I’m an adult and that video traumatized me. How can you make a child cry like that? I could not even finish watching it. There are better ways to discipline a child. 2 Likes |

Mumu talk. Go to public schools and see how teachers use logs of wood to whip students. You were you not flogged as a child? This is the way we correct children since life bagan. This is how we were all whipped and that's how our fathers were whipped. We didn't die |

Ejima1:For once Lauretta, you said something worth hearing. I for one cried because his mother thought she was in the right to have him on video and sent it to internet. I was afriad when he said his last time in the world. Mother, apologise to your now because tomorrow is huge and will remember this. To her, she has turned a celebrity. Parents thinks beating children is the very best way to correct a child, No. 2 Likes |

Fourwinds: The children are the future. It's not only about infrastructures. It's about cultures and ideologies. Build whatever infrastructure you want and without the right orientation, those infrastructures will be worn out because of absence of proper etiquette. Take every person in Oshodi to Oslo (Norway) and take every person in Norway to Oshodi , let them stay for 10 years and watch if Norway won't become Oshodi where people urinate and dump refuse in drainage channels. My little nephew who attends a new generation school where pupils are not flogged was angry in the car on our way to the airport when his mother threw wraps of snacks while I was driving, he said "Mummy, it's wrong to throw wastes on the road, it causes pollution". These young ones raised without abuse have empathy for chickens and goats and definitely human life . They're not like those who were flogged but kill for rituals and loot public funds. The new and most relevant method of upbringing in the 21st century is not beating up a child to show supremacy, or simply telling him to stop doing something. Take your child and give him half an hour long correctional talk on why he should not do it. Deny him some fun as punishment and he won't do it again. If he still does it after that it means he would still have done it after you flog him although not in your presence. Swear that disciplinarians around you have not thrown wraps of snacks out while they were driving. Swear that disciplinarians around you take their domestic refuse to incinerators for disposal and when they get there they pour it into the tank and not near the tank or worse gutters. Tell me if a child whose parents never abused him because of a hair cut would become a SARS official and stereotype young males because of dreadlocks. You see, no matter the roads the government build the scenarios I mentioned in the preceding paragraph will cause flooding in the long run and damage those roads. Orientation of our young ones to be modern humans and not just hypocritical savages is as important as building infrastructures , even more important because unlike their fathers who imported the services of other people's fathers abroad to build roads and railways for them, the critical thinking and freedom liberalism breeds will make them confident to build Nigeria themselves. 3 Likes |

Look at this woman again oooo. They want to also destroy the little that is remaining for us. In Africa, we instill discipline in children. We flog, spank and knock. So long as u are doing it without wicked mind. It has helped to bring up disciplined children in Africa. We are very much proud of our parents that flogged and shaped us to what we are today. This woman is comparing our mode of discipline with that of the Western world. This is so absurd. Forget about our backwardness and corruption here in Africa. Africans produce more disciplined children than Western word that always talk about Child Abuse and Right. You don't give a child right more than he/she can handle. |

MhizJoyce: So, it's because of corporal punishment that Nigerian politicians are corrupt? it's like saying, we've been going to school since we were born and Nigerian politicians are still corrupt, let's stop going to school. Why don't we stop other things like getting married, having children, building houses or going to school, or even drinking water. There's no connection! THINK!!! |

Stupid, careless woman! No wonder their children always end up being drug addicts and menace to the society as a result of indiscipline and over pampering. Personally, I see nothing wrong with the way the woman handled her child. Yoruba people are well disciplined, we don't joke with it. |

Ejima1: People like her are quick to quote the Bible, Koran and African culture that LGBT is a sin. Hypocrisy. You failed to realised that disciplining a child in the bible is not an abuse. You failed to quote that correcting a child in Africa in not an abuse. So, you quoted that time has changed and made reference to the UK. If you want to go the UK way, don't castigate LGBT. Smh. Take note that I am not pro LGBT. I am only exposing the crisis of identity among some Nigerian hypocrites |

Ejima1:I completely agree! That child was abused by her mother, someone who was supposed to protect his dignity. Threatening, your child and watching him cry, then recording it to show people or uploading it on social media is the worst form of abuse! The mother needs to be in Jail. 1 Like |
