I never said this. Here is what you should know, the New Testament wouldn't have occurred if there wasn't errors in the Old. You are to read the Old and find it's relevance in the New. If the New does not emphasise on it or explain further on it, then, it has provided an upgrade or what is called exchange of what used to be.

Christ death at the Cross settled it and put an end to the lighting of Candle on Candlestick stands and also put an end to an priest leading one to God. As the priesthood of ALL believers came to play just by the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ once and for all.

You see why i said you should read your bible very well... Burning of incense and lightning of candle was never a general law then and if you think it was, show me the verse.

Nauttyprof:

Do you know that the era of laws are gone and we operate under grace?

Do you realize that we no longer kill birds and other animals for the atonement of sins because Christ settled this once and for all?

Do you realize that the veil of the temple tore into two when Christ died, hence no more priest directing or leading one to God?

Do you realise that if the Bible wants that practice to continue, it will be emphasised?

See that it appears in the Old testament of the Bible does not mean that the practice should continue? If Christ wanted it to continue a better option of Him dying for us all wouldn't have surfaced. The Apostle would have continued the practice and would have been seen as an important part of our service to God.

You should be the one to read your Bible as God gave the instructions for how the Candlestick stands should be and even incense burning. He gave every details on these.

Besides, the era of the first 5 Books in the Old Testament were regarded as Law.

To explain further, there are 3 eras - law, prophets and grace. We operate under the last - Grace based on the finished works of Christ.

Please be careful what explanation you provide for each activity perfomed in Cele. Your anology regarding the teaching of Jesus with respect to a candle iunder a bushel is nto quite useful. In that instance it was symbolic. The candles may not have been referring to the church. It may just have been referring to people lighting candles at night. Now the use of candles in worship is specific to Cele and in accordance to the direction of the holy spirit. Anyone can argue that could not have been the holy spirit. So many so called "christians" tell you that christians must live only according to the Bible. It's mentioned in John 21 vs 25 that Jesus Christ did so many other things- which may include the fact that he said so many other things to- that if they were written down the world would not have enough rooms to contain them. So when the holy spirit tells you to do something and it's not in the Bible, it would be foolish to argue that i won't do it cause it's not in the bible. So it ultimately comes down to this quesiton: Was that message of the Holy spirit? If the spirit of God decides to reenact certain rules in a particular fold or mandate that certain modes of worship, which may be ancient be specific to a particular fold so be it. The Naysayers may object and claim it's not biblical or unchristian. That's their problem. The ways of God are mysterious. May the spirit of God guide us.
Mihzwhitesutana:

Sometimes we need to understand the Bible is vast and the truth therein are limitless. I used to argue it too before till I came across Psalms 18:28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

Another verses I know off hand is exodus 27:20 which says: “You shall charge the sons of Israel, that they bring you clear oil of beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually.”

Remember also in Matthew 5:15 when Jesus Wass discussing how a Christian's life should be, he said, "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house." For him to have mentioned candles that means it has been in usage even before the Orthodox Church

Arabirin, you seem to know what christianity entails. Enlighten us please. Is there a universal definition for what spiritual activities a christian can do? How is the use of incense, candles in your worship unchristian? If you were directed by the holy spirit to do so, so be it. You could argue that it could not have been according to the direction of the holy spirit, it must have been according to the man, but why would you think the holyspirit cannot provide such a driection? Who are you to decide what kind of direction the holyspirit provides? Lady say what you know and don't generalize it if you are not knowledgeable enough. In fact the direction of the holy spirit is not not necessary knowledge-based. The holyspirit can direct you to do something in a certain situation now, but tell you to do something else in the same situation tomorrow.

The father, the son (Jesus Christ) and the holy spirit are one and God is not an author of confusion. The holy spirit will not direct you to do something outside biblical principles.

The death of Jesus Christ clearly put an end to any extra sacrifices such as the burning of candles of Rams, incenses believed to reach the high heavens etc. All of those were necessary before the coming of Christ.

Even before the coming of Christ, God got tired of their vain hypocrisy so much he said: "Bring no more vain ablations incense as an abomination" (Isaiah 1:13) another version interprets this verse as "Your incense is detestable to me!

So why continue when he clearly spoke against it?

Christ's coming not only freed humanity from mosaic laws but also brought a new law.

"A new command I give you; love one another as I have loved you, you must love one another" (John 13:34).

Here's another one: "Carry each other's burden and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Gal 6:2).

So in a nutshell, according to the teachings of Christ, the law is loving your neighbour as you'd yourself, simple.

No Sir, God is not the Author of confusion. His spirit, the Holy spirit will never contradict Himself (reference to His word)

Holyspirit will never go against God's word and create a new practice. New practices that contradicts the word of God CAN NEVER be given by the Holy spirit.

If you believed there was more to Christian practices then, the Apostles would have talked about them if they were omitted from Christ teachings.

This must be a paid advertisement.
My own advice is that we should not consider doctrines but read our Bible to ascertain if the doctrines of our denomination is in tandem with biblical principles.
True worshippers according to Jesus worship God in spirit and in truth. The spirit here means cultivating the fruitage of the spirit as outlined in Galatians 5:21 -23. The truth here has to do with abiding by the word of God as stated in the Bible.
Christianity is supposed to be a very simple religion. But people tend to complicate it with spurious doctrines as if each one trying to give their denomination a brand.
If I attend church A and you attend church B. There must be differences in doctrines, yet we all claim to be reading the same Bible. Is our God a God of division? Just like some worshippers in the first century were alligning with Paul and some with Appolos. Paul promptly rebuked them. Our God is one God.
k sensed it too

From my research, celestial members don't 'secretly' attend Pentecostal, mind the word 'secretly'. They attend without shame and restriction. Pentecostal don't want people to know or see them at Celestial Church. They come secretly when they have tough issues only to return to Pentecostal Church to give testimonies.

I have a problem with number 6 and 10.

Why use candle at all when its celestial church of CHRIST. I never came accross an passage in the bible where Jesus told us to light a candle to pray. All churches that use candles or incense are fetish.

The bible is the rule book of christianity

Number 10 you said if you leave and talk harshly bad things may happen to the person. People talk harshly about our Lord Jesus everyday. He doesn't harm them because He is love. If atheists repents and come to Christ, with open arms He receives them. What then is a church that claims to be christ like doing with harshly making things bad for leavers. That's not God.

I have never entered a white garment church before and will never enter one. Their activities do not match what I read in my bible daily.

Your logo contains ONE EYE. You brandish the cross everytime. Jesus is no longer on the cross. He went to the cross not by choice but by Roman soldiers. Why do some churches hold the cross tightly and ignore the grave. Is the grave not as important as the cross. We dont need the cross or the grave or any symbol.

Jesus never told us to hold on to any of that or make reference to it.

Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Believe in your heart, confess with your mouth and let God see that in your lifestyle. Period.

Christianity is simple. We just want to make it complicated.

I want to do something I rarely do. I want to explain stuff to you. Find a day where you'll have like an hour. I'll call you(not midnight call oo) and explain Celestial Church to you as very very biblical....why I want to do this is Isee you have an open mind. I wont try to convince you to join NO. Just explain stuff to you from the bible.

For starters that EYE is a symbol that simply reminds us of the omniscience of the Almighty God and nothing we do in secret is hidden from him even though men cant see it and he will reward us for our actions.

This belief contained in the following Celestian hymns.

Oju Oluwa nwo ishe re
awon Angeli mimo nko won
iba she rere tabi ibi..
ere ishe re ni iwo yio gba."

The eyes of God are watching your actions and the holy Angel's are recording it...wether good or bad you will be rewarded accordingly.

Hymn 608 says

Toju ishe re ijo mimo. Eshe ododo eyin ijo mimo, oju mi nwo ishe Yom like orun.

Keep up your works you Celestians
Let your actions be righteous in this holy church
For my eyes are watching all you do from heaven

Another hymn says

Baba joko sinu tempili,
Oma mi wo ohun ti aiye ma mi she.
Aiyee ko le mu efufu ro.

The father sits in the temple
Watching the actions of the world
That world cannot stop a storm from raging

Hymn 463 also says

Oluwa duro onwo wa
Yio gba wa la lowo aiye

Our Lord stands and watches over us
He will save us from the hands of the evil ones.

Now can you honestly tell me that this concept or belief is not according to the Christian scriptures.

Note the CCC has at least 350 hymns with lyrics that are unique to it...ranging from various christian themes like praise, worship, forgiveness, resurrection, prayer, love judgement,Holy spirit, mercy, redemption etc

Men that church is glorious I am proudly a member

I currently attend arguebly the most popular Pentecostal Church in Rivers State... I have been a Pentecostal for over a decade now...

Below are my unbiased summary of Celestial Church of Christ...

1. Cele is a genuine Church that believes in Jesus Christ and the use of the holy Bible...

2. Cele have both good and bad members just as any other Pentecostal, Catholic, Anglican etc.. Church...

3. Cele has many parishes/branches Nation wide...

4. One Parish may have a Shepard/Pastor that is bad maybe even using occultic powers just as some Pentecostal pastors also use occultic powers but that doesn't mean that Pentecostal church is bad ...

5. Many other parishes/branches have God fearing Shepards/Pastors that relate to their members with the fear of God...

6. The only colour of candle permitted in Cele Church is white... Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you...

7. Cele is also a member of CAN... In my time in Cele, I saw many good Prophets, I also saw few evil Prophets that were exposed by the good ones...

8. Cele does not permit fornication and adultery but that does not mean some members or even Shepards don't engage in it same way some Pastors of Pentecostal churches also engage in fornication and adultery...

9. Cele believes in both the new and old testament of the Bible although more of their activities seem to be focused more on the old testament but that doesn't mean they don't believe and operate in the new testament as well...

10. One thing I noticed about the church is that if you leave the church and you begin to lie about the church or say negative things about the church, you may likely suffer harsh consequences...

Conclusion: Cele is a good church that has it's fair share of good and bad people... It has both sincere and occultic Shepard's/Pastors just as Pentecostal Churches ... Cele is part of the body of Christ just as other denominations are part of it...
Cele has been more of a blessing to me than a curse... I only left the church for personal reasons of which I dont have bad blood for the church because I know that it has also been a huge blessing to me...

Long Live the Body of Christ
Long Live Celestial Church
Long Live Catholic Church
long Live Anglican Church
Long Live Redeemed Church
Long Live Winners Chapel
Long Live Deeper Life
Long Live Cherubim
Long Live Apostolic
Etc....

my dear, celestial church of christ is a pentecostal church

My stand is Candle and Incense were mentioned in the bible and was never told is a bad thing to use...
According to the founder, that was what he was told to use and practice... IT can become a practice if you're told to practice it...
Jesus can operate in different ways using different means that mankind can't phantom... He used clay and saliva, He can instruct me to use snail saliva and mud also, does that make it occultic.

I am sorry, but it's an error to say there were errors in the old testament. It's akin to saying God wasn't in his right senses when he established those laws. Although i certainly believe that the rules that apply may change from time to time, which is usually a function of humans and the perpetual love of God for us- We are addicted to flouting rules laid down. This is confirmed by John 3 vs 16. Now your last sentence is a serious error as well. You mentioned that the death of christ put an end to the lighting of the candles. We know that Christ died for the atonement of our sins, so it means anything that was previously done by the Isrealites for the atonement such as animal sacrifice is redundant. This doesn't even mean it's wrong to do it, but it means you are no longer bound to it. So the question is were the lighting of candles part of atonement? The answer is No. You definitely need to read your bible well. The lighting of candles was particularly part of worship. I would say though that the fact that the Isrealites did certain things does not mean we should do them. It was given to them as part of their covenant with God. So if you apply them you may not receive the blessings promised. However if the holy spirit directs you to incorporate so so so and so into your worship as part of a covenant which is the case in CCC, then as a member of that fold you must do it to reap the blessings thereof. And God in his infinte wisdom can reenact whatever rule, however he pleases in whichever dispensation. His thoughts are not our thoughts neither his ways our ways. God chose Abraham, and subsequently his decendants. Does it mean Abraham was the only one who worshipped God? We may never know cos there was no such discussion, unless the holy spirit reveals it. God does whatever pleases him. You can argue from today to tomorrow on what you think the bible is saying, and you are definitely within your rights to argue it, i nwhich case you may be partially incorrect. It's what you know. God uses people differently. He may use one one way, and another a different way. You all seem to think there's a well defined template for christians. No there isn't. There are definitely certain basic principles that a christian must abide by. And especially, if the Bible instructs you not to do something then you mustn't do it. The Bible is silent on some matters. But the fact that something wasn't mentioned in the bible doesn't mean it's wrong. So the statement that the Bible doesn't say you can do something doesn't mean it's wrong. That's why the holy spirit is important to our existense. If you are faced with issues not resolved definitivley in the bible seek the direction of the holyspirit. If the Spirit of God directs some people to worship in a certain way, so be it. May the spirit of God guide us.
