and interested in buying rolls royce. Some Yoruba groups in the SW are already coming up with plans to reorient our young about the tradition and customs. Thing is, they are underfunded. Nevertheless, I'm certain that they'll gain ground with time and people would learn to associate with their traditions and customs proudly.

Singapore is doing fine despite being just a city state, other places that depend on the Lagos port will be held to ransome if that happens.

Please educate us on the places that depend on Lagos port. The silly or assumed dependent on Lagos port is purely idiotic and politics. The moment the shithole ceases to exist, the Lagos will have to compete with others ports in other nation states such as Warri port, Calabar port, Onne port, Bonny port and even Port Harcourt port without any silly federal government of Nigeria's directives.

As you can see in his post.

Dangote can't move it, he already wasted billions on the project, infact I heard he's also building a seaport right beside the refinery.

Why would Dangote moved the refinery to the North when the North does not have oil?

If NIGERIA breaks today, Dangote will continue his business in the South West, the cement plant in ibese, Ogun state will continue.
The refinery will continue, we have oil in Ondo and Lagos.

Including his biggest cement factory in Obajana (the Yoruba part of Kogi state)

That's how blessed the Yorubas are.

This question comes to mind that why would Dangote build almost all his access in the Southwest and not southeast or northwest where he comes from....?

grin lol Dangote refinery is not your owns as well as many companies. The man can come tomorrow to lift his thing to his village.

you just had to jump on a topic you have no idea about right? do you think refineries grow on trees? or there are not careful considerations before establishing businesses in certain places? where the hell is the logic in your argument? how can Nigeria ever move forward when simpletons like this make a huge portion of our population?

You are correct, Osun and Ekiti states are economically viable than those states you mentioned. If you doubt me, ask the indigene of those states that reside in Osun and Ekiti states. You can see I did not mention oyo state and ondo state because Oyo state alone is economically viable than the entire states in South East.

I visited Osogbo in 1979 when it was under Oyo State. I must say my stay in the city was memorable for one thing. During this period, Oyo State had three remarkable cities which were Ibadan, Ogbomosho and Osogbo. Ibadan was only place with image of a city. The other two were glorified villages.

Borgu and Kainji were never hausa speaking people. They have their own language. Even the Niger state itself is not a hausa speaking state, the main language there is Nupe and then some few minorities in which hausas are among.

Please shut your putrid mouth for once. Anything Lagos is commonwealth. I wonder why most Nigerians have kept quiet about this point. Since Lagos was built on the back of Nigerian commonwealth, any revenue generated in Lagos must be shared as crude oil money too.
