The police in Apapa Area Command of Lagos State have intercepted a 40-foot container laden with drugs suspected to be Tramadol and codeine.

The container was intercepted on water and taken to a bonded terminal in Apapa.

A team of officers from Customs and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) joined the Area B Commander, Olasoji Akinbayo, on Thursday for inspection.

The Area B Commander has recently intercepted similar imports and has transferred the case and two suspects to government prosecutors.

The latest intercepted container is expected to also be handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

On Tuesday, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, hinted that drug trafficking was one of the factors fueling insecurity across the country.

Drug addiction and trafficking were one of the major issues the Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, discussed at its last meeting, according to Monguno.

According to him, Nigeria has moved from a transit hub to a drug production centre.

He noted that 17 meth labs were recently shut down in the country and called for a wholesome national approach to stopping the drug menace.

For every one interception, its likely over 100 has sailed through. The investor who owns this, will be in severe pain but he knew the risk involved in such importation, but must have waved it off with his left hand since he knows there are corrupt elements in the country which he can buy over & get past any hurdle. Unfortunately he met with officials that want to either do the right thing or are looking for presidential commendations or promotions. I also hope the police will release all of what they seized & not hide some.

The leaders of tomorrow indeed!

In the next 10-20 years, these old politicians we have will still reason more perfectly and sensibly than the youths of this generation.

Hmmm

On San Diego Bay: Their title is "marine interdiction agent." Their mission is to stop drugs from illegally entering the U.S (Nick Oza/USA TODAY NETWORK)

After the government built fences in San Diego, drug smugglers turned to the ocean, underground tunnels and, most commonly, the ports of entry. Last year more than 90 percent of the drug seizures happened in the port of entry, where millions of cars drive into San Diego from Mexico every year.

Speaking from this angle, it's glaring loopholes left uncovered by the present-day Government of ours are deciphered, explored and ultimately exploited on all fronts inclusive of events such as this and these endangering acts are fast becoming the new normal.

Corruption is spiking on a geometric progression. No government organization is innocent and pure.

Now it's the NPA.

Someone imported this.

Someone cleared it.

It came through international waters after all.

Developed countries have a section of their naval operations dedicated to monitoring the waterways to impede the smuggling of stuffs such as this.

All I wish and pray for is we all start to have a conscience that prevents us from contributing to the evils befalling this country!

To other youths hooked on these hard drugs that destroyed lives out there, take this......

A Chinese proverb says ....

无论走错路多远,都回头

(Translation)

'No matter how far you have gone on the wrong road.....................TURN BACK'!!

All the best to y'all!!!

spayor:
'no matter how far you've gone on the wrong road, its never too late to turn back'...this is the best thing I've read in years...I'm so depressed and lots of thoughts are running through my head, but I wanna say thank you for this words...mind you, I am not a drug addict but my situation and what I've caused myself is worse than that of a drug addict...thank u once again
You are always welcome Spayor.
We are glad to read that our words encouraged you to be strong.
No matter what you are going through,
Always know that you will overcome
Always be positive that it will end in praise for you.

Let us give you some more words of encouragement to keep you going......

You can have anything you want if you want it badly enough.
You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.”

You must take ACTION.
Knowing is not enough,
You must apply ACTION.
Willing is not enough; you must do."
Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will define you.

The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.

We wish you all the very best for the future.
Glad to know you have your mind made up to TURN BACK.

See you at the top friend.
Hugs!

The tramodol and codeine will soon disappear and they will tell you the drugs were sent to reputable hospitals and research bodies for legal medical and research purposes.
