Is it still necessary to point out that the charlatan Ferguson didn't even need to spend heavily (But he did anyway ) to win his kinsmen's league because he had every referee and even the FA in his pocket....

Do not forget to point out that he couldn't match what his competitors paid the FA and referee those years he didn't win the league. Also don't forget to point out how he paid the refs in champions league too, especially between 2007 and 2011
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by swiz123(m): 8:26am On Aug 01, 2020
To my fellow Chelsea fan, let's just stop the hate on pep. I for one would like our club to spend the way pep is doing. I can't start hating on Pep because his spending makes him better than us; we can also match his spending if we think that's his trick.

It is also needless to mention that the boards invests in a manager whom they trust. Do you expect a club will invest 700m€ in a manager like David moyes or Emery? No. A club only backs a manager who has proven to be effective when backed.

Just like we rightly pointed out, spending is a two way thing: income and expenditure. But our analogy took a wrong turn when we thought income can only be made by selling players off. A club makes money from other activities aside selling players, eg: shirt sales, sponsorship bonuses, cup win bonuses, ticket sales etc.....
In the same vein, a club needs make some profit at the end of the year. The point is, whatever Pep is spending, Man city makes income which is greater than their expenditure. Unless you guys thinks that Man city runs a loss on account of Pep's success on the pitch. A club can't be that foolish; it is a business enterprise, not a charity organization.

lastly, let's not pretend that we wouldn't like a manager like Pep to head Chelsea because as fans that we all are, our only concern is too win trophies and play eye-catching football to go along with it.

Those years he didn't win the league, his rivals surprised him by beating his army of referees and FA.

He didn't have the same influence in the UCL, hence winning it only twice which all but begs the question, "why are they so dominant in the league alone"?

You mean his rivals out bid him to win the league because according to you the league is for sale

Within that same period, which team from England did better than United in the champions league? Let's know those that were doing better in champions league and so deserved to do better in the league than SAF

God bless you.

The Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Man City will still want Pep as their Manager any day any time......

To most people here, clubs make profit only by selling players..... So I would love to know why Man UTD, Barcelona and Real Madrid are leading in the money league..

Once again, thank you for this write up.

It was not that big. There were multiple transfers in the EPL for more than that including defenders and midfielders. It barely made it into top 10 EPL transfers that season.

When Hazard left for real Madrid, his salary improved.

They should have reduced it na, if they felt big club and trophies was what he really wanted.

It happens but it's rare. Pepe paid part of his transfer fee from his own pocket when he wanted to move from Porto to Madrid. Coutinho reportedly did the same when he wanted to leave Liverpool to Barca. Kaka was offered much more money by Man City but he refused their offer and chose Real Madrid's less comparable wages instead

So Degea was doing well ?? He is not at fault for those easy goals? .. cheesy cheesy

Ferguson would have ditched him the same way he did to Carroll, Howard, Taibi....etc

The same Ferguson signed 2 goalkeepers in the same transfer window,... Foster and Van dersar.

When our defence was doing rubbish, he signed Vidic and Evra together in the same January transfer window.

I mixed up with his return to Spurs, but even so, £3.5m was nowhere near big money in 1997.

Don't haughtily ask me if I know cos I'm from that period. For comparison, Chelsea spent £5m on a 29 year old left-back Graeme Le Saux in 1997 and £2.5m on an unknown teenage Nigerian leftback called Babayaro in the same 1997.

So zip your mouth on telling me what you know nothing about. £3.5m was a regular fee in 1997.

Of course you can buy two goalkeepers in one window when you only spent £2m on VDS and £3.5m on Foster

Of course you can sign Vidic and Evra when you spend only £7m on each.

Please don't haughtily and cluelessly tell us these were big money then cos they were not.

Fergie would not be foolish enough to give DeGea £350k per week that will make him difficult to ditch. He warned them on the Rooney contract also before he left but Maga Woodward wouldn't listen.

Even the goals that were not his fault, you heaped on him. You said Ramos was not good and was at fault for goals conceded by Spain. When he was time to insult De gea, he automatically became the one responsible, not Ramos again. You suppose change this your moniker to something else

SAF did well in the aspect of signing players. My issue with him was his football politics backed by English FA and referees.

Ramos and Degea didn't play rubbish in 2018 world cup?

The painful part.... they don't know the meaning of point and kill....

Someone said 17M for an injury prone player close to 30 years old in 2007 is cheap grin grin grin

Hargreaves was 26 in 2007 and had only had one major injury in the recent years which was a broken leg. £17m was fairly cheap for him then.

The same way Pep didn't sign Mahrez when Liecester asked for 80-90M....
The same way he didn't sign Maguire and Fred...

I can name 10-15 players Ferguson signed within 1993- 2003 for about 1M - 15M and he ditched them after less than 10 games for a fee below what he paid for them just because they didn't perform enough in those few games.
