The All Progressives Congress (APC) has perfected moves to remove Francis Okiye, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and replace him with Yekini Idiaye, the former Deputy Speaker who was impeached on Wednesday.

Following the Speaker’s removal and Idiaye’s election as the new Speaker, he is expected to swear in the 14 members-elect who were yet to be sworn in since the House was declared open on June 17 last year by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

A credible source told Daily Independent that already a contingent of policemen have already forced their way into the Assembly complex that is being renovated with the aim of providing security for the 14 members- elect who have not been inaugurated.

The affected members-elect are Vincent Uwadiae, Ovia North-East II; Ugiagbe Dumez, Ovia North-East I; Washington Osifo, Uhunmwode; Victor Edoror, Esan Central; Kingsley Ugabi, Etsako East and Michael Ohio-Ezomo, Owan West.

Others are Sunday Aghedo, Ovia South-West; Chris Okaeben, Oredo West; Crosby Eribo, Egor; Seid Aliyu Oshiomhole, Etsako West II; Oshomah Ahmed, Etsako Central and Ganiyu Audu, Etsako West I.

The Edo State House of Assembly had on Wednesday accused the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma and other APC Leaders of plotting to forcefully take over the Assembly with the importation of a fake mace to perfect the act.

It also alleged that the plan was in connivance with the impeached Deputy Speaker, Yekini Idiaye who recently declared support for the governorship candidate of APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Benin – Right Honourable Frank Okiye, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, on Wednesday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to rein in on Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and other stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly planning to invade and forcefully take over the house of assembly.

Frank Okiye, in a statement alleged that Uzodinma and APC leaders are in a secret agreement with the impeached deputy speaker, Yekini Idiaye to import a fake made to take over the assembly.

To be honest and candid, Buhari's presidency is lenient with the state governors most especially the opposition party. This is rare during the administration of Obasanjo and Jonathan.

How can elected legislators of the ruling party be prevented from being sworn in by the Governor for more than a year because of the paranoia of impeachment which the governor has no evidence to prove.

Let's call a spade a spade, Obaseki took his luck too far by this act.

Let's be factual and reasonable.
There is nothing Ambode could have done with the 40 house of assembly members and the state Judiciary against him.

He contested the party's primary which he lost, accepted fate and acted like a progressive by staying back in his ideology rather than cross-carpeting which is a sign of desperation.

Politics requires a lot of accurate discernment, not just wishful thinking.

They didn't even allow Obaseki to contest, but, he's now the flag bearer of biggest party in Nigeria. Not just that, Obaseki also relegated Oshiomhole and Tinubu in APC thereby making them IDPs. All these happened cos Obaseki is not a coward!
