Actually forget about it - you should focus on building high schools - look like Ghana problems are VERY basic. You still need double-track

You have 375,000 students graduating BECE - and only 150,000 available spaces in high school grin grin grin grin grin. Shocking! so more than 200,000 students graduating from primary schools don't have any high school to proceed.

No wonder you're doing double track smiley

MY FRIEND - you're fu.cked. Please focus on building high schools. Kenya we are at 99% primary-secondary transition. We came to Ghana to make that 1% get to 100%. Universal primary to secondary transition - first in Africa.

https://gh.usembassy.gov/education-culture/educationusa-center/educational-system-ghana/
Senior Secondary School/Senior High School: 375,000 Ghanaian students take the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the end of JHS Form 3 (ninth grade) in seven subjects. Admission to Senior Secondary/High School is competitive: only 150,000 students can be admitted into the 500 public and 200 private national secondary schools

So you are happy showing your dumbness to everyone?

We are in 2020 yet you are using 2009 figures to buttress your point?
Are you okay in your head?

See, no amount of falsehood from "you" will change the horrible situations facing kenyan's.

We have over 900 SHS schools, and over 300,00 SHS final year students completing school next week.

So where from that 150,00 figures of SHS students? And your 375 BECE final year students?

Moreover, in Ghana, we don't do "a whole sale" promotion of students, they repeat some. Before you get to form three, you will need to pass your form two exams so the higher you go, the more the number decreases.

Who in his/her right senses will use 2003/2004/2005/2009/2010 reports of another country to compare 2020 performance or figures of his country? I guess you are the only person who will do that grin grin

This rant should be directed to US embassy in Ghana.
So out of 330,000 SHS - is double-track.

Btw I see SHS was introduced in 2007 - was is the rationale for this?
Also what rationale of repeating kids - what if they never pass.

In kenya we have gone to a system without exams smiley

It called competence based education. Continuous assessment. No final exams. No rote learning.

I think Rwanda is also on this.

We are now at 99% transition rate.
Just30:
Ghana secondary school enrollments 2019
473,728 https://avenuegh.com/closure-of-shs-school-placement-and-enrollment-2019/

473,728 Students entered Secondary school in Ghana in 2019.
Placed into 1200 Secondary, Technical and vocational schools.

Kenya Should be placing One million (1M) students into High schools each year and not the mere 500,000 and less out of 1M children who are eligible for entry.
Your country was not able to place 40% of students who sat for KCPE into High school and yet you are here shouting 100% transition rate from Primary school.

Only a deludent person will claim 100% transition rate from primary to secondary school
grin grin

This are what the experts say,
"Holders of the KCPE who do not enroll in secondary schools can attend youth polytechnics, which prepare students for Government Trade Tests, levels 1–3. Less than 50 percent of primary school students continue on to secondary school."
https://wenr.wes.org/2015/06/education-kenya

The transition rate from primary school to High School in Ghana in 2019 was 91%.
517,331 completed Primary school and 473,728 went on to High Schools and TVET schools

Kenya become first Africa country to achieve universal primary to secondary transition.
Almost. 99%

To ensure the 100 percent transition rate, Magoha said the government will launch a countrywide mop-up campaign to trace all candidates who are yet to report to schools.

“I have consulted with the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and the Teachers Service Commission and resolved to engage jointly in the mop-up campaign,” he said, “We have directed our field officers to comb all their regions to find the candidates who are yet to report to schools and ensure that they are enrolled in the schools they were placed in.

rvp2018:
Actually Ghana you need to start from primary schools. 375,000 students graduating primary (BECE) is small number. I think kenya we typical have 1M plus kids graduating primary (KCPE = BECE).

So if you consider the population of Kenya and Ghana - you should be graduating 700,000 primary kids every year.

It appears 50% of Ghanian kids are not making to end of primary school.

So your problems are VERY VERY VERY BASIC.

Out lucky 50% - who make it to the end of primary school - 60% don't have any desk in high schools.

And the solution is to half-baked education where kids go in turns smiley smiley - go home for 3 months smiley - double track.

When it come to university and colleges - look like enrollment is decent 300,000 - but how many Nigerians are in that number? Nearly 1/3 - 75,000 - let add other foreigners - so essentially you're talking 200,000 - a very small number indeed.

In single year - Kenya gov sponsored students are nearly 150,000.

Don't stay in your slums and manufacture figures?

Public Universities in Ghana are highly competitive okay?

Let me Educate you,

University of Ghana is the Public University with the highest number of Foreign or Nigerian students in Ghana, and Foreign students do not even make up to 5% of the entire student population in University of Ghana talk-less the other institutions.

The truth is, many nigerian students don't get admission into our Public Universities,

Majority of them are in our Private Universities(smaller universities).
They don't even make up to 10% of the entire student population in the Private Universities(bigger Uni's) in Ghana so stop lying.

You can do your personal findings on the number of foreign students in these big Private Universities in Ghana.

Valley View University
Central University
Ashesi University
Presbyterian University
Methodist University
Catholic University
Christian Service University
Garden City University
Pentecost University
Islamic University Etc

Nigerians make up the highest number of Foreign students in Ghana but they aren't up to even 5% of the entire University student population in Ghana.

Every KCPE (BECE) is placed into secondary education by an information system based on their choice.

From January when our academic here begin - enrollment is monitored.

All schools - both primary and secondary - have to key in enrollment figures - because every school get funding based on it (capitation).

And you cannot fake - every kid must have their birth certificate, index number, parents details and their pictures taken.

So you can tell when it's 10% to 50% to 80% to 90% to 99%......the statistics are available.

And this year it got to 99% I think.

And we want to get 100%

You cannot compare 2019 primary kids who sat exams and 2019 kids who sat secondary.

How is that 99% transition?

A Nation survey of how schools are coping with the influx of students shows that many are struggling with congestion in dormitories, classes, laboratories, libraries and dining halls."

As of this year - KCSE (secondary) - graduated nearly 800,000. Those are kids who joined form 1 in 2016. Understand that 4 yr differences.

Yes our 100% transition like everything else has teething problem....there will be congestion as we race to build schools.

Every Mp in Kenya - about 300 of them - get Constitutuency Dev Fund - that is used for schools - also the Ministry of Education gave out money for infrastructures.

But Ghana double track is even more disastrous.
