delawal: You see one of the reasons I find it hard to see how this country will ever progress. People tribalise everything! In your mind, this is a tussle between the Yorubas and Ibos, right? What petty thinking. So Atiku has become an Ibo man? At least he was the real challenger to Buhari. I didn't also get the memo that the latter has become a Yoruba man. People need to stop being myopic. These corrupt politicians ain't got no love for the common man, forget the parties. They don't value you, except you are one of them. They are all the same! The earlier you and your ilk realise this the better. 14 Likes 1 Share |

ahiboilandgas: Well.... I think the criticism of the show is unfounded anyways I dont have the time to, or the interest whatsoever in watching the show But we are in the 21st century, and one of the beauty of this century is that unlike centuries prior, we have the luxury of choice (or let me say the privilege of choice) So I have no problem with what adults choose to watch on their screens or do with their free time. It's a democracy and a free world However These are my concerns 1) we do not take censorship serious in this country. Kids should not have access to viewership, but the unfortunate thing I have come to discover is that kids either have open access to watch the program on cable tv, sometimes even watching it alongside parents and guardians This is very unfortunate and has to be discouraged 2) Misplaced priorities. Watching the show purely for the entertainment itself if that's your thing is not the issue, but when you see the craze among "supposed fans" who campaign fervently for their respective candidates, spend their time and money voting to keep them in the house and all that, some even get so emotionally charged that it becomes violent This is also not so bad in itself (apart from the violent part) Where the misplaced priorities come in is when you can spend so much energy and resources on a BBN contender but cannot mobilise yourselves politically to vote in good candidates, or vote out bad candidates in government at all levels in the country, even if it is local government level. This is where the misplaced priority comes in. Imagine Nigerians protesting and beseiging the hotel where "Cee C" was held up after her disqualification to protest her alleged ill treatment, and demanded she get released immediately Activists were locked up nationwide by this fascist government and not many people cared to lift a finger So these are the real issues BB Naija has no problem The underlying problems that persist in Nigeria and among Nigerians is what the main issue is BBNaija is just a catalyst, or a conduit pipe to commute the symptoms of the underlying problems Blocking or stopping BB Naija wont change or fix the underlying problems Let's try to look at this thing objectively and dispassionately, devoid of emotions 14 Likes |

Greenvaiper: The blame rests squarely on Nigerians in general It's not exactly a tribal thing In the south east where I come from, the voter turnout was abysmal in 2015. I know personally of so many in the south east who deliberately REFUSED to get a PVC and for some who did, refused to vote Buhari's win in 2015 is their cross to bear too, cos their political apathy brought this calamity into office And for many many Nigerians who vote not based on competence, but based on tribalism, nepotism or religious sentiments, this calamity of a government is also your fault Lastly, Nigerians in general are to blame for this Because if Buhati was held accountable from day 1, (this goes for all political office holders today too) Buhari wont be the wannabe fascist that he is today If every wrong thing he did was met by widespread condemnation, we wont be in this mess today Democracy survives when the people hold the leaders to account, and remind them that we put them in office. Democracy dies when we excuse every wrong thing that an elected official does because of tribal sentiment or religious bigotry So in essence If we want to be truthful to ourselves We are to blame for this mess Look at the show of shame in Edo state It is being met with cheers and high fives, instead of wide scale condemnation 7 Likes |

Greenvaiper:Nigerian politics is an emotional and sentimental topic and it shouldn't be encouraged here. Because when it is discussed, it will always bring comments like the bolded. Every electorate has the right to vote for their choices. It is their right and you should learn to respect that. Last time I checked, Buhari and Atiku are Fulanis, so what is the spite on Igbo here? Southwest has six States, Atiku won in Ondo, Osun, and Oyo. But you've chosen to be a tribal bigot who is quick to mention to anyone who cares to listen how Yorubas foisted Buhari on Nigerians. Stop being petty! If the Igbos are so good with political decisions like you want us to believe, one would expect that a man like Ikpeazu of Abia won't return to office. But he did. While it is nice to protest against the inadequacies of government (this administration has a lot of them), no sitting government in the world will allow people chant "Revolution" every time. This is more like forceful change of power which is against the tenets of democracy. APC tried it in 2015 but they used a mild term. People should protest for good governance instead of following Sowore's misguided utterance and land themselves in trouble. If Nigerians want to change the government, they should do it through the ballot. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ahiboilandgas:Permit me to answer this your question with other questions sir. Please what is the vision, mission and objectives of wrestling, boxing, football, horse racing, car racing, basketball...etc to the viewers and spectators? How does it affect their lives especially if they are not club owners, members, shareholders or own businesses that it's earning is directly linked to those club and entertainment outlets? Finally how does it affect people not interested if they skip the channel and change to other areas of interest or refuse to activate the channel entirely. what if they watch and refuse to participate in Big Brother voting? 19 Likes 1 Share |

freeman67: True, it's just entertainment. Personally, I have never seen the attraction. Didn't follow the last one. I intended following the current one purely to see what the fuss was all about but i have still not watched a single episode Maybe it's because i am not a fan of reality TV. Prefer to just watch a movie or series. I still don't understand why Nigerians love it so much to the extent of recharging thousands just to vote. I would have preferred a music talent show like Project Fame having that much popularity. At least, the contestants are showcasing a talent. 1 Like |

DexterousOne:This is quite true. I went home during the last gubernatorial election in Kogi. Even the deaf and blind need no conviction to know that Yahaya Bello is a disaster but there many things wrong with us as Nigerians. The politicians only leverage on those things. Tribal politics: Promising power shift to Okun so Tinubu/Faleke can support him. Poverty: He has impoverished the people to the extent that they don't have a will-power of their own. Past political office holders who were owed allowance by the Idris Wada administration were forced to join to APC. They receive cash gifts between 1m-2million upon their decamp. In addition, he promised to pay their allowance after securing electoral victory. People collect branded clothings from politicians and joyfully travel many kilometres to political meetings and rallies so they can earn a paltry sum of 1k and free take-away rice at the end of the day. Appointments: Some people are very much interested in retaining their political appointment so they went to all extent to ensure their principal returns to office. Doling out money to people (traditional office holders inclusive), intimidation and kidnapping of the few relevant ones who won't budge. Bello was foresighted enough to empower some few persons ranging from Commissioners, LGA administrators, political advisers, revenue collectors, thugs, etc. These people made so money and gained power so they can afford to do anything in the interest of their principal. And the most surprising of all is the fact that the few elites in the various wards also supported him because of financial gifts they received. These are the type of people you would think wants the interest of their communities so one is confused whether the candidate they are supporting is not the same disaster that has been there since 2016. And on election day, it's a different ball game. The few persons that stood their ground got carried away by money. I don't know how they got the money but APC stewarts spent crazily. Ad-hoc electoral officials and policemen in my unit were bribed with 30k each. In some polling units, electorates got as high as 9k each just to vote for APC. PDP were bargaining 2k. In a nutshell, votes were bought, conscience were sold. And then kinsmen fought one another for a man who doesn't care about their existence. Two brothers on opposing sides fought and broke their mother's head who was trying to separate them. The father was actually supporting one of the sons because they were on the same side. I wasn't told. I witnessed it. 6 Likes |

Crazeworld:No one could have said it any better, above narration is the true reflection of what happens during elections in Nigeria, be it Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa. ALL exhibited same behaviour. But some naysayers will always try to exonerate themselves and painted their own tribe are saints. In the last election judging from events, build-up and intensity the campaign generated across the six geopolitical zone, I was dumbfounded when I say the paltry figure coming out from SE. If you add up all the total vote cast in that region, it's not up to what a single state of Oyo gave to pdp. But they will be the one to complain SW returns APC. By virtue of you not participating you have inadvertently gave the opposition an edge. Note, I'm not a supporter of any party, and based on my assessment I adjudged this current government as the worst Nigeria ever had based on all indices 3 Likes |

Phraences: Yes, it is for entertainment. A reality TV program that showcases how lots of people behave when there are to cohabit with other people. There are instances where 2 people both agree and do something silly on Int'l TV. There instance when 1 will want and the other won't. Those things are not all they do anyway. The show try to amplify the talent of participants too but the most amplified thing are the silly because scandals sell news more in this our generation. . It goes a long way to tell how exposed/degrading things get to in this our generation. All things that hitherto was private and now getting public including human body parts. Very true that a some serious minded people and people with high moral will not fancy that sort of entertainment because of some of the things portrayed in the show. I believe the producers have boundaries for that. It is however, very glaring that lots of people like because the price for winner( which will come from the program sponsor and contribution of the voter/viewers) and the number of DSTV subscription during the period of the show keep increasing. It seem Make I no derail this thread with that mumu show matter sha.. 1 Like |
