chic2pimp: The gang issue is not about poverty, gang issue is about drug dealing and control of areas. Kids fall into gang masters when parents are not there, dad%mum are busy chasing money or absent dad problem. Kids don't join gang because they are hungry, they join gang because they look up to these gang leaders as figure of authority. They want to be loved and cared for, to them its a family, symbol of unity ..something they lack at home because parents are too busy working or couldn't careless 2 Likes 1 Share |

justwise: In the UK a lot of the gangs starts in council estate and lower income areas or deprived areas In posh areas you see quiet drug taking kids yes but gang and violence I don't think so 1 Like |

LagosismyHome: The gang thing is a cultural thing, its not about poverty, gang leaders and their errand boys/girls make a lot of money per hour than many working 9-5 jobs. Investing that money in things like property is a problem because it is difficult to defend source of that money |

justwise: The Gang Issue has everything to do with Poverty. The Middle Class and Upper Class have more Purchasing power to buy these drugs in abundance so why are they not infiltrating these areas with reckless abandon as they are working class ones? There is a correlation between Single parents households and Poverty so yh it still comes back to poverty. Also guess which section of the society Chase even more money than Working class folks? Yup the Middle class ones. justwise: There are a number of Kids in Middle Class areas that want the exact same thing but I don't see them turning to crime in record numbers. As I said earlier, the community in which your kids are raised matters. |

LagosismyHome: There is a reason why as soon as we make little money we all come running out of Low income areas into Nice Middle Class areas. |

justwise: If we did a role reversal and transported Middle Class families from their leafy suburbs into High Rise council estates and did vice versa for working class ones, I am willing to bet High Rise buildings will suddenly become desirable whilst your Leafy surburbs becomes the epicenter of Yob/gang culture. The schools in those areas would also experience dramatic improvements. What was once an Oftsed "Needs to improve" school would suddenly be rated "Outstanding". It's not the area itself Bro. It's the type of Families that inhabit those areas. 1 Like |

justwise: Are you minding them...I waited all day until about 9pm when I was tired of waiting. I went online and saw a telephone number. I called and a woman with naija accent picked one dial...very quick picking for such late call . Gave her the reference number and she said let her look into it and call me back. After 2 mins the money was paid ....... Meaning there was no true hold up. . Not sure if the delay was because I paid via bank transfer and they just hadn't manually processed it . Their rate much better than worldremit |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Erdington(m): 10:04am On Aug 06, 2020 |
I have lived in Birmingham, for 18years now. It depends on what you are looking for, closeness to place of work etc that determines where you live. I lived in Erdington for 4 years, moved to Alum Rock, then to Nechells, then to Newtown and i now live in Selly Oak. As finances improve and family needs, it helps to determine how and where you move to. I personally will avoid Alum Rock, Nechells & Newtown to live, based on my experience, but if that is what your finances can accommodate, then live there. Another suggestion is Walsall, a lot of people have moved there, its just 15 mins by train to Birmingham city centre. 3 Likes 1 Share |
