I am humbled to have gotten your invaluable professional opinions and advice.
Thanks guys!
If you were based in Owerri, I would undoubtedly have had dealings with you. Owerri to my village is just 30 minutes and would save lots of expenses on logistics, transportation, etc. Hence my reason for dealing with my contacts in Owerri.
I have decided to settle for the concrete cast parapet and stone coated roofing between an interval of 4 to 6 months. Carpentry works alone has been agreed for 120k for the parapet (excluding materials). I hope to apply and re-schedule my annual leave again as soon the flight ban is lifted. Once again, thanks guys!!!
you will be needing doors and handrails for this building

Please I need urgent help
I have a 3 bedroom flat with self contain apartment.
I will like to do the steel work from foundation to lintel level but a colleague advised me to buy a ton of 12mm(why? it's cheaper to buy in bulk than piecemeal) and moreover I'll still need steel for soak away, gate pillars and water tank stand.

My questions are these:

Should I buy a ton of 12mm of 210k considering the fact that the 12mm would still be needed for soak away and water tank stand

OR

Go for a quote of 120k being the cost of steel and workmanshio from Foundation to lintel

The building is 4dimension,please

Please note,no steel job has been done from inception

For waterlogged area or better still places with high water table, you dont need a soak away but a septic tank. ..

Thanks for your response, I already dig the soakaway, the problem is the soakaway is not soaking anything, infact is the one bringing water from the ground.

In waterlogged sites, it is often found that the water table is exceptionally high
(ie, near the surface). In cases such as this, a soakaway is just not going to
work: think about it - to where will all the additional water you're planning to
send to the soakway drain? There is nowhere for it to go. The 'soakaway' in this
situation is not a soakaway at all; it's a hole full of water, otherwise known as a
sump.

One of the first things to consider when choosing a site for a soakaway is the
water table (aka saturation line). This is defined as upper level of the
groundwater that is naturally held within the soil, sub-soil strata.

However, there are some sites where the water table is high, because there is a
layer of impermeable clay overlying a deeper strata that might be porous. In
such cases, digging through the clay cap and into the porous sub-strata will
render a soakaway feasible, assuming that the depth to the porous strata is not
prohibitive.

I also need same help Sir. I should be done with the block settings by Tuesday. I am planning to do the wood work by next weekend and would cover it up with long span aluminum. No paraphet.
It’s a straight rectangular structure, 78 feet by 34.5 feet. Please suggest the appropriate length for the king post too, as per this size. Thank you sir.

Good afternoon people,
Does the shape of interlock (T, Z, double T etc) confer any special advantage in terms of strength/durability aside costmetic choice?

thank you

It won't work sir.
Put the supply on the connector btw the tanks exactly equal distance.
I usually prefer a switchover system though.

Yes. It is cheaper to buy iron in tonnage, as long as you have safe place to save it from rust due to rain.

Looks Ok to me. But I don't both tanks will be fully filled unless the water inlet it located on top of the tank (Tank A) not on the side as your diagram shows.
Running the pipes in the middle of both tanks should work too.
I only have top and bottom in my setup not sideways. Just my observation, unqualified opinion.

When the Tank A is full, will the water not overflow to the Tank B? I am not a plumber o, just learning.
Yes, switchover connector is always good to prevent overflow.

I think it will but due to pressure, tank A will overflow at the top cover even when tank B is yet be full (except the cover of tank A is air-tight).

In my opinion, above can be reduced by linking both tanks not just at the top but also at the bottom so that the filling process doesn't wait till tank A is filled.

Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by coldcandy: 4:35pm On Aug 02, 2020
That's correct. But the issue is when will it be full?
If the people tank A is serving are using d water at same rate as d pump, it will take a long time before B will take feed.
When tank B is empty and someone on the tank needs quick water to bath, he will have to wait for tank A to be full before B will have a drop.
The inconvenience can be avoided by feeding both tanks through the top connector. I will even equalize the two tanks with a bottom connector pipe to always keep d two tanks at same level all the time!

It will work but the system will not be working at an optimal level. This is a case of co-joint twins.

Tank B is entirely dependent on Tank A. If Tank A is half full and Tank B is entirely empty (or both tanks are empty); users of Tank B will need to wait for Tank A to be filled first and then hope for a trikle down (connector) to Tank B before they will have water supply. This is not ideal.

Now if the pump rate of the pumping machine is faster than the rate water flows into Tank B from Tank A, there will be water spillover from Tank A to the floor. This is a waste and just labouring the pump machine for nothing.

Solution: Connect the pumping borehole (Lead) to the connector and not to Tank A and both tanks will be independent from eachother or run this through a plumber first.

The plan is for water to flow into Tank B if Tank A is full. However, if the pumping machine pumping rate is higher than the rate water flows into Tank B, there will be water spillage. This is a waste. To prevent this, the connector pipe must be of a bigger diameter that can accommodate the rate of the pumping machine. If the diameter of the connector pipe is too small, there is the danger of water spillage from Tank A instead of flowing into Tank B.

So then if the connector pipe between Tank A and B is wider, it should work? Thank you for the usual detail explanations.
