hapheey007: It's your choice but Why do you want to give cod liver oil? Why not concentrate on breastfeeding him well that's if you are on EBF because all he needs for now is embedded in the breast milk. 1 Like |

Mzora: Water on top wound? Doesn't it sound painful to you? Some nurses will tell you not to bathe the child sef. Avoid any contact with the site, wear loose diaper. Penicillin will do just fine, I remember we were given vitamin c too then. |

FloraEC: Won't be harsh as such, the spirit has been touching it all along now while caring for the cord. We were using chloroxyl gel for the cord and we continued after it fell till it heals but i think methylated spirit is more common. |
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by angeltolly(f): 10:49pm On Aug 03, 2020 |
Mzora: I think it depends on the type of circumcision that was done for you. The person that did it should tell you. But i know if it's the ring method, you should apply olive oil often so the ring can drop fast. I did ring for my 2 boys and that was the instruction. |

Mzora: It depends on the type of circumcision done. My first son I ran warm water on it and applied penicillin ointment until the cotton wool fell and it completely healed. He did gomco method. My boy will do his own tomorrow, I've not been strong to take him to the hospital. |

Christianaoha:For the cough and catarrh, you can use vit c and bath him with hot water(not too hot sha), massage his whole body with it, keep him warm and don't expose him to too much AC till the cough and catarrh goes Just allow him be free of catarrh and cough first before u start using AC on him..... When you eventually use AC, the temperature should be around 28-31degrees then make sure the AC is not directly to his bed, and ALWAYS check his body temperature all the time... hope this helps 6 Likes |

Christianaoha: Me thinks the weather is too cold for Ac these days. I don't know your location though. Your best bet is covering your baby well and just opening the windows to let in fresh air for sometime. Steam inhalation helps add a drop of the menthol in the water. Vit c too and lots of breastmilk. Shear butter on the ridge of the nose, chest, ribs and under the feet. Congratulations ma'am. 2 Likes |

Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Tomblessings: 4:57am On Aug 05, 2020 |
babythug: Thanks for your response ma She's 2 months. I'm the only one bathing her. Aside bathing time, when i uncloth her you'll see that she'll want to hold something to feel secured, she doesn't cry at that time though. Also, when i put her on my shoulder she will hold herself as if she wants to fall. |

hapheey007:What’s the cod liver oil for? I was only asked to give my baby vitamin D(baby D drops). They also recommended poly-vi-sol but I didn’t see the need for it so never bought |

Fruitfulvinee:I used petroleum jelly. Bend a finger and apply small Vaseline on it, then press onto the navel to rub rotating it to touch all parts. That’s what my mum did and it didn’t take time to heal. As for pains, I don’t think there’s any associated pain 1 Like |

Mzora:Hospital gave me white petroleum jelly to apply on it at each diaper change with small gauze to cover it and it healed even before the navel fell. Though my son’s wasn’t ring |

Christianaoha:We use AC 24 hours at home so what I do is cover baby if I’m cold. Just know the temperature you feel is same for your baby. Your baby is cold when you are and hot when you are. As for the cough, try vitamin C but if it’s serious or continues see a pediatrician. 2 Likes |

Tomblessings:No experience with this. Do you massage her with warm water to be sure she’s not having pains? Hope you also don’t use water that’s too hot or too cold on her. Is your home cold? That could give her shiver too |
